primary hepatic gastrinoma is a rare disease, with fewer than 40 cases reported in the medical literature. because it is located in an organ in which metastases are common, its diagnosis is difficult. We report a case of a 19 years old male patient with a history of gastric ulcers since the age of nine. Following gastric surgery, an antrectomy and a vagotomy, there was some alleviation of symptoms. Subsequently, the patient reported various intermittent episodes of diarrhea, diffuse abdominal pain, and vomiting. The patient underwent tomography, which revealed the presence of a hepatic mass measuring 19.5 cm × 12.5 cm × 17 cm. primary hepatic gastrinoma was diagnosed based on laboratory examinations that indicated hypergastrinemia and a positron emission tomography/magnetic resonance study with somatostatin analogue that confirmed the liver as the primary site. After hepatic trisegmentectomy(Ⅱ, Ⅲ, Ⅳ, Ⅴ, Ⅷ), the patient's symptoms improved. The case is notable for the presence of a rare tumor with uncommon dimensions.

To show the risks and harm caused by the occupational exposure to the benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and xylenes compounds (bTEX), the working conditions of 113 persons employed at gas stations in the cities of Riach?o do Jacuipe, Feira de Santana and Salvador in the state of bahia, brazil were investigated by experts who correlated protection measures required by law and those applied to the workers. Data collection was performed by help of a questionnaire and non-participant observation record. The age groups of the workers in the three cities surveyed were between 18 to 25 years (30.08%) and 26 to 33 years (34.51%) of the total. The study revealed an association between occupational habits of workers at gas stations and the prevalence of symptoms due to the exposure to the bTEX compounds. Regarding the use of personal protective Equipment (ppE) most workers wear boots. The data show that these workers reported symptoms such as headache, rhinitis, leg pain, drowsiness, cough, fatigue, insomnia, tremors and palpitations. These disorders are related back to previous exposure to bTEX compounds which is associated with inadequate occupational habits of the workers which potentiate chemical contamination in their respective environment.

Sustainability on farms is a challenge to competitiveness in the globalized market. In this scenario, due to the strong environmental, economic and social appeal, crop-livestock-forest integration systems have been considered as the future of agriculture. Regarding the economic approach, this system is based on the diversification of income generating activities, with revenue entry at different times, rationalization of resource use and reduction of risk of financial losses. Thus, the purpose of this work was to carry out the economic analysis of a crop-livestock-forest integration system, located at boa Vereda＇s farm, in the municipality of Cachoeira Dourada in the state of Goi^is in the central-west region of brazil. The system was composed of the following traditional crops of the region： soybean, corn, pasture, beef cattle and eucalyptus. The technical coefficients and the prices used for economic evaluation were obtained from the experimental unit and from the local market when crops were harvested in 2016/2017. The economic indicators used to assess economic viability were the net present value （NpV） and the equivalent annual uniform value （EAUV）. The results showed a return greater than the opportunity cost of the land, showing the attractiveness of the crop-livestock-forest integration system. Thus, this system represents an economically viable alternative that, among other benefits, allows the diversification of its sources of income, with a reduction of risk.

Textile-based technologies are considered as potential routes for the production of 3D porous architectures for tissue engineering( TE) applications. We describe the use of two polymers,namely polybutylene succinate( pbS) and silk fibroin(SF) to produce fiber-based finely tuned porous architectures by weft and warp knittings. The obtained knitted constructs are described in terms of their morphology, mechanical properties,swelling ability,degradation behaviour,and cytotoxicity. Each type of polymer fibers allows for the processing of a very reproducible intra-architectural scaffold geometry,with distinct characteristics in terms of the surface physicochemistry,mechanical performance,and degradation capability,which has an impact on the resulting cell behaviour at the surface of the respective biotextiles. preliminary cytotoxicity screening shows that both materials can support cell adhesion and proliferation. Furthermore, different surface modifications were performed( acid /alkaline treatment, UV radiation,and plasma) for modulating cell behavior. An increase of cell-material interactions were observed,indicating the important role of materials surface in the first hours of culturing. Human adipose-derived stem cells( hASCs) became an emerging possibility for regenerative medicine and tissue replacement therapies. The potential of the recently developed silk-based biotextile structures to promote hASCs adhesion,proliferation,and differentiation is also evaluated. The obtained results validate the developed constructs as viable matrices for TE applications. Given the processing efficacy and versatility of the knitting technology, and the interesting structural and surface properties of the proposed polymer fibers,it is foreseen that our developed systems can be attractive for the functional engineering of tissues such as bone,skin,ligaments or cartilage and also for develop more complex systems for further industrialization of TE products.

background:Neoplasia-induced lichen planus is described as a cell-mediated reaction to unknown epithelial antigens. para-neoplastic pemphigus (pNp), characterized by the presence of a specific array of autoantibodies, probably represents a different form of presentation of the same autoimmune syndrome where the mucocutaneous expression depends on the dominant pathologic mechanism. Methods:The authors report a case of pNp with predominant lichen planus-like lesions and review the relevant literature. We observed a 74-year-old female with vesico-bullous,erosive,target-shaped and flat papular lichenoid lesions on the lower legs, palms and soles, evolving for 3 weeks. Histopathology revealed a lichenoid dermatitis. Direct immunofluorescence showed C3 deposition around keratinocytes and epidermal IgG intranuclear deposition. Indirect immunofluorescence revealed circulating IgG with intercellular staining on rat bladder substrate. Immunoblotting demonstrated bands of 130, 190, 210 and 250 kDa antigens. A pararenal b cell lymphoma was found. Results:Oral corticotherapy with 40 mg prednisolone daily was initiated with a good cutaneous response. Four months later, cyclophosphamide (50 mg/day) was introduced because of a discrete enlargement of the pararenal mass. The patient died on the seventh month of follow up as a result of respiratory insufficiency. Conclusion:pNp has different forms of presentation and the lack of a consensus a.b.ut diagnostic criteria may contribute to underdiagnosed cases. Advances on the knowledge of the sensitivity and specificity of diagnostic criteria have allowed a.b.tter accuracy of diagnosis.

Tomatoes Maturation Analysis with Reflectance Spectral Images

The demands for high quality products are increasing in the market, so several tests are performed. These analyses are destructive, time consuming and sometimes expensive. The spectral imaging technique is an alternative that can reduce costs and time and increase the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of these analyses. In this context, the aim of this study was to verify the spectral behavior of the tomato in function of the maturation and its potential use for non-destructive evaluation of food quality. Eighty tomatoes of the Italian group were selected in four stages of maturation （green, pink, light red and red）. Images were collected in wavelengths 480 nm to 710 nm （every 10 nm）. After the images were collected, the fruits were submitted to the physical-chemical analyses. The following parameters were analyzed： color, color index （CI）, pH, soluble solids （SS）, total titratable acidity （TTA） and ratio （SS/TTA）. After characterization the mean spectrum was obtained by the extraction of the spectral characteristics. It was observed that the spectral behavior was the same for all stages of maturation. It was possible to differentiate the green tomatoes in the wavelengths from 520 nm to 560 nm and from 610 nm to 660 nm. These intervals represent the area of reflection of chlorophyll and lycopene, respectively. Near the wavelength 560 nm, the highest absorbance was recorded by ripe tomatoes due to the concentration of lycopene. It is concluded that the best wavelengths for analysis are those in which green has the highest reflectance and it is possible to apply this technique for non-destructive analysis of the maturation of tomatoes.

Environmental changes derived from global warming and human activities increase the intensity and frequency of stressful conditions for *** abiotic factors acting simultaneously enhance stress pressure and drastically reduce plant growth,yield,and *** combination causes a specific stress situation that induces a particular plant response different to the sum of responses to the individual ***,by comparing transcriptomic and proteomic profiles to different abiotic stress combinations in two citrus genotypes,Carrizo citrange(Citrus sinensis×poncirus trifoliata)and Cleopatra mandarin(Citrus reshni),with contrasting tolerance to different abiotic stresses,we revealed key responses to the triple combination of heat stress,high irradiance and *** specific transcriptomic response to this stress combination in Carrizo was directed to regulate RNA metabolic pathways and translation processes,potentially conferring an advantage with respect to *** addition,we found endoplasmic reticulum stress response as common to all individual and combined stress conditions in both genotypes and identified the accumulation of specific groups of heat shock proteins(HSps),such as small HSps and HSp70s,and regulators of the unfolded protein response,bip2 and pDIL2-2,as possible factors involved in citrus tolerance to triple stress *** together,our findings provide new insights into the acclimation process of citrus plants to multiple stress combination,necessary for increasing crop tolerance to the changing climatic conditions.

Demographic changes during the late pleistocene-Holocene left signatures in the DNA of contemporary populations. These signatures reveal demographic phenomena like the increase or decrease in effective population size. In this paper we searched for signatures of demographic change in the DNA of the Neotropical freshwater fish poecilia vivipara. Also, we investigated whether demographic changes are correlated with palaeoclimatic events of the late pleistocene-Holocene, in particular, if changes in effective population size are correlated with expansion and contraction of available habitats, induced by global ice-volume changes and sea-level fluctuations. We used bayesian Skyline plot (bSp) analysis with sequences from the mitochondrial gene cytochrome b to estimate the ancestral demography of the Neotropical freshwater fish p. vivipara. To test the assumptions of neutrality and absence of population structure we used Tajima’s D and Spatial Analysis of Molecular Variance (SAMOVA), respectively. Effective population size of p. vivipara remained stable until 75,000 years ago, increased by 10-fold reaching a maximum at approximately 25,000 years ago, then suddenly declined at the pleistocene-Holocene boundary. Variation in effective population size in p. vivipara correlates with expansion and contraction of habitats induced by sea-level fluctuations, caused by the advance and retreat of ice sheets during the Last Glacial Maximum (LGM).

Urothelial bladder carcinoma(UbC)is an intricate malignancy with a variable natural history and clinical *** developments in diagnosis/prognosis refi nement and treatment modalities,the recurrence rate is high,and progression from non-muscle to muscle invasive UbC commonly leads to ***,patients with muscle-invasive or extra-vesical disease often fail the standard chemotherapy treatment,and overall survival rates are ***,UbC remains a challenge in the oncology fi eld,representing an ideal candidate for research on biomarkers that could identify patients at increased risk of recurrence,progression,and ***,progress toward personalized medicine has been hampered by the unique genetic complexity of *** genome-wide expression and sequencing studies have brought new insights into its molecular features,pathogenesis and clinical diversity,revealing a landscape where classical pathology is intersected by the novel and heterogeneous molecular ***,it seems plausible to postulate that only an integrated signature of prognostic/predictive biomarkers inherent in different cancer hallmarks will reach clinical *** this review,we have summarized ours and others’research into novel putative biomarkers of progression and chemoresistance that encompass several hallmarks of cancer:tumor neovascularization,invasion and metastasis,and energy metabolism reprogramming of the tumor microenvironment.
