The w.vefront recording p.ane （w.p., subsequently generalized to be know. as the virtual diffraction p.ane （VDp., is a recent concep. that has been successfully dep.oyed in fast generation and p.ocessing of digital hologram.. In brief, the w.p.and its extension, the VDp. is a hyp.thetical p.ane that is located betw.en the hologram.and the object scene, and w.ich is at close p.oxim.ty to the latter. As such, the fringe p.tterns on the hyp.thetical p.ane are carrying the holistic inform.tion of the hologram. as w.ll as the local op.ical p.op.rties of the object scene. This im.1}rtant p.op.rty enables a hologram.to be p.ocessed w.th classical im.ge p.ocessing techniques that are norm.lly unsuitable for handling holograp.ic inform.tion. In this p.p.r w. shall review.a num.er of w.rks, that have been develop.d based on the fram.w.rk of the w.p.and the VDp.

This p.p.r describes a m.thod for converting a com.0}ex Fresnel hologram.into a p.ase-only hologram.that can be em.edded w.th large am.unt of data. Briefly, each row.of p.xels in the hologram.is scanned sequentially in a left-to-right direction. The m.gnitude of each visited p.xel is set to a constant, and its p.ase is em.edded w.th the data. Subsequently, the error is diffused to the neighborhood p.xels. The p.ase hologram.realized w.th such m.ans, w.ich is referred to as the data-em.edded-error-diffusion （DEED） hologram. is cap.ble of p.eserving high fidelity on the content of the hologram.and the em.edded data.

Sub-lines are one-dim.nsional diffraction p.tterns rep.esenting the light beam. em.rging from.horizontal p.anes of an object im.ge. p.st research has dem.nstrated that the sub-lines can be encap.ulated as a m.lti-bank filtering p.ocess, and im.0}em.nted w.th a field p.ogram.able gate array （Fp.A） device. As the com.0}exity of the filters is high, their length and the num.er of inp.t p.ns have to be reduced substantially, hence leading to degradation on the reconstructed im.ges. w. p.op.se an enhanced m.thod to overcom. the p.oblem.by binarizing the filters＇ coefficients, and half-toning the p.xel intensities of the object im.ge. Exp.rim.ntal evaluation reveals that our m.thod results in reconstructed im.ges are sup.rior to that obtained w.th the p.rent m.thod.

Noise addition is a sim.0}e but effective m.thod for generating a p.ase-only hologram.（p.H） of an object. Briefly, the intensity im.ge of an object is added w.th random.p.ase noise and converted into a digital Fresnel hologram. Subsequently, the p.ase com.0}nent of the hologram.is retained as the p.H. Although the m.thod is fast and the visual quality of the reconstructed im.ge is accep.able, the edges and lines p.tterns are heavily fragm.nted. In this Letter, w. p.op.se a m.thod to overcom. this p.oblem. An exp.rim.ntal evaluation based on num.rical and op.ical reconstructions reveals that a hologram.generated by our p.op.sed m.thod is cap.ble of p.eserving line p.tterns w.th favorable quality.

p.st research has dem.nstrated that a p.ase-only hologram.can be obtained by dow.-sam.0}ing the intensity im.ge of the object scene p.ior to the generation of the hologram. In this Letter, w. extend the m.thod to the generation of binary p.ase-only hologram.. A hologram.derived w.th our p.op.sed m.thod is referred to as a binary-sam.0}ed p.ase-only hologram.（BSp.H）. Being different from.the p.rent schem., w. have adop.ed an off- axis configuration in the generation of the BSp.H to avoid the quantization noise, the zeroth-order light, and the conjugate lights. An exp.rim.ntal evaluation reveals that the reconstructed im.ge of the BSp.H is of good quality, and only contains slight am.unt of noise.

p.st research has dem.nstrated that a sam.0}ed p.ase-only hologram.(Sp.H) is cap.ble of rep.esenting an im.ge w.thout the m.gnitude com.0}nent of the hologram. At p.esent, an Sp.H can only record and reconstruct a single source im.ge. In this Letter, w. p.op.se, for the first tim., to the best of our know.edge, a m.thod for rep.esenting m.ltip.e im.ges w.th a single integrated Sp.H (ISp.H). Subsequently, each im.ge can be retrieved from.the ISp.H w.th a unique key p.ram.ter and disp.ayed as a visible im.ge on a p.ase-only sp.tial light m.dulator.

Coal-fired p.w.r p.ants are a m.jor carbon source in China. In order to assess the evaluation of China’s carbon reduction p.ogress w.th the p.om.se m.de on the p.ris Agreem.nt, it is crucial to m.nitor the carbon flux intensity from.coal-fired p.w.r p.ants. p.evious studies have calculated CO2 em.ssions from.p.int sources based on Orbiting Carbon Observatory-2 and -3 (OCO-2 and OCO-3) satellite m.asurem.nts, but the factors affecting CO2 flux estim.tions are uncertain. In this study, w. em.0}oy a Gaussian p.um. m.del to estim.te CO2 em.ssions from.three p.w.r p.ants in China based on OCO-3 XCO2 m.asurem.nts. m.reover, flux uncertainties resulting from.w.nd inform.tion, background values, satellite CO2 m.asurem.nts, and atm.sp.eric stability are discussed. This study highlights the CO2 flux uncertainty derived from.the satellite m.asurem.nts. Finally, satellite-based CO2 em.ssion estim.tes are com.0}red to bottom.up.inventories. The satellite-based CO2 em.ssion estim.tes at the Tuoketuo and Nongliushi p.w.r p.ants are ∼30 and ∼10 kt d−1 sm.ller than the Op.n-Data Inventory for Anthrop.genic Carbon dioxide (ODIAC) resp.ctively, but ∼10 kt d−1 larger than the ODIAC at Baotou. © Institute of Atm.sp.eric p.ysics/Chinese Academ. of Sciences, and Science p.ess 2024.

This study investigated the m.chanical p.op.rties of beech (Fagus sylvatica L.) and fir (Abies alba) w.od from.Bosnia and Herzegovina under outdoor exp.sure. Sam.0}es w.re exp.sed for 3-m.nth exp.sure to assess bending strength, color changes, and surface quality. Results show.d outdoor exp.sure negatively affected m.chanical p.op.rties, p.rticularly in sam.0}es w.th extended finger joints, causing significant surface cracks in uncoated sam.p.es. Beech w.od exhibited notable color changes under exp.sure, w.th ap.roxim.tely 50% darkening w.thout coating com.0}red to 25% under covered conditions. Coated sam.0}es disp.ayed m.nim.l color changes, affirm.ng the efficacy of surface treatm.nt. Fir w.od exhibited a roughness of 8.264 μm. w.ile beechw.od average roughness increased from.6.767 to 13.916 μm.after exp.sure, w.th m.cro-p.re develop.ent affecting w.ter p.rfor-m.nce. m.croscop.c analysis identified p.evalent fungal colonies, including p.nicillium. Aureobasidium. Sclerop.om., and Chaetom.um. underscoring their role in organic m.tter decom.0}sition. This study highlights the im.0}rtance of w.od exp.sure and treatm.nt selection for various ap.lications. © 2024 The Authors.

Ferroelectric HfO2 has attracted m.ch attention ow.ng to its sup.rior ferroelectricity at an ultra-thin thickness and good com.1}tibility w.th Si-based com.1}em.ntary m.tal-oxide-sem.conductor (Cm.S) technology. How.ver, the crystallization of p.lar orthorhom.ic p.ase (o-p.ase) HfO2 is less com.1}titive, w.ich greatly lim.ts the ferroelectricity of the as-obtained ferroelectric HfO2 thin film.. Fortunately, the crystallization of o-p.ase HfO2 can be therm.dynam.cally m.dulated via interfacial stress engineering. In this p.p.r, the grow.h of im.1}oved ferroelectric Al dop.d HfO2 (HfO2:Al) thin film. on (111)-oriented Si substrate has been rep.rted. Structural analysis has suggested that nonp.lar m.noclinic HfO2:Al grow. on (111)-oriented Si substrate suffered from.a strong com.1}essive strain, w.ich p.om.ted the crystallization of (111)-oriented o-p.ase HfO2 in the as-grow. HfO2:Al thin film.. In addition, the in-p.ane lattice of (111)-oriented Si substrate m.tches w.ll w.th that of (111)-oriented o-p.ase HfO2, w.ich further therm.lly stabilizes the o-p.ase HfO2. Accordingly, an im.1}oved ferroelectricity w.th a rem.ant p.larization (2p.r)) of 26.7 m. C/cm.2) has been obtained.
