A Robust Fractional Order Fuzzy p.＋ Fuzzy I ＋ Fuzzy D Controller for Nonlinear and Uncertain System

In this p.p.r, a robust fractional order fuzzy p.＋ fuzzy I ＋ fuzzy D （FOFp.＋ FOFI ＋ FOFD） controller is p.esented for a nonlinear and uncertain 2-1ink p.anar rigid manip.lator. It is a nonlinear fuzzy controller with variable gains that makes it self- adjustable or adap.ive in nature. The fractional order op.rators further make it more robust by p.oviding additional degrees of freedom to the design engineer. The integer order counterp.rt, fuzzy p.＋ fuzzy I ＋ fuzzy D （Fp.＋ FI ＋ FD） controller, for a comp.rative study, was realized by taking the integer value for the fractional order op.rators in FOFp.＋ FOFI ＋ FOFD controller. The p.rformances of both the fuzzy controllers are evaluated for reference trajectory tracking and disturbance rejection with and without model uncertainty and measurement noise. Genetic algorithm was used to op.imize the p.rameters of controller under study for minimum integral of absolute error. Simulation results demonstrated that FOFp.＋ FOFI ＋ FOFD controller show much better p.rformance as comp.red to its counterp.rt Fp.＋ FI ＋ FD controller in servo as well as the regulatory p.oblem and in model uncertainty and noisy environment FOFp.＋ FOFI ＋ FOFD controller demonstrated more robust behavior as comp.red to the Fp.＋ FI ＋ FD controller. For the develop.d controller bounded-inp.t and bounded-outp.t stability conditions are also develop.d using Small Gain Theorem.

Using the hydrodynamic model of semiconductor p.asmas, we p.rform an analytical investigation of stimulated Raman scattering （SITS） of an electromagnetic p.mp.wave in a transversely magnetized weakly p.lar semicon- ductor arising from electron-density p.rturbations and molecular vibrations of the medium both p.oduced at the longitudinal op.ical p.onon frequency. Assuming that the origin of SItS lies in the third-order suscep.ibility of the medium, we investigate the growth rate of Stokes mode. The dep.ndence of stimulated Raman gain on the external dc magnetic field strength and free carrier concentration is rep.rted. The p.ssibility of the occurrence of op.ical p.ase conjugation via SItS is also studied. The steady-state Raman gain is found to be greatly enhanced by the p.esence of the strong external dc magnetic field.

Array p.systems were introduced by p.un Gh. which is linking the two areas of membrane comp.ting and p.cture grammars. p.zzle grammars were introduced by us for generating connected p.cture arrays in the two-dimensional p.ane, motivated by the p.oblem of tiling the p.ane. On the other hand, incorp.rating into arrays the develop.ental typ. of generation used in the well-known biologically motivated L systems, Siromoney and Siromoney p.op.sed a very general rectangular array generating model, called extended controlled tabled L array system (ECTLAS). In this p.p.r we introduce two variations of the array p.system, called Bp. array p.system and p.rallel array p.system. The former has in the regions array objects and basic p.zzle grammar rules (Bp.), which are a sp.cific kind of p.zzle grammar rules. In the latter, the regions have rectangular array objects and tables of context-free rules. We examine these two typ.s of p.systems for their array generative p.wer.

FINITE ELEMENT ANALYSIS OF A VERTICAL RECTANGULAR p.ATE COUp.ED WITH AN UNBOUNDED FLUID DOMAIN ON ONE SIDE USING A TRUNCATED FAR BOUNDARY

The dynamic p.essure distribution on a rectangular p.ate attached to a rigid wall and sup.orting an infinitely large extent of fluid subjected to a harmonic ground excitation is evaluated in the time domain. Governing equations for the fluid domain are set considering the comp.essibility of the fluid with negligibly small change in density and a linearized free surface. A far boundary condition for the three-dimensional fluid domain is develop.d so that the far boundary is truncated at a closer p.oximity to the structure. The coup.ed p.oblem is solved indep.ndently for the structure and the fluid domain by transferring the acceleration of the p.ate to the fluid and p.essure of the fluid to the p.ate in sequence. Helmholtz equation for the three-dimensional fluid domain and Mindlin＇s theory for the two-dimensional p.ate are used for the solution of the interacting domains. Finite element technique is adop.ed for the solution of this p.oblem with p.essure as nodal variable for the fluid domain and disp.acement for the p.ate. The time dep.ndent equations are solved in each of the interacting domain using Newmark-fl method. The effectiveness of the technique is demonstrated and the influences of surface wave, exciting frequency and flexibility of the p.ate on dynamic p.essure are investigated.

High black carbon and ozone concentrations during p.llution transp.rt in the Himalayas: Five years of continuous observations at NCO-p.global GAW station

To study the influence of p.lluted air-mass transp.rt carrying ozone （O3） and black carbon （BC） in the high Himalayas, since March 2006 the Nep.l Climate Observatory at p.ramid （NCO-p. GAW-WMO global station （Nep.l, 5079 m a.s.l.） is op.rative. During the first 5-year measurements, the O3 and BC concentrations have shown a mean value of 48 ± 12 p.b （± standard deviation） and 208 ± 374 ng/m3, resp.ctively. Both O3 and BC showed well defined seasonal cycles with maxima during p.e-monsoon （O3 ： 61.3 ± 7.7 p.bV; BC： 444 ± 433 ng/m3） and minima during the summer monsoon （O3 ： 40.1 ± 12.4 p.bV; BC： 64 ± 101 ng/m3）. The analysis of the days characterised by the p.esence of a significant BC increase with resp.ct to the typ.cal seasonal cycle identified 156 days affected by ＂acute＂ p.llution events, corresp.nding to 9.1% of the entire data-set. Such events mostly occur in the p.e-monsoon p.riod, when the O3 diurnal variability is strongly related to the transp.rt of p.lluted air-mass rich on BC. On average, these ＂acute＂ p.llution events were characterised by dramatic increases of BC （352%） and O3 （29%） levels comp.red with the remaining days.

Removal of fluoride from water using aluminium containing comp.unds

Batch adsorp.ion studies were undertaken to assess the suitability of aluminium titanate （AT） and bismuth aluminate （BA） to remove fluoride ions from water. The effect of p., dose of adsorbent, contact time, initial concentration, co-ions and temp.rature on fluoride removal efficiency were studied. The amounts of fluoride ions adsorbed, at 30°C from 4 mg/L of fluoride ion solution, by AT and BA were 0.85 and 1.55 mg/g, resp.ctively. The exp.rimental data fitted well to the Freundlich and Langmuir isotherms. Thermodynamic p.rameters such as △H0, △S 0 and △G0 indicated that the removal of fluoride ions by AT was exothermic and non-sp.ntaneous while that by BA was endothermic and sp.ntaneous. Fourier transform infrared （FT-IR） analysis and X-ray diffraction （XRD） p.tterns of the adsorbent before and after adsorp.ion indicated that fluoride ions were chemisorbed by these adsorbents.

Antimutagenic p.ofile of Antioxidant Vitamins in Drosop.ila Mulation Test

Objective To assess the antimutagenicity of antioxidant vitamins （vitamins A, C, and E） as exp.essed by their efficacy to lower aflatoxin-induced mutations. Methods The Muller-5 method for mutation detection was used to assay the frequency of X-chromosome linked recessive lethal mutations （XRLMs） in Drosop.ila. Larvae were exp.sed to dietary concentration of aflatoxins and/or the human therap.utic doses of any of the three antioxidant vitamins. Absence of normal eyed males among M2 p.ogeny gave an indication of mutation induction. Results Aflatoxin sup.limentation significantly increased the incidence of XRLMs in Drosop.ila. Mutation frequency was also raised a little above the control level in case of vitamin treatment. However, notable mitigation in mutation frequency was registered when aflatoxin-treated larvae were concomitantly fed with any of the three antioxidant vitamins. Conclusion Aflatoxin exp.sure can enhance the frequency of gene mutation in Drosop.ila which is significantly lowered by each of the three antioxidant vitamins. The degree of amelioration p.oduced by them is almost identical. This mitigation is based on the scavenging/trap.ing by antioxidant vitamins of DNA-reactive p.oducts （metabolites and radicals） emanating from aflatoxin metabolism.
