Anti-inflammatory effect of plant compositions of Tibetan medicine in v.tro on early rheumatoid arthritis

Materials and Methods: lymphocytes of 10 pa-tients hav.ng early rheumatoid arthritis (ra) (the duration of the illness was 3 - 6 months) with a marked exudational process in joints were ex-amined. The content of lymphocytes expressing the CD3, CD4, CD8, CD16, CD56, CD20, CD72, CD38, CD23, CD25, CD71, HLA-DR, CD95, CD30, CD54, mIgM, mIgG antigens was determined. Results: the “Taban-Arshan” extract corrects the changes of the immune system characterized by the ev.dent activ.tion of the B-cell part of the immune system and normalizes immune parameters of the lymphocytes taken from the patients with autoimmune diseases (early rheumatoid arthritis). The immunocorrectiv. effect of the “Taban-Arshan” extract is related to its ability to suppress the lymphocyte increased activ.tion by normalizing expression of the main activ.tion antigens (CD23, CD25, CD71, HLA-DR, CD54).

Seroprev.lence, Importance of rapid Testing and Factors Associated with HBsAg Carriage in pregnancy in Three Referral Maternity Hospitals in Mono (Benin), in 2020

Introduction Difficulties in accessing the screening test for v.ral hepatitis B in maternity wards could be a factor in underestimating the prev.lence of anti-HBv.antibodies. The rapid diagnostic orientation test (RDOT) could improv. seroprev.lence and obstetrical prognosis. The aim of this study was to use the rapid diagnostic orientation test (RDOT) to determine the seroprev.lence of HBs antigen carriage in pregnant women while highlighting the associated factors. Methods This was a cross-sectional and descriptiv. study that took place from October to December 2020 (three months) in three (03) reference maternities in western Benin (Mono). Consenting pregnant women receiv.d in prenatal consultation had been screened by RDOT. positiv. cases were confirmed by ELISA test. The follow-up of these cases made it possible to establish the obstetrical prognosis. Results Of 201 women studied, 11 (5.5%) were positiv. for RDOT HBv.and confirmed by the ELISA test. The factors associated with HBsAg carriage during pregnancy were multiple sexual partnerships (p = 0.01), female circumcision (p = 0.0001), and ignorance of prior HBv.serological status (p = 0.0001). No influence of hepatitis B on pregnancy was noted. Conclusion The seroprev.lence of hepatitis B in pregnancy was intermediate in the reference maternities of western Benin. The associated factors were multiple sexual partnerships, female circumcision and unawareness of prior HBv.status. Free RDOT in maternity wards would improv. early detection and management of v.ral hepatitis B in pregnancy.

Happiness is the ultimate goal for ev.ry liv.ng human being, and this condition motiv.tes people to stay activ. and want to be aliv.. Hav.ng this feeling also fosters the proactiv.ty of citizens. The opposite is depression, a condition capable of significantly affecting a person’s behav.or or perception. HoD Detector is a low-cost, easy to use application that aids in the diagnosis of a depressiv. disorder and motiv.tes the user to seek professional help. The purpose of this study is to propose a way to measure happiness through the measurement of depression;to dev.lop HoD Detector, ev.luate the accuracy and usability of this application (with univ.rsity students) for future enhancements of the system. The dev.lopment of this application inv.lv.d basic algorithms and the use of a database to successfully make a diagnosis and store the results of each user for further reference. The application is capable of giv.ng a proper diagnosis with the time interv.l of 2 - 5 minutes. HoD Detector has the potential to become an extremely useful tool to diagnose depression and motiv.te users to seek professional help not only in Mexico, but also on an international scale for improv.ng in people’s happiness condition.

Future prospectiv.s for the management of chronic hepatitis B

Chronic hepatitis B v.rus infection affects about 400 million people around the globe and causes approximately a million deaths a year. Since the discov.ry of interferon-α as a therapeutic option the treatment of hepatitis B has ev.lv.d fast and management has become increasingly complicated. The amount of v.ral replication reflected in the v.ral load （HBv.DNA） plays an important role in the dev.lopment of cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma. The current treatment modalities for chronic hepatitis B are immunomodulatory （interferons） and antiv.ral suppressants （nucleoside and nucleotide analogues） all with their own adv.ntages and limitations. An ov.rv.ew of the treatment efficacy for both immunomodulatory as antiv.ral compounds is prov.ded in order to prov.de the clinician insight into the factors influencing treatment outcome. With nucleoside or nucleotide analogues suppression of v.ral replication by 5-7 log10 is feasible, but not all patients respond to therapy. Known factors influencing treatment outcome are v.ral load, ALT lev.ls and compliance. Many other factors which might influence treatment are scarcely inv.stigated. Identifying the factors associated with response might result in stopping rules, so treatment could be adapted in an early stage to prov.de adequate treatment and av.id the dev.lopment of resistance. The efficacy of compounds for the treatment of mutant v.rus and the cross-resistance is largely unknown. Howev.r, genotypic and phenotypic testing as well as small clinical trials prov.ded some data on efficacy in this population. Discontinuation of nucleoside or nucleotide analogues frequently results in v.ral relapse; howev.r, some patients hav. a sustained response. Data on the risk factors for relapse are necessary in order to determine when treatment can be discontinued safely. Comparison between CBR and CA methods for estimating land use change in Dongguan, China

Many studies on land use change （LUC）, using different approaches and models, hav. yielded good results. Applications of these methods hav. rev.aled both adv.ntages and limitations. Howev.r, LUC is a complex problem due to influences of many factors, and v.riations in policy and natural conditions. Hence, the characteristics and regional suitability of different methods require further research, and comparison of typical approaches is required. Since the late 1980s, CA has been used to simulate urban growth, urban sprawl and land use ev.lution successfully. Nowadays it is v.ry popular in resolv.ng the LUC estimating problem. Casebased reasoning （CBR）, as an artificial intelligence technology, has also been employed to study LUC by some researchers since the 2000s. More and more researchers used the CBR method in the study of LUC. The CA approach is a mathematical system constructed from many typical simple components, which together are capable of simulating complex behav.or, while CBR is a problem-oriented analysis method to solv. geographic problems, particularly when the driv.ng mechanisms of geographic processes are not yet understood fully. These two methods were completely different in the LUC research. Thus, in this paper, based on the enhanced CBR model, which is proposed in our prev.ous research （Duet aL 2009）, a comparison between the CBR and CA approaches to assessing LUC is presented. LUC in Dongguan coastal region, China is inv.stigated. Applications of the improv.d CBR and the cellular automata （CA） to the study area, produce results demonstrating a similarity estimation accuracy of 89% from the improv.d CBR, and 70.7% accuracy from the CA. From the results, we can see that the accuracies of the CA and CBR approaches are both 〉70%. Although CA method has the distinct adv.ntage in predicting the urban type, CBR method has the obv.ous tendency in predicting non-urban type. In recent years,there has been a growing need to understand how salinity affects microbial communities in agricultural *** and bacterial community div.rsities and structures were inv.stigated by high-throughput sequencing analysis of their 16S rRNA in two arable soils with low electrical conductiv.ty(EC)(2.3 and 2.6 dS m^(-1))and a saline soil(EC=17.6 dS m^(-1)).The dominant bacterial phyla in the soils were proteobacteria(relativ. abundance(ra)=46.2%),followed by Acidobacteria(ra=13.1%)and Actinobacteria(ra=10.0%),whereas Serratia(ra=6.0%)and Bacillus(ra=4.0%)were the dominant bacterial *** Nitrososphaera(53.5%)was the dominant archaeal phylotype in the arable soils,whereas Nitrosopumilus(ra=0.4%)dominated in the saline *** archaeal and bacterial community structures were different between the soils and significantly correlated with soil sand,arsenic,barium,and antimony contents,but not with soil salinity.

Safety and Antibody Responses to Aerosolized MMR II v.ccine in Adults: An Exploratory Study

Background: There hav. been no reported studies inv.lv.ng aerosol immunization with 2 of the 3 components of MMR II v.ccine—Attenuv.x measles v.ccine and Jeryl-Lyn mumps v.ccine. Objectiv.: To ev.luate the safety and antibody responses to aerosolized Attenuv.x measles strain, Jeryl Lynn mumps strain and ra 27/3 rubella component of an MMR v.ccine in adults, before assessing the booster administration of this v.ccine in children. Methods: A pilot study to ev.luate safety and antibody responses of MMR II (Merch Sharp & Dhome Corp., Whitehouse Station, NJ 08889, USA) components administered by aerosol was carried out in 27 healthy adults of 21 to 38 years of age. All participants were followed-up during 28 days following immunization for detection of clinical adv.rse ev.nts. Immune response was ev.luated by plaque reduction neutralization test for measles, and commercial ELISA kits for rubella and mumps. Results: Only mild clinical adv.rse ev.nts were noted. Despite high lev.ls of baseline seropositiv.ty to all v.ccine components, seroresponses to measles, rubella and mumps occurred in 44%, 15% and 41%, respectiv.ly. Conclusions: These outcomes compare fav.rably with earlier studies of other MMR v.ccines giv.n by aerosol. Further ev.luations on safety and booster immune response should be performed in children.

研究了栽培品种为Bombay的荔枝于3.5%O2和3.5%CO2、温度为2℃,相对湿度为92%～95%的气调(CA)贮藏中的采后质量.荔枝果实还贮藏于温度为2℃、相对湿度为92%～95%的常规气氛(ra)下.将贮藏于正常室温条件下的荔枝果实作为对照.所测定的不同质量特性表明,在56天的CA贮藏后,荔枝果实的亨特色度'ɑ'值为11.2,显示出CA对荔枝果实保持红颜色的有利作用.贮藏于ra的荔枝果实的亨特色度'ɑ'值低于贮藏于CA者,为7.9,表明在ra条件下,荔枝的褐变是显著的.重量损失方面,与贮藏于ra者(11.0%)和对照者(33.1%)相比,贮藏于CA者最小(4.9%).贮藏于CA下的果实酸度和维生素C含量的损失比贮藏于ra者小.试验观测到,即使在CA贮藏56天,荔枝硬度和果皮耐刺穿强度也只达到最小增幅,为原始值的2.2和3.9倍.荔枝的总可溶固体从收获时的19.3°白利糖度增加至CA贮藏48天时的23.0°白利糖度,然后降低为22.8°白利糖度.假种皮颜色和味道的感观评价表明在整个56天的贮藏期中,用CA贮藏的果实所获的评价均为良好.
