The development of green experimental processes for the synthesis of nanoparticles is a need in the field of nanotechnology. The synthesis of silver nanoparticles was achieved using Bacillus cereus supernatant and1 m M silver nitrate. 100 m M glucose was found to quicken the rate of reaction of silver nanoparticles ***-visible spectrophotometric analysis was carried out to assess the synthesis of silver nanoparticles. The synthesized silver nanoparticles were further characterized by using Nanoparticle Tracking Analyzer(NTA),Transmission Electron Microscope and Energy Dispersive X-ray spectra. These silver nanoparticles showed enhanced quorum quenching activity against Staphylococcus aureus biofilm and prevention of biofilm formation which can be seen under inverted microscope(40 X). The synergistic effect of silver nanoparticles along with antibiotics in biofilm quenching was found to be effective. In the near future, silver nanoparticles could be used in the treatment of infections caused by highly antibiotic resistant biofilm.

The present study deals with the rapid green synthesis of silver nanoparticles using fresh leaves of Cymbopogan Citratus(Lemongrass). Silver nanoparticles were formed within 8～10 minutes by microwave irradiation using aqueous solution of Ag NO3(1 m M) with fresh leaves extract of Cymbopogan Citratus. The synthesized silver nanoparticles were characterized by using UV-visible spectrophotometer analysis, nanoparticle tracking analyzer, transmission electron microscope and energy dispersive X-ray spectra. The antibacterial activity of these nanoparticles was studied against multiple drug resistant hospital isolates of ***, ***,*** and hospital isolates of S. typhi, ***. Also, the antifungal activity of these nanoparticles was studied against ***(hospital isolate) and ***(NCIM 616). The synergistic effect of silver nanoparticles along with antibiotics was also studied against multiple drug resistant hospital isolates and found to be effective. The extracellular synthesis of Silver nanoparticles using leaves of Cymbopogan Citratus appears to be rapid and eco-friendly.

Bethanechol Remains the preferred Drug in Suspected Underactive Bladder: Findings from Nation-Wide prescription Analysis

Background: Bethanechol chloride, a cholinergic agonist, is often prescribed in suspected underactive bladders to improve detrusor contractility, despite its limited clinical efficacy. We investigated the usage pattern of bethanechol in actual practice with the understanding that it would enable the physicians to make an informed decision on the coherent use of bethanechol. Methods: A nation-wide survey was carried out to obtain the responses of the urologists. Out of the 755 urologists approached, 630 survey responses were considered for analysis. Results: Usage of bethanechol was advocated as very common [318 (50.48%)], common [200 (31.75%)], not so common [107 (16.98%)], and rare [5 (0.79%)] in postoperative urinary retention, where it was preferred either exclusively [255 (40.48%)] or along with alpha blockers [247 (39.21%)]. predilection to use alpha-blocker [247 (39.21%)], alpha-blocker plus naloxone [4 (0.64%)], naloxone [1 (0.16%)], alpha-blocker plus bethanechol plus naloxone [1 (0.16%)] was also observed. It was also preferred individually in pathologies causing urinary retention such as benign prostatic hyperplasia [125 (19.84%)], diabetic neuropathy [82 (13.02%)], neurological diseases [69 (10.95%)], senile bladder [14 (2.22%)], drugs [13 (2.06%)], and infective/inflammatory conditions [6 (0.95%)]. Other [321 (50.95%)] physicians opted to prescribe bethanechol in two or more of the enumerated indications. Bethanechol was prescribed orally as 25 mg thrice daily [441 (70.00%)], 50 mg thrice daily [86 (13.65%)], 25 mg four times daily [59 (9.37%)], and many “strongly agree” and “agree” that its sustained release formulation may offer better treatment compliance [565 (89.68%)], safety [548 (86.99%)], and efficacy [544 (86.35%)]. Conclusion: Bethanechol was the most prescribed drug for the management of postoperative urinary retention and other pathologies suspected to cause underactive bladder.

OBJECTIVE： Consuming botanical dietary supplements or herbal drugs along with prescription drugs may lead to potential pharmacokinetic-pharmacodynamic（pK-pD） herb-drug interactions（HDI）. The present study focuses on the importance of and novel approach for assessing HDI in integrative medicine with case examples of two frequently-used Ayurvedic Rasayana ***： The aqueous extracts of Asparagus racemosus（ARE） and Gymnema sylvester（GSE） were prepared as per Ayurvedic pharmacopoeia of India. Chemoprofiling of these extracts was done using high-performance liquid chromatography（HpLC）. Additionally, ARE was characterized for the presence of shatavarins IV and I using HpLC ＆ mass spectroscopy respectively. Effects of ARE and GSE were investigated on rat liver microsome using testosterone probe drug assay. The changes in formation of metabolite（6-β hydroxy testosterone） were monitored on incubation of testosterone alone, testosterone with ketoconazole, ARE and GSE using HpLC. Half inhibitory concentration（IC50） was used to predict plausible ***： ARE and GSE showed no inhibition with IC50 values 〉1 000 μg/m L while the standard inhibitor ketoconazole completely abolished CYp3A4-dependent activity at 0.531 μg/m L and IC50 was found to be 0.036 μg/m ***： ARE and GSE prepared as per Ayurvedic pharmacopoeia of India were found to be safe for CYp3A4-mediated inhibitory HDI in rats. Our in vitro study suggests the need of further in vivo investigation for HDI in order to provide clinical relevance.

Microbial growth in soil is mostly limited by lack of carbon (C). However, adding fresh, C-rich litter can induce nitrogen (N) limitation. We studied the effect of alleviating C and N limitation in high-pH (> 8) soils, soils expected to favor bacterial over fungal growth. Nitrogen limitation was induced by incubating soils amended with C-rich substrate (starch or straw) for 4 weeks. Limiting nutrients and the effects of alleviating limitation were then studied by adding C (as glucose) or N (as NH_4NO_3) and measuring microbial growth and respiration after 4 d. In non-amended, C-limited soils, adding C but not N increased both microbial respiration and bacterial growth. In N-limited, substrate-amended soils, adding C increased respiration, whereas adding N increased both microbial respiration and growth. Inducing N limitation by amending with straw was most easily detected in increased fungal growth after the addition of N, whereas with starch, only bacterial growth responded to alleviating N limitation. Compared to earlier results using a low-pH soil, the effect of substrate used to induce N limitation was more important than pH for inducing bacterial or fungal growth after alleviating N limitation. Furthermore, we found no evidence that alleviating N limitation resulted in decreased respiration concomitant with increased microbial growth in soil, suggesting no drastic changes in C use efficiency.

A simple and high yielding method for the integration of 1,5-benzodiazepines integrated with 5-methyl- 2-oxo-3-phenyl-△^4-1,3,4-oxadiazolines in 75%-90% yield by microwave irradiation is devised. Microwave-accelerated reaction was compared with thermal method. All the compounds were characterized by physical, analytical and spectral （IR, 1^H NMR, MS） data. Title compounds were screened for preliminary pharmacological activities.

Gas metal arc welding （GMAW） develops an arc by controlling the metal from the wire rod and the input pro- cess parameters. The deposited metal forms a weld bead and the mechanical properties depend upon the quality of the weld bead. proper control of the process parameters which affect the bead geometry, the microstructures of the weldments and the mechanical properties like hardness, is necessary. This experimental study aims at developing mathematical models for bead height （HB）, bead width （WB） and bead penetration （pB） and investigating the effects of four process parameters viz： welding voltage, welding speed, wire feed rate and gas flow rate on bead geometry, hardness and microstructure of AISI321 steel with 10 mm thickness. The transient thermal analysis shows temperature and residual stress distributions at different conduction and convection conditions.
