A hybrid model for energy efficient spectrum sensing in cognitive radio

Background The impact of changing land-use patterns and associated anthropogenic threats on scale-dependent habitat use of semi-aquatic mustelids in scent-marking and social behaviour can provide important insights into the habitat ecology of smooth-coated otters(Lutrogale perspicillata).Methods We sampled 180 stream segments(100–400 m) as spatial replicates of 60 1-km2 sites to record indirect evidence(i.e. spraints and mass latrine sites) and group sizes of smooth-coated otters along the Tungabhadra Otter Conservation Reserve(TOCR) during the dry season. To quantify habitat, we recorded stream characteristics, riparian vegetation, and anthropogenic disturbances at the local scale, and hydro-environmental characteristics and land uses at the landscape scale. Using Markovian-chain detection and occupancy models, we assessed the multi-scale habitat use of otters in their selection of suitable areas for scent-marking based on repeated presence-absence data on spraint/latrine locations along the TOCR. We further used linear regression techniques to explore relationships between the number of individuals in smooth-coated otter group and hydro-environmental characteristics, spraint/latrine encounter rate, anthropogenic pressure, land cover, topography, and *** At the local scale, the probability of spraint deposition and group size decreased with anthropogenic disturbance while the probability of spraint detections decreased with grass cover. At the landscape scale, the probability of otter site use for spraint deposition and group sizes increased in southeast flowing streams. A Concise Review of Gold Nanoparticles-Based photo-Responsive Liposomes for Controlled Drug Delivery

The focus of drug delivery is shifting toward smart drug carriers that release the cargo in response to a change in the microenvironment due to an internal or external trigger. As the most clinically successful nanosystem, liposomes naturally come under the spotlight of this trend. This review summarizes the latest development about the design and construction of photo-responsive liposomes with gold nanoparticles for the controlled drug release. Alongside, we overview the mechanism involved in this process and the representative applications.

Cryptic species composition and genetic diversity within Bemisia tabaci complex in soybean in India revealed by mtCOI DNA sequence

Bemisia tabaci is a cryptic species complex, causing signiifcant loss on many agricultural y important crops worldwide. Knowledge on species composition and diversity within B. tabaci complex is critical for evolving sustainable pest management strategies. Here we investigate the whitelfy species complex in soybean in major soybean growing states of India. The mitochondrial cytochrome oxidase gene subunit-1 (mtCOI) based phylogenetic relationships established using Bayesian methods indicated the existence of three cryptic species namely Asia I, Asia II 1, and Asia II 7. Al the haplotypes detected in the study could be assigned to these three cryptic species fol owing the species demarcation criteria of 3.5%divergence threshold. Of these, Asia II 1 was found to be predominant with wide spread distribution across the surveyed regions from cool temperate zones to hot and humid tropical plains. On the contrary, cryptic species Asia II 7 showed localized distribu-tion. The Asia II 1 exhibited the highest haplotype diversity and Asia I showed high level of nucleotide diversity. There was a signiifcantly high genetic differentiation among these three cryptic species. The MEAM 1, a dreadful invasive species was not detected in the specimens tested in the current study. The diversity and distribution of three cryptic species is discussed in the light of current knowledge on distribution of whitelfy species in India and yel ow mosaic disease observed during sampling survey.

physical and mechanical characteristics of composite briquette from coal and pretreated wood fines

Melina wood torrefied at 260℃ for 60 min was agglomerated with lean grade coal fines into composite briquettes using pitch as *** biomass(3%-20%)and coal fines(80%-97%)were blended together to produce the composite briquettes under a hydraulic press(28 Mpa).The briquettes were cured at 300℃.Density,water resistance,drop to fracture,impact resistance,and cold crushing strength were evaluated for the composite *** proximate,ultimate,and calorific value analyses were carried out according to different ASTM *** studies were carried out using scanning electron microscope and electron probe microanalyzer equipped with energy dispersive *** Transform Infrared Spectrophotometer(FTIR)was used to obtain the functional groups in the raw materials and *** density of the composite briquettes ranged from 0.92 to 1.31 g/cm^(3) after *** with95%).The highest cold crushing strength of 4 Mpa was obtained for briquettes produced from 97%coal fines and 3%torrefied *** highest drop to fracture(54 times/2 m)and impact resistance index(1350)were obtained for the sample produced from 97%coal and 3%torrefied *** fixed and elemental carbons of the briquettes showed a mild improvement compared to the raw *** peaks from FTIR spectra for the briquettes shows the presence of aromatic C=C bonds and phenolic OH *** composite briquettes with up to 20%torrefied biomass can all be useful as fuel for various applications.

Genotype phenotype correlation in Wilson's disease within families-a report on four south Indian families

AIM: To study the genotype phenotype correlation in Wilson's disease (WD) patients within families. METHODS: We report four unrelated families from South India with nine members affected with WD. phenotype was classified as per international consensus phenotypic classifi cation of WD. DNA was extracted from peripheral blood and 21 exons of ATp7B gene and flanking introns were amplified by polymerase chain reaction (pCR). The pCR products were screened for mutations and the aberrant products noted on screening were sequenced. RESULTS: Four separate ATp7B mutations were found in the four families. ATp7B mutations were identical amongst affected members within each family. Three families had homozygous mutations of ATp7B gene while one family had compound heterozygous mutation, of which only one mutation was identifi ed. We noted concordance between ATp7B gene mutation and Wilson's disease phenotype amongst members within each family. The age of onset of symptoms or of detection of asymptomatic disease, baseline serum ceruloplasmin and baseline urinary copper levels were also similar in affected members of each family. Minor differences in phenotype and baseline serum ceruloplasmin level were noted in one ***: We report concordance between ATp7B mutation and WD phenotype within each family with > 1 member affected with WD. Homozygous ATp7B mutation was present in 3 of the 4 families studied. Our report supports allelic dominance as a determinant of WD phenotype. However, in one family with compound heterozygous mutation, there was a similar WD phenotype which suggests that there may be other factors determining the phenotype.
