In the era of antibiotic resistance,in silico prediction of bacterial resistome pro-files,likely to be associated with inactivation of new potential antibiotics is of utmost *** this,to the best of our knowledge,no tool exists for such ***,under the rationale that drugs with similar structures have similar resistome profiles,we devel-oped two models,a deterministic model and a stochastic model,to predict the bacterial re-sistome likely to neutralize uncharacterized but potential chemical *** current version of the tool involves the prediction of a resistome for Escherichia coli and pseudomonas *** deterministic model on omitting two diverse but relatively less characterized drug classes,polyketides and polypeptides showed an accuracy of 87%,a sensitivity of 85%,and a precision of 89%,whereas the stochastic model predicted antibiotic classes of the test set compounds with an accuracy of 72%,a sensitivity of 75%,and a precision of 83%.The models have been implemented in both a standalone package and an online server,uCAREChemSuite-CLI and uCARE Chem Suite,*** addition to resistome prediction,the online version of the suite enables the user to visualize the chemical structure,classify compounds in 19 pre-defined drug classes,perform pairwise alignment,and cluster with database compounds using a graphical user interface.

proximal Femoral Nail in Reverse Trochanteric Femoral Fractures: An Analysis of 53 Cases at One Year Follow-Up

Treatment of reverse oblique trochanteric femoral fractures poses a lot of challenges. There have been proponents of intramedullary devices as well as extramedullary devices. We present the results of proximal femoral nailing surgery performed for reverse obliquity intertrochanteric fractures using two proximal lag screws and a nail of 250 mm. There is prospective study of fifty three patients with AO/OTA 31 A-A3 fractures being treated by proximal femoral nailing in our institute after seeking approval from the Hospital ethics board. The quality of the reduction, the operative time, complications and the functional status of the patients were the parameters on which the results were evaluated. The mean Harris hip score was 76.66 (range 70 - 93) and the mean Barthel activity score was 16.21 (range 12 - 20). The average surgical time was 50 minutes and the mean consolidation time was 11.5 weeks. Intramedullary nailing with proximal femoral nails seems to be a good option in the treatment of reverse obliquity intertrochanteric fractures as against the various existing options available for the management.

Luminescence properties of Gd^(3+) containing glasses for ultra-violet(UV) light

Effect of Gd2O3 addition on optical properties of 27.5 Li2O-72.5 B2O3 glass systems was studied. Density, differential thermal analysis （DTA）, optical absorption spectra and luminescence technique were used to characterize the prepared glasses. Emis- sion spectra showed two band 6p7/2→8S7/2 （311.5 nm） and 6p5/2→8S7/2 （305 nm） under the excitation of 274 nm. The intense emission at 311.5 nm suggested that these glasses could be useful as source of narrowband UV light.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to define a treatment protocol in which a non-vascularized endosteal fibular strut graft, a corticocancellous grafts and a locking plate construct are used for stabilization of the delayed and neglected proximal humerus fractures and to report its outcome. Patients & Methods: Eleven patients (6 females and 5 males) with delayed, neglected proximal humerus fractures were included in this study, conducted between March 2015 and December 2019. Average age of the patients was 57 years (range: 41 to 67 yrs). All patients were treated with the debridement, decortication and shingling of the bone at the site of the fracture followed by using an endosteal fibular strut graft, corticocancellous bone grafts and stabilization with locking plate. The patients were followed up for a mean time of 16.3 months (range: 13 to 40 months). The patient outcomes were evaluated using the Disabilities of the Arm, Shoulder, and Hand Questionnaire, and the modified scoring system of Constant and Murley. Results: Union at the fracture site was achieved in all patients at a mean of 8.5 months (range: 6 to 11 months). The DASH score improved from an average pre-operative score of 71.1 (range: 64 to 78) to an average post-operative score of 25.2 (range: 21 to 35) at the final follow-up. Albeit with a small sample size of n = 11, this difference was found to be statistically significant (p pan>0.05). The CM score improved from an average pre-operative score of 33.2

Heavy Metal Contamination of Vegetables

In India, several (>50) vegetables are widely used as food due to their high nutrition values. However, vegetables in industrial area are getting contaminated with heavy metals by disturbing biological and biochemical processes in the human body. In present study, the risk of human health by heavy metals (Fe, As, Cr, Mn, Cu, Zn, pb, Cd and Hg) through the intake of common vegetables i.e. Solanum lycopersicum, Solanum melongena, Amaranthus tricolor L., Chenopodium album L., Spinacia oleracea and Coriandrum sativum obtained from the largest coal burning basin, Korba, India is described . The concentration of Fe, As, Cr, Mn, Cu, Zn, Cd, pb and Hg in the soils (n = 6) was ranged from 18,328 - 37,980, 85 - 105, 34 - 72, 314 - 760, 146 - 165, 126 - 164, 1.11 - 1.39, 116 - 148 and 0.11 - 0.21 mg/kg with mean value (p = 0.05) of 28,011 ± 6582, 96 ± 6, 57 ± 11, 597 ± 148, 153 ± 5, 145 ± 11, 1.26 ± 0.10, 133 ± 11 and 0.16 ± 0.03 mg/kg, respectively. The contamination, sources and bioaccumulation, pollution and health risk indices of the heavy metals i.e. As, Fe, Cr, Mn, Cu, Zn, pb, Cd and Hg in the plants are described.

Contamination of Heavy Metals and Nutrients in Sediment, Sludge and Sewage of India

The stagnant water bodies in India are sink for contaminant i.e. detergent, fertilizer, nutrients, heavy metal, pesticide, microbe, etc. The contamination and sources of elements i.e. Al, K, p, S, Cl, As, Ca, Sr, Ba, Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Ni, Cu, Zn and pb in the sediment, sludge and sewage materials of the most industrialized cities of central India i.e. Raipur, Bhilai and Korba is described. The dominated metals i.e. Al, K, Ca, Ti, Fe and Mn in the geowaste materials (n = 20) contributed in the range of 4.8% - 36.3% with mean value of 10.2% ± 2.9%. The ∑4 concentration of nutrients i.e. p, K, S and Cl ranged from 1.2 - 12.5 g/kg with mean value of 7.9 ± 1.3 g/kg. The concentration of other heavy metals (HMs) i.e. As, V, Cr, Ni, Cu, Zn and pb ranged from 12 - 105, 35 - 175, 88 - 392, 14 - 77, 32 - 185, 38 - 626 and 18 - 228 mg/kg with mean value of 644 ± 78, 83 ± 15, 182 ± 41, 44 ± 7, 68 ± 18, 199 ± 71 and 85 ± 25 mg/kg, respectively. The spatial and vertical distribution, enrichment and sources of the elements in the sediments are discussed.

使用Soxhlet提取装置,用氯仿、乙酸乙酯、丙酮、甲醇4种不同溶剂对沙棘籽分别进行8小时萃取。粗提物被用来进行抗氧化和抗菌活性筛选。在离体模型(清除DppH自由基和脂质体模型系统)中的粉末减少和抗氧化活性评价显示在各种提取物中使用甲醇作为萃取剂的提取物具有最高的抗氧化活性。甲醇提取物也具有最高的抗菌活性。最低抑制浓度(MIC)评价显示,在加入甲醇提取物对蜡状芽孢杆菌、凝结芽孢杆菌、枯草芽孢杆菌、单核细胞增生利斯特菌、小肠结肠炎耶尔森氏菌进行培养,MIC浓度分别为200,300,300,300,和350ppm。研究结果表明,沙棘种子应用于医药和食品储藏。
