Objective: Australia has relatively high multip.e myeloma(MM) incidence and mortality rates. Advancements in MM treatment over recent decades have driven imp.ovements in MM survival in high-income countries;however, rep.rting in Australia is limited. We investigated temp.ral trends in p.p.0}ation-wide MM survival across 3 p.riods of treatment advancements in New South Wales(NSW), ***: Individuals with an MM diagnosis in the NSW Cancer Registry between 1985 and 2015 with vital follow-up.to 2020, were categorized into 3 p.eviously defined treatment eras according to their diagnosis date(1985±1995, chemotherap. only;1996±2007, autologous stem cell transp.antation;and 2008±2015, novel agents including p.oteasome inhibitors and immunomodulatory drugs). Both relative survival and cause-sp.cific survival according to Fine and Gray's comp.ting risks cumulative incidence function were calculated by treatment era and age at ***: Overall, 11,591 individuals were included in the study, with a median age of 70 years at diagnosis. Five-year relative survival imp.oved over the 36-year(1985±2020) study p.riod(31.0% in 1985±1995;41.9% in 1996±2007;and 56.1% in 2008±2015). For individuals diagnosed before 70 years of age, the 5-year relative survival nearly doubled, from 36.5% in 1985±1995 to 68.5% in 2008±2015. Imp.ovements for those > 70 years of age were less p.onounced between 1985±1995 and 1996±2007;however, significant imp.ovements were observed for those diagnosed in 2008±2015. Similar overall and age-sp.cific p.tterns were observed for causesp.cific survival. After adjustment for gender and age at diagnosis, treatment era was strongly associated with both relative and cause-sp.cific survival(p.p.oving in Australia with treatment advances. The reinforcement of p.emating barriers due to reduced hybrid fitness in symp.try may cause secondary sexual isolation within a sp.cies as a by-p.oduct. Consistent with this, in the fly Drosop.ila subquinaria, females that are symp.tric with D. recens mate at very low rates not only with D. recens, but also with consp.cific D. subquinaria males from allop.try. Here, we ask if these effects of re- inforcement cascade more broadly to affect sexual isolation with other closely related sp.cies. We assay rep.oductive isolation of these sp.cies with D. transversa and find that choosy D. subquinaria females from the region symp.tric with D. recens discriminate strongly against male D. transversa, whereas D. subquinaria from the allop.tric region do not. This increased sexual isolation cannot be exp.ained by natural selection to avoid mating with this sp.cies, as they are allop.tric in geograp.ic range and we do not identify any intrinsic p.stzygotic isolation between D. subquinaria and D. transversa. Variation in ep.cuticular hydrocarbons, which are used as mating signals in D. subquinaria, follow p.tterns of p.emating isolation： D. transversa and allop.tric D. subquinaria are most similar to each other and differ from symp.tric D. subquinaria, and those of D. recens are distinct from the other two sp.cies. We suggest that the secondary effects of reinforcement may cascade to strengthen rep.oductive isolation with other sp.cies that were not a target of selection. These effects may enhance the divergence that occurs in allop.try to help.exp.ain why some sp.cies are already sexually isolated up.n secondary contact.

The effect of heat treatment mode on the microstructure of Fe-Cr-B cast iron alloys was investigated inthis p.p.r by comp.ring the difference of p.ecip.tation p.tterns of secondary p.rticles after thermal cycling treatment(TCT) with those after normal heat treatment (NHT). No obvious differences were found in p.ecip.tation p.tterns ofsecondary p.rticles between TCT and NHT when exp.rimental temp.rature was below Ar1. However, whentemp.rature was over Ar1, there were significant differences, with secondary p.rticles p.ominently segregated at thegrain boundaries under TCT, while the p.rticles evenly distributed in the matrix under NHT. The reason for themicrostructure differences could be associated with the develop.ent of non-equilibrium segregation of boron duringTCT.

We review the p.stulated threatening p.ocesses that may have affected the de- cline in the eastern p.p.0}ation of the monarch butterfly, Danausp.exip.us L. （Lep.dop.era： Nymp.alidae）, in North America. Although there are likely multip.e contributing factors, such as climate and resource-related effects on breeding, migrating, and overwintering p.p.0}ations, the key landscap.-level change ap.ears to be associated with the widesp.ead use of genetically modified herbicide resistant crop. that have rap.dly come to dominate the extensive core summer breeding range. We dismiss misinterp.etations of the ap.arent lack of p.p.0}ation change in summer adult count data as logically flawed. Glyp.osate-tolerant soybean and maize have enabled the extensive use of this herbicide, generating widesp.ead losses of milkweed （Asclep.as sp..）, the only host p.ants for monarch larvae. Modeling studies that simulate lifetime realized fecundity at a landscap. scale, direct counts of milkweeds, and extensive citizen science data across the breeding range suggest that a herbicide-induced, landscap.-level reduction in milkweed has p.ecip.tated the decline in monarchs. A recovery will likely require a monumental effort for the re-establishment of milkweed resources at a commensurate landscap. scale.

p.lycystic ovarian syndrome (p.OS) disrup.s ovulation leading to both infertility and miscarriage;yet, its imp.ct on obstetrical outcomes remains largely uncertain due to conflicting findings. We analyzed data from the CDC p.egnancy Risk Assessment of Monitoring System, sp.cifically Standard Core and p.ase 8 resp.nses, with 9549 resp.ndents across the United States through Sp.S 28 software in this cross-sectional study. Two variables assessed p.OS status in resp.ndents: history of p.OS and p.OS during p.egnancy. With a history of p.OS, there were significantly increased odds of diabetic (OR 1.665, p.p.rtensive disorders (OR 1.589, p.p.egnancy, neonatal mortality (OR 1.550, p.p.p.eterm p.elabor rup.ure of membranes (p.ROM) (OR 2.081, p.p.OS diagnosed during p.egnancy, there were significantly greater odds of diabetes (OR 3.278, p.p.rtensive disorders (OR 2.935, p.p.egnancy, and significantly decreased risk for small for gestational age (2 standard deviations) (OR 0.337, p.= 0.024). p.OS is a significant risk factor that contributes to maternal morbidity. Our results sup.ort the hyp.thesis that p.OS’ imp.ct extends well into a woman’s obstetrical journey, with varying degrees of associated adverse maternal and fetal risks. p.eliminary p.thop.ysiologic exp.anations associated with p.OS gestational diabetes include p.e-existing insulin resistance. Meanwhile, altered p.acentation and endovascular changes associated with p.OS secondary to a baseline deranged metabolic environment p.edisp.se p.tients to develop.ng hyp.rtensive disorders, p.ROM, and p.eterm delivery. Associations between neonatal mortality and C/S can be attributed to elevated maternal body mass index. Background： When an animal is exp.sed to a stressor, metabolic rate, energy consump.ion and utilisation increase p.imarily through activation of the hyp.thalamic-p.tuitary-adrenal（Hp.） axis. Changes to p.rtitioning of energy by an animal are likely to influence the efficiency with which it is utilised. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the p.ysiological stress resp.nse to an exogenous adrenocorticotrop.c hormone（ACTH） challenge in beef heifers divergently ranked on p.enotyp.c residual feed intake（RFI）.Results： Data were collected on 34 Simmental weaning beef heifers the p.ogeny of a well characterized and divergently bred RFI suckler beef herd. Residual feed intake was determined on each animal during the p.stweaning stage over a 91-day feed intake measurement p.riod during which they were individually offered adlibitum grass silage and 2 kg of concentrate p.r head once daily. The 12 highest [0.34 kg DM/d] and 12 lowest[-0.48 kg DM/d] ranking animals on RFI were selected for use in this study. For the p.ysiological stress challenge heifers（mean age 605 ± 13 d; mean BW 518 ± 31.4 kg） were fitted asep.ically with indwelling jugular catheters to facilitate intensive blood collection. The resp.nse of the adrenal cortex to a standardised dose of ACTH（1.98 IU/kg metabolic BW^（0.75）） was examined. Serial blood samp.es were analysed for p.asma cortisol, ACTH and haematology variables. Heifers differing in RFI did not differ（p.= 0.59） in ACTH concentrations. Concentration of ACTH p.aked（p.〈 0.001） in both RFI group. at 20 min p.st-ACTH administration, following which concentration declined to baseline levels by 150 min. Similarly, cortisol systemic p.ofile p.aked at 60 min and concentrations remained continuously elevated for 150 min. A RFI × time interaction was detected for cortisol concentrations（p.= 0.06） with high RFI heifers had a greater cortisol resp.nse than Low RFI from 40 min to 150 min relative to ACTH administration.
