Comparison of ISS, NISS, and RTS score as predictor of mortality in pediatric fall

Background:Studies to identify an ideal trauma score tool representing prediction of outcomes of the pediatric fall patient remains elusive. Our study was undertaken to identify better predictor of mortality in the pediatric fall patients. Methods:Data was retrieved from prospectively maintained trauma registry project at level 1 trauma center developed as part of Multicentric project—Towards Improving Trauma Care Outcomes (TITCO) in India. Single center data retrieved from a prospectively maintained trauma registry at a level 1 trauma center, New Delhi, for a period ranging from 1 October 2013 to 17 February 2015 was evaluated. Standard anatomic scores Injury Severity Score (ISS) and New Injury Severity Score (NISS) were compared with physiologic score Revised Trauma Score (RTS) using receiver operating curve (ROC). Results:Heart rate and RTS had a statistical difference among the survivors to nonsurvivors. ISS, NISS, and RTS were having 50, 50, and 86% of area under the curve on ROCs, and RTS was statistically significant among them. Conclusions: physiologically based trauma score systems (RTS) are much better predictors of inhospital mortality in comparison to anatomical based scoring systems (ISS and NISS) for unintentional pediatric falls.

Objective:The study aimed to assess the effectiveness of lukewarm water compress on breast pain and breast engorgement among post-cesarean primiparous *** and Methods:This quasi-experimental posttest-only design was conducted with 60 post-cesarean section primiparous mothers between October 2018 and January 2019.A simple random sampling technique was used to allocate 30 participants to both experimental and control *** experimental group received lukewarm water compress using a sponge cloth for 20 min twice a day on the second,third,and fourth postnatal *** control group received routine hospital *** pain and engorgement were assessed using the Visual Analog pain Scale and Breast Engorgement Assessment Scale on the third,fourth,and fifth postnatal ***:Significant differences were observed between the experimental and control groups on day 1 and day 3 in terms of breast pain and engorgement scores among post-cesarean section mothers(pphic and breastfeeding parameters and breast pain and engorgement(p>0.05).Conclusion:Lukewarm water compress is effective in reducing breast pain and engorgement in post-cesarean primiparous *** research can include randomized controlled trials to evaluate the effectiveness of different therapies in treating breast pain and engorgement.

Colonic diverticulosis can either be asymptomatic or present with complications resulting in significant morbidity and mortality.A key presentation of complicated disease is abscess formation(Hinchey type Ⅱ).The natural course of this is unclear and therefore treatments range from conservative approach with antibiotics and percutaneous guided drainage(pCD) to *** is no clear consensus on the exact management strategy.A Medline based literature search specifically looking at studies dealing with Hinchey type Ⅱ diverticulitis and its management was carried *** comparison,five-year retrospective data of diverticular abscesses from our institution was collected and the outcome *** studies have looked into this aspect of the disease,elaborating on the significance of the size and location of the abscesses,the role of pCD,recurrence rates and the controversies regarding the need for elective *** treatment with antibiotics alone is effective in a majority of cases with a role for pCD in large safely accessible *** recurrence rates have been reported in literature and elective surgery should be planned for selected groups of patients.

Growing competition in the software industry with the persistently changing needs and the usual?problems associated with software release, which have made acceptance of a new software in?market, are extremely important for the success. Volatility in the software developmental processes is generally difficult to handle. The change request at any arbitrary point of time leads to the inevitable change and rework request. The software release process which broadly includes all the process that starts after the completion of development till the final deployment. This complete phase is exposed to various risks which may hamper the final result. Densities, ρ, ultrasonic speeds, u, viscosities, η , and refractive indices, n, of pure benzene, benzyl alcohol (BA), benzonitrile (BN), benzoyl chloride (BC), chlorobenzene (CB) and their thirty six binary mixtures, with benzene as common component, were measured at 303.15 K over the entire mole fraction range. From these experimental data the values of deviations in ultrasonic speed, Δu, isentropic compressibility, Δks, excess acoustic impedance, ZE, deviation in viscosity, Δη, and excess Gibbs free energy of activation of viscous flow, G*E, and partial molar isentropic compressibility, of BA, BN, BC and CB in benzene were computed. The variation of these derived functions with composition of the mixtures suggested the increased cohesion (molecular order) in the solution and that interaction (A-B)>(A-A) or (B-B). Moreover, theoretical prediction of ultrasonic speed, viscosity and refractive index of all the four binary mixtures was made on the basis of empirical and semi-empirical relations by using the experimental values of the pure components. Comparison of theoretical results with the experimental values was made in order to assess the suitability of these relations in reproducing the experimental values of u, η and n. Also, molecular radii of pure liquids and the average molecular radii of binary mixtures were evaluated using the corresponding refractive indices of pure liquids and binary mixtures. The average molecular radii of binary mixtures were found to be additive with respect to mole fraction of the pure component.

Here, we have synthesized the silver nanoparticles (AgNps) by using the soil fungus Aspergillus niger 2587. The results recorded from UV-vis spectrophotometer and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) support the biosynthesis and characterization of AgNps. The synthesized silver nanoparticles have also been tested against the larvae and pupae of Anopheles stephensi, Culex quinquefasciatus and Aedes aegypti. The efficacy test was performed at different concentrations for a period of different hours by the probit analysis. The larvae of Cx. quinquefasciatus have shown the 100% mortality to the synthesized AgNps after 1 h of exposure, while the larvae of An. stephensi and Ae. aegypti were found less susceptible to the synthesized AgNps. The pupa of Ae. aegypti has shown the efficacy LC50 4, LC90 12 and LC99 19 ppm after 2 h of exposure of the synthesized AgNps, while, the pupae of Cx. quinquefasciatus and An. stephensi were found less susceptible to the synthesized AgNps. By this approach, it is suggestive that this rapid synthesis of nanoparticles would be proper for developing a biological process for mosquito control.

This paper proposes a polarization multiplexed interrogation technique for fiber Bragg grating （FBG） sensor array. The novelty of the proposed model is its ability to reduce interference and cross talk, thus allowing larger number of FBG sensors to be interrogated in an array. The calibration technique has been illustrated in this work for the FBG sensor array, where data from each sensor are linearly polarized and multiplexed before co-propagation, to find out the tapping points that enable identification of each sensor data uniquely. Simulation has been carried out for odd number and even number of sensors in an array. Even with interfering input, this proposed scheme can interrogate and distinctively identify each sensor data using appropriate tuning of polarization-splitter, polarization-rotator, and polarization-attenuator at the detector end during the calibration process. The significance of the proposed method is its compact size, which makes this calibration system ready to be deployed in real-time sensing applications and data acquisition from the FBG sensor array.
