The demand of fresh water is becoming an increasingly important issue across the world. To alleviate this problem, a single slope single basin solar still was designed and tested. Top glass cover 9° slop. ensures a very good transmission of solar radiation inside the still.p.n> In this paper a review of factors that improve the performance of the still is presented. Energy balances are made for each element of the still;solar time, direction of beam of radiation, clear sky radiation, optical properties of the cover, convection outside the still, convection and evaporation inside are accounted. Theoretical analysis of the heat and mass transfer mechanisms inside the solar still has been developed to find out heat transfer coefficients such as internal and external heat transfer modes and thermo physical properties such as dynamic viscosity, density, thermal conductivity, latent heat of evaporation and saturated vapor pressure for passive solar distillation system. Heat transfer coefficients were estimated for the present system since the still efficiency depends on heat transfer modes. It is also suggested that the water temperature plays a vital role in the distillate output since it increases significantly with the rise of basin water temperature. Modal Frequency p.ediction of Chladni p.tterns Using Machine Learning

The introduction of machine learning (ML) in the research domain is a new era technique. The machine learning algorithm is develop.d for frequency p.edication of p.tterns that are formed on the Chladni p.ate and focused on the ap.lication of machine learning algorithms in image p.ocessing. In the Chladni p.ate, nodes and antinodes are demonstrated at various excited frequencies. Sand on the p.ate creates sp.cific p.tterns when it is excited by vibrations from a mechanical oscillator. In the exp.rimental setup. a rectangular aluminum p.ate of 16 cm x 16 cm and 0.61 mm thickness was p.aced over the mechanical oscillator, which was driven by a sine wave signal generator. 14 Chladni p.tterns are obtained on a Chladni p.ate and validation is done with modal analysis in Ansys. For machine learning, a large number of data sets are required, as cap.ured around 200 p.otos of each modal frequency and around 3000 p.otos with a camera of all 14 Chladni p.tterns for sup.rvised learning. The current model is written in p.thon language and model has one convolution layer. The main modules used in this are Tensor Flow Keras, Nump., CV2 and Maxp.oling. The fed reference data is taken for 14 frequencies between 330 Hz to 3910 Hz. In the model, all the images are converted to grayscale and canny edge detected. All p.tterns of frequencies have an almost 80% - 99% correlation with test samp.e exp.rimental data. This ap.roach is to form a directory of Chladni p.tterns for future reference p.rp.se in real-life ap.lication. A machine learning algorithm can p.edict the resonant frequency based on the p.tterns formed on the Chladni p.ate.

Background The imp.ct of changing land-use p.tterns and associated anthrop.genic threats on scale-dep.ndent habitat use of semi-aquatic mustelids in scent-marking and social behaviour can p.ovide imp.rtant insights into the habitat ecology of smooth-coated otters(Lutrogale p.rsp.cillata).Methods We samp.ed 180 stream segments(100–400 m) as sp.tial rep.icates of 60 1-km2 sites to record indirect evidence(i.e. sp.aints and mass latrine sites) and group.sizes of smooth-coated otters along the Tungabhadra Otter Conservation Reserve(TOCR) during the dry season. To quantify habitat, we recorded stream characteristics, rip.rian vegetation, and anthrop.genic disturbances at the local scale, and hydro-environmental characteristics and land uses at the landscap. scale. Using Markovian-chain detection and occup.ncy models, we assessed the multi-scale habitat use of otters in their selection of suitable areas for scent-marking based on rep.ated p.esence-absence data on sp.aint/latrine locations along the TOCR. We further used linear regression techniques to exp.ore relationship. between the number of individuals in smooth-coated otter group.and hydro-environmental characteristics, sp.aint/latrine encounter rate, anthrop.genic p.essure, land cover, top.grap.y, and *** At the local scale, the p.obability of sp.aint dep.sition and group.size decreased with anthrop.genic disturbance while the p.obability of sp.aint detections decreased with grass cover. At the landscap. scale, the p.obability of otter site use for sp.aint dep.sition and group.sizes increased in southeast flowing streams. Sp.aint dep.sition increased with the p.op.rtion of sugarcane fields, whereas in contrast, group.size decreased with p.op.rtion of sugarcane *** Our findings highlight the first emp.rical evidence on multi-scale habitat use of a southern Indian p.p.lation of smooth-coated otters in an inland freshwater ecosystem surrounded by the scrub jungle–agriculture matrix.
