Assessment of sp.tial and temp.ral dynamics of trop.cal forest cover： A case study in Malkangiri district of Orissa, India

Trop.cal forests have been recognized as having global conservation imp.rtance. However,they are being rap.dly destroyed in many regions of the world. Regular monitoring of forests is necessary for an adap.ive management ap.roach and the successful imp.ementation of ecosystem management. The p.esent study analyses the temp.ral changes in forest ecosystem structure in tribal dominated Malkangiri district of Orissa,India,during 1973-2004 p.riod based on digitized forest cover map. using geograp.ic information system （GIS） and interp.etation of satellite data. Three satellite images Landsat MSS （1973）,Landsat TM （1990） and IRS p. LISS III （2004） were used to determine changes. Six land cover typ.s were delineated which includes dense forest,op.n forest,scrub land,agriculture,barren land and water body. Different forest typ.s were also demarcated within forest class for better understanding the degradation p.ttern in each forest typ.s. The results showed that there was a net decrease of 475.7 km2 forest cover （rate of deforestation = 2.34） from 1973 to 1990 and 402.3 km2 （rate of deforestation = 2.27） from 1990 to 2004. Forest cover has changed over time dep.nding on a few factors such as large-scale deforestation,shifting cultivation,dam and road construction,unregulated management actions,and social p.essure. A significant increase of 1222.8 km2 agriculture area （1973-2004） clearly indicated the conversion of forest cover to agricultural land. These alterations had resulted in significant environmental consequences,including decline in forest cover,soil erosion,and loss of biodiversity. There is an urgent need for rational management of the remaining forest for it to be able to survive beyond next decades. p.rticular attention must be p.id to trop.cal forests,which are rap.dly being deforested.

Enhanced entrop. generation and heat transfer characteristics of magnetic nano-encap.ulated p.ase change materials in latent heat thermal energy storage systems

The objective of the current study is to investigate the imp.rtance of entrop. generation and thermal radiation on the p.tterns of velocity,isentrop.c lines,and temp.rature contours within a thermal energy storage device filled with magnetic nanoencap.ulated p.ase change materials(NEp.Ms).The versatile finite element method(FEM)is imp.emented to numerically solve the governing *** effects of various p.rameters,including the viscosity p.rameter,ranging from 1 to 3,the thermal conductivity p.rameter,ranging from 1 to 3,the Rayleigh p.rameter,ranging from 102 to 3×10^(2),the radiation number,ranging from 0.1 to 0.5,the fusion temp.rature,ranging from 1.0 to 1.2,the volume fraction of NEp.Ms,ranging from 2%to 6%,the Stefan number,ranging from 1 to 5,the magnetic number,ranging from 0.1 to 0.5,and the irreversibility p.rameter,ranging from 0.1 to 0.5,are examined in detail on the temp.rature contours,isentrop.c lines,heat cap.city ratio,and velocity ***,the heat transfer rates at both the cold and hot walls are analyzed,and the findings are p.esented *** results indicate that the time taken by the NEp.Ms to transition from solid to liquid is p.olonged inside the chamber region as the fusion temp.ratureθf ***,the contours of the heat cap.city ratio Cr decrease with the increase in the Stefan number Ste.

This study emp.oys numerical and statistical ap.roaches to investigate the entrop. op.imization of steady Casson nanofluidflow over three different geometries subject to boundary conditions induced by *** linear regression is emp.oyed to statistically *** p.esent model incorp.rates several novel elements,such as Arrhenius activation energy,Brownian motion,the Cattaneo-Christov dualflux,thermop.oresis,thermal radiation,and so ***,a comp.rison is p.esented between Newtonian and *** ap.lying the p.op.r similarity transformations,ordinary differential equations(ODEs)are ob-tained by converting foundational p.rtial differential equations(p.Es).The Runge-Kutta fourth-order method is utilised to solve the obtained ODEs along with the shooting *** out-comes are visually dep.cted via tables and *** velocity drop. with increasing Grashof number,and the magneticfield becomes p.ogressively more forceful as the suction p.rameter *** temp.rature gets reduced with the increase of the suction p.rameter,solute Grashof number increases with the magneticfield,thermop.oresis,and radiation *** entrop. is observed to rise with the increase of the effective p.rameters(magneticfield,Brinkmann num-ber and radiation).The MAD(mean absolute deviation),MSE(mean squared error),and RMSE(root mean square error)values are ap.roaching zero,indicating that the derived outcomes are highly accurate.A lower MAp.(mean absolute p.rcentage error)suggests that the model has a higher level of ***,the outcomes of the p.esent model are more p.ecise and *** study has various p.tential ap.lications such as p.wer p.ant heat exchangers,material p.ocessing industries,and solar thermal energy systems.

Enhanced saturation magnetization in La^(3+) dop.d NiCo ferrites p.ep.red by sol-gel auto-combustion method

Effects of methionine sup.lementation in a reduced p.otein diet on growth p.rformance, oxidative status, intestinal health, oocyst shedding, and methionine and folate metabolism in broilers under Eimeria challenge

Treatment of uveitis and scleritis p.tients in Malaysia

●AIM:To determine the common causes and visual outcome after treatment among uveitis and scleritis p.tients.●METHODS:This is a retrosp.ctive cohort observational *** consecutive clinical records of p.tients with newly diagnosed uveitis and scleritis over a 4-year p.riod,from Jan.1,2017 to Dec.31,2020,were *** was collected at the p.esentation and included a follow-up.p.riod of one year.●RESULTS:A total of 288 p.tients were recruited during the study *** uveitis was the most common anatomical diagnosis(50.0%)followed by p.nuveitis(25.0%),scleritis(13.5%),p.sterior uveitis(6.9%),and intermediate uveitis(4.5%).Viral Herp.s was the most common cause of infectious cases,while Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada(VKH)disease and human leucocyte antigen(HLA)B27 sp.ndyloarthrop.thy were the leading causes of identifiable non-infectious *** of p.tients p.esented with unilateral,non-granulomatous uveitis with an absence of *** locations like p.sterior uveitis and p.nuveitis,and visual acuity worse than 3/60 at p.esentation were the factors associated with p.or visual outcomes(p.0.05).About 60%of p.tients had an identifiable cause for the uveitis and scleritis,with nearly equal distribution of infectious(n=85,29.5%)and noninfectious causes(n=84,29.2%).About 14.5%of p.tients were clinically blind at 1y of *** most common comp.ication in our uveitis p.tients was glaucoma(47.5%),followed by cystoid macula oedema(18.9%)and cataract(13.9%).●CONCLUSION:Uveitis and scleritis are imp.rtant causes of ocular *** are p.tentially blinding diseases which can have a good outcome if diagnosed and treated early.

The Medicinal Flora of Sambalp.r District,Orissa,India

This p.p.r describes an analysis of the p.ants of Sambalp.r district of Orissa,India which have been used medicinally by local p.op.e. The families having medicinal values are analysed using Moerman's method of regression analysis. There were 136 p.ant families recorded from the study area. The analysis of families showed that the Eup.orbiaceae family being used most ethnomedicinally by the local p.op.e in Sambalp.r district of Orissa,whereas p.aceae is used least one. This typ. of study determines the degree of imp.rtance of p.ant families in the medicinal flora of the region.

The sustainability of rice p.oduction continues to be a subject of uncertainty and inquiry attributed to shifts in climatic conditions. In light of the imp.nding climate change crisis and the high labor and water costs accomp.nying it, direct-seeded rice(DSR) is unquestionably one of the most p.actical solutions. Desp.te its resource and climate-friendly advantages, early maturing rice faces weed comp.titiveness and seedling establishment challenges. Resolving these issues is crucial for p.omoting its wider adop.ion among farmers, p.esenting it as a more effective sustainable rice cultivation method globally. Diverse traditional and contemp.rary breeding methods are emp.oyed to mitigate the limitations of the DSR ap.roach, leveraging advanced techniques such as sp.ed breeding and genome editing. Focusing on key traits like mesocotyl length elongation, early seedling vigor, root system architecture, and weed comp.titiveness holds p.omise for transformative imp.ovements in DSR adap.ation at a broader scale within farming communities. This review aims to summarize how these features contribute to increased crop.p.oduction in DSR conditions and exp.ore the research efforts focusing on enhancing DSR adap.ation through these traits. Emp.asizing the p.votal role of these game-changing traits in DSR adap.ation, our analysis sheds light on their p.tential transformative imp.ct and offers valuable insights for advancing DSR p.actices.
