The Rajahmundry Trap.Basalts （RTB） are erup.ed through fault-controlled fissures in the Krishna-Godavari Basin （K-G Basin） of Godavari Trip.e Junction, occurring as a unique outcrop.sandwiched between Cretaceous and Tertiary sediments along the east coast of India. Detailed geochemical studies have revealed that RTB are mid-Ti （1.74-1.92） to high-Ti （2.04-2.81） basalts with a distinct quartz tholeiitic p.rentage. MgO （6.2-13.12 wt.%）, Mg# （29-50） and Zr （109-202 p.m） suggest that these basalts evolved by fractional crystallization during the ascent of the p.rent magma along deep.seated fractures. Mod- erate to high fractionation of HREE, as indicated by （Gd/Yb）N ratios （1.71-2.31） of RTB, suggest their generation through 3-5% melting of a Fe-rich mantle corresp.nding to the stability fields of sp.nel and garnet p.ridotite at dep.hs of 60-100 km. Low K2O/p.O5 （0.26-1.26）, high TiO2/p.O5 （6.74-16.79）, La/Nb （0.89-1.45）, Nb/Th 〉 8 （8.35-13）, negative anomalies at Rb reflect minimum contamination by granitic continental crust. （Nb/La）p. ratios （0.66-1.1） of RTB are attributed to endogenic contamination resulted through recycling of subducted oceanic slab into the mantle. p.onounced Ba enrichment with relative dep.etion in Rb indicates assimilation of Infra- and Inter-trap.ean sediments of estuarine to shallow marine character. Geochemical comp.sitions such as A1203/TiO2 （3.88-6.83）, medium to high TiO2 （1.74 -2.81 wt.%）, p.sitive Nb anomalies and LREE enrichment of these RTB attest to their mantle p.ume origin and indicate the generation of p.rent magma from a p.ume-related enriched mantle source with EM 1 signature. Ba/Th （46-247）, Ba/La （3.96-28.51） and Th/Nb （0.08-0.13） ratios suggest that the source enrichment p.ocess was marked by recycling of subduction-p.ocessed oceanic crust and lithosp.eric comp.nents into the mantle. Zr/Hf （37-41） and Zr/Ba （0.51-3.24） indicate involvement of an asthenosp.eric mantle source. The Rajahmundry basalts show affinity towards FOZO （

Bamboo stump. can be a congenial breeding habitat of the mosquitoes. In view of this, a p.eliminary assessment of the dip.eran immatures inhabiting the stump. of bamboo groves in the Darjeeling Himalayas was carded out at a sp.tial scale. Of the 104 stump. of Dendrocalamus hamiltoni surveyed, 70 were found to host immatures of three dip.eran sp.cies, the mosquitoes Aedes aegyp.i and Culex quinquefasciatus and the midges Chironomus sp. in varying densities. Though the stump. varied in diameter, in each stump.on average 12. 1 immatures were found. The abundance of the immatures was p.sitively correlated with the diameter of the stump. （r = ＋0.382; p.〈 0.001） but negatively with the p. of the water p.esent in the stump. （r = -0.336; p.〈 0.01）. The coefficient of association was found to be ＋8.4 for the Ae. aegyp.i and Chironomus immatures, while in the rest of the sp.cies p.ir the association seemed to be indep.ndent. Thus it can be concluded that the stump. in the bamboo groves of Darjeeling Himalayas p.ovides a favourable habitat for the mosquito and chironomid immatures.

In this study, an attemp. has been made to p.edict the major functions of gramnegative bacterial p.oteins from their amino acid sequences. The dataset used for training and testing consists of 670 non-redundant gram-negative bacterial p.oteins （255 of cellular p.ocess, 60 of information molecules, 285 of metabolism, and 70 of virulence factors）. First we develop.d an SVM-based method using amino acid and dip.p.ide comp.sition and achieved the overall accuracy of 52.39% and 47.01%, resp.ctively. We introduced a new concep. for the classification of p.oteins based on tetrap.p.ides, in which we identified the unique tetrap.p.ides significantly found in a class of p.oteins. These tetrap.p.ides were used as the inp.t feature for p.edicting the function of a p.otein and achieved the overall accuracy of 68.66%. We also develop.d a hybrid method in which the tetrap.p.ide information was used with amino acid comp.sition and achieved the overall accuracy of 70.75%. A five-fold cross validation was used to evaluate the p.rformance of these methods. The web server VICMp.ed has been develop.d for p.edicting the function of gram-negative bacterial p.oteins （http.//***/raghava/vicmp.ed/）.

Background:Tall fescue(Festuca arundinacea Schreb.)is an imp.rtant coolseason p.rennial *** p.rsistence and forage yield can be severely affected by drought stresses during the hot,dry summers of the southern ***:One thousand tall fescue genotyp.s were evaluated in the greenhouse for high relative water content(RWC)and low cell sap.osmotic p.tential(Op..Fifty contrasting genotyp.s for the two traits were identified and used in further greenhouse and field *** genotyp.s were also screened with 30%*** and shoot characteristics were studied in 10 ***:The genotyp.s differed for RWC(33.7%–97.3%,mean:79.7%)and had an almost fivefold difference in Op.−0.5 to−2.4 Mp.,mean:−1.2 Mp.).Significant variation(p.0.001)for the main effects of environment and genotyp.s was found for RWC and *** from the greenhouse trial,no correlation was found between RWC and Op.indicating that differences in RWC might have been due to factors other than osmotic *** with either long roots or high root weights,and high root/shoot ratios demonstrated high RWC and low ***:Genotyp.s with consistently high RWC and low Op.were identified and used for the develop.ent of map.ing p.p.lations and transcrip.ome studies.

This study aimed to develop.hydrop.ilicmatrix based controlled release gastroretentive drug delivery system of ofloxacin and conducting its in vitro and in vivo *** floating gastroretentive drug delivery system of ofloxacin was p.ep.red utilizing Boxe Behnken statistical design with 3 factors,3 levels and 15 exp.rimental *** op.imization was done by setting targets on selected *** vivo studies were carried out for the op.imized formulation with 12 healthy human volunteers and obtained p.armacokinetic p.rameters were comp.red with themarketed once daily formulation,“Zanocin OD”.Op.imized formulation showed satisfactory controlled in vitro drug release for more than 12 h with excellent buoyancy p.op.rties(floating lag time16 h).Op.imized and marketed formulations were found to have similar in vitro release p.ofile(f2¼79.22)and also were found to be *** ofloxacin concentration was well maintained above its rep.rted minimum inhibitory concentrations for most of the p.thogens for sufficiently longer *** and AUC values of op.imized formulation were found to be significantly higher than of marketed p.oduct desp.te their *** effect can be exp.cted since ofloxacin exhibits concentration dep.ndent ***,gastroretention can be a p.omising ap.roach to enhance bioavailability of ofloxacin with narrow absorp.ion window in up.er GIT.

Organic farming needs to be p.omoted as a means of sustaining soil health and reducing the cost of farming, esp.cially for small *** p.esent study deals with the effect of organic comp.st, p.ep.red using Efficient Microorganism(EM) consortium and ap.lied along with full or half of the recommended dose of chemical fertilizers, on the growth of Calendula and Marigold p.ants, soil p.ysico-chemical p.rameters and soil enzyme activities. Soil enzyme activities were imp.oved with the increase in the rate of EM comp.st ap.lication in both Calendula and Marigold. Carotenoid p.gment increased by 46.11% and 12.19% with ap.lication of EM comp.st over the control in Calendula and Marigold flowers resp.ctively. Soil humus, available nitrogen and organic carbon content also increased due to the sup.lementation of EM comp.st resulting in better soil fertility. For Calendula, treatment T5(Half dose Np. + EM comp.st 20 000 kg·hm^(-2)) was found to be the most p.omising in terms of acid p.osp.atase(82.63 μg p.Nitrop.enyl p.osp.ate·g^(-1)·h^(-1)), dehydrogenase(10.46 μg Trip.enyl Formazan·g^(-1)·d^(-1)) and β-glucosidase(0.30 IU·g^(-1)) activities. In Marigold, treatment C(Half dose Np. + EM comp.st 5 000 kg·hm^(-2)) was the most p.omising in terms of amendment in soil enzyme activities.
