Synthesis and characterization of the nanostructured solid solution with extended solubility of graphite in nickel by mechanical alloying

In the present work,mechanical alloying of a powder mixture of nickel and graphite(up to 15wt%)was carried out in an attrition mill under a nitrogen *** as-milled powders were characterized by scanning electron microscopy(SEM),X-ray diffraction(XRD),and transmission electron microscopy(TEM).The 15wt%graphite dissolved into the nickel(exceeding the negligible solid solubility in the nickel–carbon system),thereby forming a supersaturated solid solution of graphite in a nickel *** dissolved graphite occupied interstitial positions along the dislocation edges and at the grain-boundary regions.A three-step graphite dissolution mechanism has been *** associated changes in the nickel lattice,such as changes in the crystallite size(62 to 43 nm),lattice strain(0.12%to 0.3%),and lattice parameter(0.3533 to 0.3586 nm),which led to the formation of the supersaturated solid solution,were also evaluated and discussed.

Objective: The present study investigated the anticataract activity of a novel isoflavonoid, isolated from stem bark of Alstonia scholaris, against fructose-induced experimental ***: The bioactivity of fractions extracted from A. scholaris, an isolated isoflavonoid(ASII) was screened using in vitro(goat lens) and in vivo(albino rats) experimental cataract models. For the in vivo evaluation, albino rats(12–15 weeks old) were divided into five groups(n = 6). Group I(normal)received 0.3% carboxymethyl cellulose solution(10 m L/[kgád], p.o.). Group II(control) received 10%(w/v)fructose solution in their drinking water. Groups III–V received ASII at three different doses, 0.1, 1.0 and10 mg/(kgád), concurrently with 10%(w/v) fructose solution. Treatment was given daily for 8 consecutive weeks. During the protocol, systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, blood glucose level and lenticular opacity were monitored at 2-week intervals. pathophysiological markers(catalase, superoxide dismutase, glutathione peroxidase, reduced glutathione and malondialdehyde) in eye lenses were examined at the end of the 8-week treatment ***: The results of in vitro study showed that A. scholaris extract and the active fraction(A3) reduced the lenticular opacity as compared to toxic control group. The in vivo study showed that 8-week administration of ASII(0.1, 1.0 and 10 mg/[kgád], p.o.) led to significant reduction in blood pressure and blood glucose level and retarded the initiation and evolution of cataractogenesis, compared to the fructoseinduced cataract model control. Additionally, ASII treatment led to significant improvement in lens antioxidants(catalase, superoxide dismutase, glutathione peroxidase and reduced glutathione) and decreased lens malondialdehyde, compared to the control group(group II).Conclusion: Results revealed that administration of ASII played a crucial role in the reduction of cataract formation in diabetic and hypertensive models.

In this reported work,we study a major X-class flare(X9.3) that arose from NOAA Active Region(AR) 12673 on 2017 September 6,from 11:53 UT to 12:10 UT in multi-wavelength *** event also produced a fast coronal mass ejection(CME).NOAA AR 12673 emerged at S09 W30 on 2017 September6 and grew rapidly to a large *** 2017 September 9,the maximum area of this AR was 1060 millionth of the solar *** group of sunspots disappeared over the west limb of the Sun(S09 W83) on September *** was a fast emerging flux *** group of sunspots showed magnetic configuration category *** identified their earliest signatures of eruption in AIA 94A images with initialization and successive rapid growth from low coronal heights of hot channeled *** the other hand,the CME associated with this flare event triggered the intense Dst at 1 AU(–142 nT).We have acquired observations and analyze the reported event from the Sun’s surface,corona(source AR),interplanetary space and in-situ measurement near *** addition,here we analyze the complex processes of CMECME interaction that have contributed a significant role to make the reported event so geoeffective.

This study investigates the effect of learning in fuzziness by considering fuzzy demand in theEOQ model for deteriorating items under a finite time *** crisp equivalent form of the fuzzy objective function is obtained by employing the centroid *** calculus,the number of replenishments which optimizes the fuzzy objective function is *** model is extended by applying learning in fuzziness and an algorithm is developed to determine the number of *** illustrations are provided for the model under a crisp,fuzzy and fuzzylearning *** results reveal that the cost is lower with learning in fuzziness than that of without learning in ***,results indicate that the learning in fuzziness is more effective whenever the parameter has higher impreciseness in the estimation of its value.

This study investigates an inventory model for a non-instantaneous deteriorating item with partial backlogging wherein the demand is stochastic in nature and depends on price and promotional effort whereas the deterioration rate is time *** these settings,a mathematical model is developed with the objective to maximise the expected profit per unit time by determining the optimal price and the length of replenishment *** useful theoretical results are established to deduce the optimal replenishment *** effective algorithmic procedure is developed to find the optimal solutions to the proposed *** applicability of the proposed model is illustrated by numerical *** analysis of the optimal solution with respect to key parameters has been carried out and the implications are *** study indicates that though promotional effort stimulates the market demand,it is beneficial in an economic sense when it applies in a conservative manner.

Florid reactive periostitis ossificans of the humerus: Case report and differential diagnosis of periosteal lesions of long bones

A case of florid reactive periostitis ossificans(RpO) arising in a long bone is presented. This is a rare bone proliferation with a pronounced periosteal reaction. Less than 100 cases have been described in the literature with far fewer outside the bones of the hand, feet, fingers, and toes. Although the etiology is unknown, a relationship to preceding trauma is suggested. The imaging and histologic features show an overlap with other bone lesions including bizarre parosteal osteochondromatous proliferation, subungual exostosis, and malignant surface tumors of bone and cartilage which include, periosteal and parosteal osteosarcoma. It is important to recognize the clinical presentation and diagnostic features of RpO as a benign entity so that it is not mistaken for a more aggressive neoplasm. We present a case of a right distal humeral lesion that on histopathological review revealed florid RpO. This diagnosis was not suspected on imaging studies, but was made on open biopsy of the mass. The patient remains disease free, years postoperatively. In addition to presenting this unique case report, we review the pertinent literature, and offer a differential diagnosis and treatment strategy for its management.
