BACKGROUND The nature of input data is an essential factor when training neural *** concerning magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)-based diagnosis of liver tumors using deep learning has been rapidly ***,evidence to support the utilization of multi-dimensional and multi-parametric image data is *** to higher information content,three-dimensional input should presumably result in higher classification ***,the differentiation between focal liver lesions(FLLs)can only be plausible with simultaneous analysis of multisequence MRI *** To compare diagnostic efficiency of two-dimensional(2D)and three-dimensional(3D)-densely connected convolutional neural networks(DenseNet)for FLLs on multi-sequence *** We retrospectively collected T2-weighted,gadoxetate disodium-enhanced arterial phase,portal venous phase,and hepatobiliary phase MRI scans from patients with focal nodular hyperplasia(FNH),hepatocellular carcinomas(HCC)or liver metastases(MET).Our search identified 71 FNH,69 HCC and 76 *** volume registration,the same three most representative axial slices from all sequences were combined into four-channel images to train the 2D-DenseNet264 *** bounding boxes were selected on all scans and stacked into 4D volumes to train the 3D-DenseNet264 *** test set consisted of 10-10-10 *** performance of the models was compared using area under the receiver operating characteristic curve(AUROC),specificity,sensitivity,positive predictive values(ppV),negative predictive values(NpV),and f1 *** The average AUC value of the 2D model(0.98)was slightly higher than that of the 3D model(0.94).Mean ppV,sensitivity,NpV,specificity and f1 scores(0.94,0.93,0.97,0.97,and 0.93)of the 2D model were also superior to metrics of the 3D model(0.84,0.83,0.92,0.92,and 0.83).The classification metrics of FNH were 0.91,1.00,1.00,0.95,and 0.95 using the 2D and 0.90,0.90,0.95,0.95,and 0.90 using the 3D ***

Relationships among group delay,energy storage,and loss in dispersive dielectric mirrors

We show that absorbed and stored electromagnetic energy are proportional to the reflection group delay in highly reflective dispersive dielectric mirrors over the high-reflectivity band. Our theoretical considerations are verified by numerical simulations performed on different dielectric mirror structures. The revealed pro- portionality between group delay and absorbed energy sets constraint on the application of ultrabroadband and/or dispersive dielectric mirrors in broadband or widely tunable, high-power laser systems.

BACKGROUND Obesity rates have increased sharply in recent decades. As there is a growing number of cases in which acute pancreatitis(Ap) is accompanied by obesity, we found it clinically relevant to investigate how body-mass index(BMI) affects the outcome of the *** To quantify the association between subgroups of BMI and the severity and mortality of *** A meta-analysis was performed using the preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis(pRISMA) protocols. Three databases(pubMed, EMBASE and the Cochrane Library) were searched for articles containing data on BMI, disease severity and mortality rate for Ap. Englishlanguage studies from inception to 19 June 2017 were checked against our predetermined eligibility criteria. The included articles reported all Ap cases with no restriction on the etiology of the disease. Only studies that classified Ap cases according to the Atlanta Criteria were involved in the severity analyses. Odds ratios(OR) and mean differences(MD) were pooled using the random effects model with the DerSimonian-Laird estimation and displayed on forest plots. The meta-analysis was registered in pROSpERO under number *** A total of 19 articles were included in our meta-analysis containing data on 9997 patients. As regards severity, a subgroup analysis showed a direct association between Ap severity and BMI. BMI 25 had an almost three-fold increased risk for severe Ap in comparison to normal BMI(OR = 2.87, 95%CI: 1.90-4.35, p portantly,the mean BMI of patients with severe Ap is higher than that of the non-severe group(MD = 1.79, 95%CI: 0.89-2.70, p p patients are the highest in the underweight and obese subgroups. pharmaceutical co-crystals have been explored by many researchers as a strategy to optimize physicochemical properties of solid-state *** improvements of solubility,bioavailability,and the reduced tendency for phase transformation occurrence,are factors that highlight benefits of pharmaceutical co-crystals among other solid *** to the Biopharmaceutical Classification System(BCS),non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs(NSAIDs)are class Ⅱ drugs,which have low aqueous solubility and therefore co-crystallization has the potential to optimize NSAID product *** this review,we highlight the recent progress made on NSAIDs co-crystals,their co-formers,synthesis,methods and use,while we underline some promising results on in vitro and in vivo co-crystal properties.A celecoxib-tramadol co-crystal reaches phase Ⅲ clinical trials,showing greater analgesic activity than both individual *** aqueous solubility of the co-crystal formed between l-proline and diclofenac is very high in comparison with the pure *** co-crystals with urea and thiourea have an increase of drug release of almost 60%.Co-crystal design brings a new perspective in drug development since the co-former used can also be a biologically active component allowing to combine different anti-inflammatory drugs,which have an incredible spectrum of application due to the analgesic,anti-pyretic and anti-inflammatory properties.
