h.man fallop.an tubes (FTs) p.ay imp.rtant roles in th. wh.le rep.oductive p.ocess. FTs are th. site for th. final maturation of gametes, fertilization, transp.rt of p.eimp.antation embryos, and early embryonic develop.ent before entering th. uterus. All th.se functions are critical in th. establish.ent of a successful p.egnancy. Wh.n th. embryo is in transit th.ough.th. FT, th. FT microenvironment ch.nges th.ough.endocrine, p.racrine, autocrine, and juxtacrine mech.nisms wh.ch.involve various h.rmones and bioactive substances mainly from th. neigh.oring cells. Th.refore, th. interactions between th. embryo and th. FT may be th. earliest embryo-maternal communications th.t are essential for th. establish.ent of p.egnancy. Th.s review critically discusses th. evidence of various h.rmonal and bioactive mediated control of th. microenvironment in th. FTs during th. earliest embryo-maternal communications. Moreover, we h.gh.igh. existing gap. in th. knowledge and th. imp.rtance of exp.oring more of th. p.ysiology of FTs wh.ch.will h.ld th. key to p.oducing h.gh.quality embryos for p.tients seekingin vitro fertilization (IVF) treatments.

Objective: Th. aim of th. work described h.re was to evaluate th. role of contrast-enh.nced ultrasound (CEUS) in resp.nse evaluation for unresectable advanced h.p.tocellular carcinoma (h.C) treated with.tyrosine kinase inh.bitors (TKIs) p.us anti-p.ogrammed cell death.p.otein-1 (p.-1) antibody th.rap.. Meth.ds: A p.osp.ctive coh.rt of consecutive p.tients with.h.C wh. received combined TKI/anti-p.-1 antibody treatment for unresectable h.C between January 2022 and October 2022 was included in th.s study. Th. p.tients underwent unenh.nced ultrasound (US) and CEUS examinations before treatment and at follow-up. Ch.nges in th. largest diameters of th. target tumor on unenh.nced US and th. largest diameters of th. enh.ncing target tumors on CEUS were evaluated. Resp.nse Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors (RECIST) version 1.1 with.unenh.nced US and magnetic resonance imaging/comp.ted tomograp.y (MRI/CT) and modified RECIST (mRECIST) with.CEUS and CEMRI/CT were used to assess treatment resp.nse. Results: A total of 24 h.C p.tients (23 men and 1 woman; mean age: 56.5 ± 8.5 y; barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer stage C, 62.5%; 29 intrah.p.tic target tumors) were studied. Calculations of degree of necrosis in th. target tumors revealed no significant differences between CEUS and CEMRI/CT (44.5 ± 36.2% vs. 45.3 ± 36.8%, p.= 0.862). As for th. differentiation of resp.nders from non-resp.nders, th. agreement between RECIST version 1.1 of unenh.nced US and mRECIST-CEUS was p.or (κ coefficient = 0.233). Meanwh.le, th.re was a h.gh.degree of concordance between mRECIST-CEUS and mRECIST-CEMRI/CT (κ coefficient = 0.812). Conclusion: CEUS p.oved to be sup.rior to baseline US and is comp.rable to CEMRI/CT in defining treatment outcome for combined TKI/anti-p.-1 antibody th.rap.. © 2023 World Federation for Ultrasound in Medicine & biology

Th. marine losses during th. p.rmo-Triassic mass extinction were th. worst ever exp.rienced. All group. were badly affected, esp.cially amongst th. benth.s(e.g. brach.op.ds, corals, bryozoans, foraminifers,ostracods). p.anktonic p.p.lations underwent a fundamental ch.nge with.eukaryotic algae being rep.aced by nitrogen-fixing bacteria, green-sulp.ur bacteria, sulp.ate-reducing bacteria and p.asinop.ytes. Detailed studies of boundary sections, esp.cially th.se in South.Ch.na, h.ve resolved th. crisis to a ～55 kyr interval straddling th. p.rmo-Triassic boundary. Many of th. losses occur at th. beginning and end of th.s interval p.inting a p.cture of a two-p.ase extinction. Imp.oved knowledge of th. extinction h.s been sup.orted by numerous geoch.mical studies th.t allow diverse p.op.sed extinction mech.nisms to be studied. A transition from oxygenated to anoxic-euxinic conditions is seen in most sections globally, alth.ugh.th. intensity and timing sh.ws regional variability. Decreased ocean ventilation coincides with.rap.dly rising temp.ratures and many extinction scenarios attribute th. losses to both.anoxia and h.gh.*** kill mech.nisms include ocean acidification for wh.ch.th.re is conflicting sup.ort from geoch.mical p.oxies and, even less likely, siltation(burial under a massive influx of terrigenous sediment) wh.ch.lacks substantive sedimentological evidence. Th. ultimate driver of th. catastrop.ic ch.nges at th. end of th. p.rmian was likely Siberian Trap.erup.ions and th.ir associated carbon dioxide emissions with.consequences such.as warming, ocean stagnation and acidification. Volcanic winter ep.sodes stemming from Siberian volcanism h.ve also been linked to th. crisis, but th. sh.rt-term nature of th.se ep.sodes(h. overwh.lming evidence for rap.d warming during th. crisis makes th.s an unlikely cause. Finally, wh.lst th. extinction is well studied in equatorial latitudes, a different h.story is found in north.rn boreal latitudes

In th. urban atmosp.ere of bengaluru, various volatile organic comp.unds(VOCs), p.rticularly benzene,Toluene, Eth.lbenzene, and Xylene(bTEX), h.ve sh.wn an increasing trend in concentration. Th. p.esent research.was conducted during summer and monsoon seasons, focusing on Kadubeesanah.lli, a h.gh.traffic area with.n th. bengaluru Metrop.litan City. h.urly samp.e data was collected using a bTEX analyzer(Model GC955-600) and subsequently transformed into daily, month.y, and seasonal values. Th. study revealed distinct p.tterns in benzene concentrations. benzene levels were lowest during th. early morning h.urs, sp.cifically from 1:00 *** 7:00 a.m.. Concentrations th.n increased from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and again from 4:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.,corresp.nding to th. morning and evening p.ak traffic h.urs. h.wever, between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., th. concentration decreased due to reduced traffic levels. Th.se diurnal variations in benzene concentration are influenced by meteorological p.rameters. Comp.ring th. two seasons, h.gh.r concentrations of benzene, Eth.lbenzene, and Mp.xylene were observed during th. summer season. Th.s increase is attributed to th. elevated temp.ratures during summer, wh.ch.p.omote th. vap.rization of bTEX comp.unds. Conversely, lower bTEX concentrations were recorded during th. monsoon season due to th. wet dep.sition p.ocess. Th. observed p.sitive correlation(r > 0.5) among bTEX p.rameters strongly suggests a common source, most likely originating from veh.cular emissions.
