Most crystalline materials follow the guidelines of T^(-1) temperature-dependent lattice thermal conductivity(κ_(L))at elevated ***,we observe a weak temperature dependence ofκL in Mg_(3)Sb_(2),T^(-0:48) from theory and T-0:57 from measurements,based on a comprehensive study combining ab initio molecular dynamics calculations and experimental measurements on single crystal Mg_(3)Sb_(2).These results can be understood in terms of the so-called“phonon renormalization”effects due to the strong temperature dependence of the interatomic force constants(IFCs).The increasing temperature leads to the frequency upshifting for those low-frequency phonons dominating heat transport,and more importantly,the phononphonon interactions are ***-depth analysis reveals that the phenomenon is closely related to the temperature-induced asymmetric movements of Mg atoms within MgSb_(4) *** increasing temperature,these Mg atoms tend to locate at the areas with relatively low force in the force profile,leading to reduced effective 3^(rd)-order *** locally asymmetrical atomic movements at elevated temperatures can be further treated as an indicator of temperature-induced variations of IFCs and thus relatively strong phonon *** present work sheds light on the fundamental origins of anomalous temperature dependence of κ_(L) in thermoelectrics.

Adenosine by rapid intravenous bolus is frequently utilized in clinical practice as both a pharmacologic treatment for supraventricular (reentrant) tachycardia and in provocative testing for the diagnosis of Wolff-parkinson-White (WpW) syndrome. This is a case report of an otherwise healthy adolescent female who received adenosine during a provocative test for WpW syndrome. Immediately after receiving adenosine, the patient had a self-limited episode of atrial fibrillation. When administering adenosine, teams should be aware of the potential adverse effects and be prepared to treat appropriately.

Wide skis are the most popular ski sold in the United States and are skied routinely in all types of terrain,especially by young *** study investigated the influence of slalom(SL,64 mm underfoot width)and wide skis(WS,97.7 mm underfoot width)on perceptual responses,timed performance,edge inclination angles,and EMG in young alpine ski *** subjects,mean age 12.8±0.5 years,completed one run on each of two courses which were set to approximate the different turning radii of each *** completed a Likert-type questionnaire to assess components of self-efficacy after each *** activity was recorded on the gluteus medius(GM),vastus lateralis,tibialis anterior and peroneus longus(pL).per-ceptions of confidence,aggressiveness,speed,and skiing on line were significantly greater,by about 31%,for SL than WS regardless of *** times were significantly less by 4% for SL than WS,peak edge inclination angle was 7%greater for SL than WS,and pL activity was 40% less for SL compared to *** racers are developing skills to improve their racing techniques and are still forming technique strategies to deal with the many factors present in skiing which may disrupt learning *** lower perceptual and performance responses on WS,young ski racers who ski on groomed snow with WS could be interfering with the adaptation of fundamental racing technique at a critical time in their development.

在发生晚霜的茶园中,试验研究了防霜机不同时间尺度启闭的防霜效果。在茶树萌芽前不同天数、降霜前和日出后不同时间,分别设定开始启用和启闭防霜机的处理,测定其对茶树生长、冠层温度和防霜范围的影响。结果表明:在茶树萌芽前20、15、7 d开始启用防霜机,使新梢长度、芽密度和百芽质量均比对照增加20%以上;防霜机在降霜前2.0、1.5、1.0 h启动,对茶树防霜效果更显著,作用半径比对照增大60%以上;防霜机在日出后2.0、1.5、1.0 h延停,在开始的1 h内可平均减缓冠层温升45.76%,并减小茶树叶片光合强度的降幅。所以,晚霜时为保持茶树较好的长势和产量,应在茶树萌芽前不少于7 d开始启用防霜机,且合适的启动和延停时机分别为降霜前1.0 h和日出后1.0 h。

Group dynamics motivation to increase exercise intensity with a virtual partner

Background: The effect of the K?hler group dynamics paradigm(i.e., working together with a more capable partner where one's performance is indispensable to the team outcome) has been shown to increase motivation to exercise longer at a strength task in partnered exercise video games (exergames) using a software-generated partner(SGp). However, the effect on exercise intensity with an SGp has not been investigated. The purpose of this study was to examine the motivation to maintain or increase exercise intensity among healthy, physically active middle-aged adults using an SGp in an aerobic ***: participants(n = 85, mean age = 44.9 years) exercised with an SGp in a 6-day cycle ergometer protocol, randomly assigned to either(a)no partner control,(b) superior SGp who was not a teammate, or(c) superior SGp as a teammate(team score was dependent on the inferior member). The protocol alternated between 30-min continuous and 4-min interval lhigh-intensity session days, during which participants could change cycle power output(watts) from target intensity to alter distance and ***: Mean change in watts from a targeted intensity(75% and 90% maximum heart rate) was the primary dependent variable reflecting motivational effort. Increases in performance over baseline were demonstrated without significant differences between conditions. Self-efficacy and enjoyment were significantly related to effort in the more intense interval ***: Under these conditions, no K?hler effect was observed. Exercise performance during the higher-intensity interval format is more closely related to enloyment and self-efficacy beliefs compared to the continuous sessions.

Quantifying Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation Dosage after Knee Arthroplasty

Recovering functional ability after total knee arthroplasty （TKA） requires recovery of strength and voluntary activation. Short-term recovery of strength and activation are enhanced following a protocol combining strength training with neuromuscular electrical stimulation （NMES）. The purpose of the study was to determine if a dose response curve could be constructed for patients who received NMES as part of their treatment after TKA. NMES dosage was quantified as the electrically evoked knee extensor torque, expressed as a percentage of the subject＇s maximal voluntary contraction. Dose-response curves were generated, with the associations between NMES training intensity and quadriceps strength, voluntary activation, and lean muscle cross-sectional area examined using pearson product-Moment Correlation Coefficients. Significantly, linear correlations were observed between NMES training intensity and both quadriceps strength and voluntary activation, but not lean muscle cross-sectional area. These results suggest that maximizing the elicited training force during rehabilitation will enhance short-term recovery following TKA.
