lowering the synthesis temperature of boron nitride nanotubes(BNNTs)is crucial for their *** primary reason for adopting a high temperature is to enable the effective activation of highmelting-point solid *** this study,we developed a novel approach for efficiently activating boron by introducing alkali metal compounds into the conventional MgO–B *** approach can be adopted to form various low-melting-point AM–Mg–B–O growth *** growth systems have improved catalytic capability and reactivity even under low-temperature conditions,facilitating the synthesis of BNNTs at temperatures as low as 850℃.In addition,molecular dynamics simulations based on density functional theory theoretically demonstrate that the systems maintain a liquid state at low temperatures and interact with N atoms to form BN *** findings offer novel insights into the design of boron activation and are expected to facilitate research on the low-temperature synthesis of BNNTs.

Molecular mobility in thermotropic polyesters and side-chain polymers with different struc-ture of mesogens and spacers has been studied by dielectrical method in dilutesolutions. The results made it possible to establish the multiplicity of dielectric relaxationtransitions which reflects the small- and large-scale types of molecular motion. It was shownthat dielectric relaxation processes occurring in accordance with local mechanism (relaxationtimes 10^(-9)--10^(-7)s. and the activation energy 10--50kJ/mol) are due to the mobility of kineticchain elements of different length within a monomer units. It was found that the dielectricrelaxation process connected with a large-scale form of molecular motion (relaxation times10^(-5)--10^(-6)s. and the activation energy 100kJ/mol) did not depend on the molecular massbut was infiuenced by factors changing the conformational state of the macromolecule. It isestablished tha the cooperative reorientation mobility of associated mesogenic fragments isthe source of the large-scale process.

Solar powered vehicles are currently being developed towards entirely self-sustaining vehicles that harness their energy directly from the *** such vehicles,it is important to optimise their solar exposure while driving,thereby reducing their energy consumption through fossil *** has emerged to estimate optimised routes for solar vehicles,and this paper builds on this work to expand on the parameters used to calculate the route,thereby improving the energy-harnessing quality of the route together with its overall utility for the *** ArcGIS tool and the open weather ApI are used to predict the solar potential of a vehicle by taking into account shade based on surrounding topography,vehicle type,weather,distance and time of *** model was implemented as a user mobile application‘Drive Solar’that calculates the optimal route for the user based on their preferences for time and energy *** effectiveness of the prediction model was tested using a solar irradiance sensor in Dublin *** results show that the model predicts the route with the most energy absorbed with a 51.65%accuracy and chooses the route with the most energy consumed with a 86.65%*** conclude that Drive Solar can aid in the transition to widespread use of self-sustaining solar vehicles.

The mealybug Oracella acuta, native to the southeastern US, was accidentally introduced into slash pine plantations in Guangdong province in China in 1988. A classical biological control program was initiated in 1995, and the parasitoids Allotropa oracellae, Acerophaus coccois, and Zarhopalus debarri were imported from the US. A total of 19 972 parasitized mealybugs were shipped to China from 1996-2004, from which 15 430 wasps emerged, 12 933 of which were the three target species. efforts to establish a mass-rearing program for the parasitoids in China failed. Five field release sites were established, and 6 020 parasitoids were released. Only 118 individuals of the three imported species were collected during establishment checks, although several wasps were collected 1-2 years after the last parasitoid release. Over 2 000 Anagyrus dactylopii, a cosmopolitan parasitoid, emerged from the parasitized mealybugs collected, a majority from the Taishan area near the site of the original introduction ofO. acuta. To date the imported parasitoids have failed to establish, and natural enemies have not noticeably reduced mealybug populations.

Background: previous research in both calves and other species has suggested n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids(pUFA) and β-glucans may have positive effects on immune function. This experiment measured performance,behaviour, metabolite and immunological responses to pre-weaning supplementation of dairy bull calves with n-3 pUFA in the form of fish oil and β-glucans derived from seaweed extract. 44 Holstein Friesian bull calves, aged 13.7± 2.5 d and weighing 48.0 ± 5.8 kg were artificially reared using an electronic feeding system. each calf was offered5 l(120 g/l) per day of milk replacer(MR) and assigned to one of four treatments included in the MR,(1) Control(CON);(2) 40 g n-3 pUFA per day(FO);(3) 1 g β-glucans per day(Gl) and(4) 40 g n-3 pUFA per day & 1 g/d β-glucans(FOGl) in a 2 × 2 factorial design. Milk replacer and concentrate was offered from d 0–62(pre-weaning),while concentrate provision continued for a further 31 d post-weaning period. Individual daily feed intake and feeding behaviour was recorded throughout, while bodyweight and blood analyte data were collected at regular ***: Overall mean concentrate DMI from d 0–93 was 1.39, 1.27, 1.00 and 0.72 kg/d for CON, FO, Gl and FOGl calves, respectively(SeM = 0.037;p lves supplemented with Gl were significantly lighter(p eaning(d 62) and turnout to pasture(d 93) than un-supplemented calves, with a similar effect(p evident for calves receiving FO compared to un-supplemented contemporaries. Supplementation with Gl reduced the number of unrewarded visits where milk was not consumed(p le supplementation with FO increased mean drinking speed(p pplementation with Gl resulted in greater concentrations of haptoglobin(p = 0.034), greater serum osmolality(p = 0.021) and lower lymphocyte levels(p = 0.027). experimental data from the pep-II B-factory at 10.6 GeV center-of-mass （c.m.） energy, obtained via initial-state radiation （ISR） with the BABAR detector, are presented. The cross sections for many hadronic processes have been measured from the production threshold to 4-5 GeV of the e^＋e^- c.m. energy. The obtained data allow to study a number of intermediate states and determine the parameters of known resonances and their branching fractions. The exclusive cross section for some number of hadronic sub-processes are presented.

Though soil erosion is an important concern in Sri lanka, there is a dearth of baseline information on soil erosion in many ofits watersheds, which obstructs monitoring of soil erosion and mitigating its effects. In order to assess soil erosion in a critical watershed and to identify its determinants, the Samanalawewa watershed, which contains one of the main hydropower generating reservoirs in Sri lanka, was selected for this study. Remote-sensing (RS) and geographic information system (GIS) based modeling as well as field experiments were employed to assess and map soil erosion rates. Results indicated that the current rate of soil erosion ranges from 0 to 289 t/ha/yr, and that the average rate of soil erosion has been declining from 20 to 4 t/ha/yr over a period from 1986 to 2008. The current rate of soil erosion is, however, still about 14 to 33 times greater than the natural soil generation rate. Socioeconomic factors and peoples’ perception of soil erosion and soil conservation measures were examined using data collected through a household survey. Multiple regression analysis with eighteen covariates of socioeconomic characteristics yielded eleven socioeconomic variables, viz. household size, farm labor, education, land tenure, conservation cost, training, committee membership, professional competencies, income, distance, and financial capital as the predictor variables of soil erosion. Farmers identified improper soil and crop management practices as the major causes of erosion. The adoption of conservation measures, their effectiveness, and their impact on ecosystem services were also examined.

It has been recently shown that inhomogeneity of a semiconductor heterostructure leads to increasing of sharpness of diffusion-junction and implanted-junction rectifiers,which are formed in the semiconductor *** has been also shown that together with increasing of the sharpness,homogeneity of impurity distribution in doped area *** both effect could be increased by formation of an inhomogeneous distribution of temperature(for example,by laser annealing).Some conditions on correlation between inhomogeneities of the semiconductor heterostructure and temperature distribution have been *** time has been optimized for pulse laser annealing.

INTRODUCTION Is“the new modernism”in domestic architecture—sometimes called“internationalism”—a useful step on the road toward sustainable buildings?Mindless recreations of traditional forms from other times and places are no better,as many writers have noted,but any building’s natural and cultural context must play a fundamental role in the design,materials selection,and even the detailing,if sustainability is to be more readily *** role of place-based planning has been well researched and reported(clarke 2006;Mant 1998,2000;NSW Department of Urban Affairs and planning 2001).less well understood is the role of“localness”in building *** informs the overall form of buildings,and their detailing,as well as their technical functionality.A local understanding stems from a sense of materials,climate,and indigenous or local culture,and informs the design process at every *** this article,the position of internationalist domestic architecture(espoused in glossy architecture publications)is criticised,drawing also on previous research(a case study of the outcomes of a place-based planning instrument,by the author,and a joint paper on locality-based design written jointly with Trevor King).The internationalist design approach is shown not to provide culturally appropriate or technically sustainable buildings.
