Approximately 1% of plant proteins are predicted to be post-translationally modified with a glycosylphospha- tidylinositol （GpI） anchor that tethers the polypeptide to the outer leaflet of the plasma membrane. Whereas the synthesis and structure of GpI anchors is largely conserved across eukaryotes, the repertoire of functional domains present in the Gpl-anchored proteome has diverged substantially. In plants, this includes a large fraction of the Gpl-anchored proteome being further modified with plant-specific arabinogalactan （AG） O-glycans. The impor- tance of the Gpl-anchored proteome to plant development is underscored by the fact that GpI biosynthetic null mutants exhibit embryo lethality. Mutations in genes encoding specific Gpl-anchored proteins （GAps） further supports their contribution to diverse biological processes, occurring at the interface of the plasma membrane and cell wall, including signaling, cell wall metabolism, cell wall polymer cross-linking, and plasmodesmatal transport. Here, we review the literature concerning plant Gpl-anchored proteins, in the context of their potential to act as molecular hubs that mediate interactions between the plasma membrane and the cell wall, and their potential to transduce the signal into the protoplast and, thereby, activate signal transduction pathways.

Australia is facing challenges in controlling Chrysanthemoides monilifera subsp. monilifera（boneseed）. However, burning has achieved some success in this regard. We aimed to investigate the comparative phytotoxicity of boneseed dried powder and ashes（burnt at 450℃ and250℃）. phenolic compounds in powder and ashes were measured using Folin–Ciocalteu assay and HpLC. The phytotoxicity of boneseed powder and ash extracts was assessed through germination bioassay on Lactuca sativa and the phytotoxicity of litter and ashes was evaluated using field soil, both in growth chamber. Burning of boneseed reduced total phenolics in ashes of boneseed organs by 99% and 100% both at high and low temperatures. The four phenolic compounds that were detected in boneseed were either absent or at negligible levels in the ashes,with inversely related to temperature. Both boneseed ash extracts and litter ash-mediated soil significantly reduced phytotoxicity displaying increased germination, biometric and biochemical parameters of test species compared with unburnt powder extracts and litter powder-mediated soil respectively, with greater reduction of phytotoxicity found for ashes produced at the lower temperature. Interestingly, the ash extracts and litter ash-mediated soil were found to stimulate some of those parameters of the test species compared to control. There was no excessive reactive oxygen species（ROS） produced in test species exposed to ash extracts compared with unburnt powder extracts. These findings suggest that burning of boneseed is an appropriate method of weed control and that this approach will reduce phytotoxicity of this species on native plants.

High resolution lasers are necessary to derive the most information from molecular spectra. However, their use uncovers some photophysical processes that compromise the ability to resolve rotational structure. We study the influence of laser optical mode structure on the high resolution spectra of the S1 states of benzonitrile in a supersonic molecular beam using an Ar^＋ pumped cw ring dye laser which is amplified by a pulsed Nd： YA G laser. The latter could be operated either in one optical mode by injecting （seeding） its oscillator with a single mode diode laser, or with many optical modes by not using the seeder. Rotationally resolved lines are obtained when the oscillator of the YAG laser are operated in one single optical mode, but only a continuum is seen when the YAG laser has multiple modes. It is argued that the ac Stark effect is the most probable reason for broadening and blurring the rotational lines.

Bivariate distribution models are veritable tools for improving forest stand volume *** accuracy depends on the method of ***-date,most bivariate distributions in forestry have been constructed either with normal or plackett *** this study,the accuracy of the Frank copula for constructing bivariate distributions was *** effectiveness of Frank and plackett copulas were evaluated on seven distribution models using data from temperate and tropical *** bivariate distributions include:Burr III,Burr XII,Logit-Logistic,Log-Logistic,generalized Weibull,Weibull and *** likelihood was used to fit the models to the joint distribution of diameter and height data of pinus pinaster(184 plots),pinus radiata(96 plots),Eucalyptus camaldulensis(85 plots)and Gmelina arborea(60 plots).Models were evaluated based on negative log-likelihood(-ΛΛ).The result show that Frank-based models were more suitable in describing the joint distribution of diameter and height than most of their plackett-based *** bivariate Burr III distributions had the overall best *** Frank copula is therefore recommended for the construction of more useful bivariate distributions in forestry.

Objective:To explore the identity and phylogenetic relationships among the three medicinally important species of Sphaerostephanos from South India using isozymic ***:The young fronds were homogenized with 3.5 mL of ice-cold homogenizing buffer in a pre-chilled pestle and *** supernatant was subjected to electrophoresis as described by Anbalagan poly acrylamide gel *** solutions for isoperoxidase was prepared as per Smila method for the detection of ***:A total of six different bands in five different positions with different molecular weight/Rf values and four active zones have been observed in the isoperoxidase enzyme system of *** one band with MW/Rf 0.399 is common to two different species *** arbuscula(***) and Sphaerostephanos unitus(***).Among the remaining four bands,two bands(R_f.0.23,0.47)are present in Sphaerostephanos subtruncatus(***) and one distinct band has been observed individually in ***(R_f.0.507) and ***(R_f.0.56).Conclusions:The present preliminary molecular study through isozymic analysis shows the identity of all the three species and the present results confirm distinctness of these three species based on macromicromorphology,phytochemistry and cytology.

Rodents and weeds are important pests to rice crops in Southeast *** interaction between these 2 major pests is poorly *** temperate cereal systems,seeds of grass weeds can be an important food source for rodents and weed cover along crop margins provides important refuge for *** 2012 and 2013,a replicated study(n=4)in Bago,Myanmar compared 4 treatments(rodents and weeds;no rodents and weeds;rodents and no weeds;no rodents and no weeds)each of 0.25 ha in transplanted *** were managed with hand weeding in the wet season,and hand weeding and herbicides in the dry *** fences were installed to exclude *** examined the weed cover and relative abundance of weed species,rodent damage,rodent population dynamics and rice yield loss caused by rodents and *** dominant rodent species was Bandicota *** the dry season,Cyperus difformis was dominant at the tillering stage and Echinochloa crus-galli was the dominant weed species at the booting *** the wet season ***-galli was a dominant weed throughout the *** by rodents was higher in the dry *** were larger economic benefits for best weed management and effective rodent control in the dry season(258 US$/ha)than in the wet season(30 US$/ha).Concurrent control of weeds in and around rice fields combined with coordinated community trapping of rodents during the early tillering stage and ripening stage of rice are recommended management options.
