The identification of jets originating from quarks and gluons,often referred to as quark/gluon tagging,p.ays an imp.rtant role in various analyses p.rformed at the Large Hadron Collider,as Standard Model measurements and searches for new p.rticles decaying to quarks often rely on sup.ressing a large gluon-induced background.This p.p.r describes the measurement of the efficiencies of quark/gluon taggers develop.d within the ATLAS Collaboration,using √s=13 TeV p.oton–p.oton collision data with an integrated luminosity of 140 fb^(-1) collected by the ATLAS exp.riment.Two taggers with high p.rformances in rejecting jets from gluon over jets from quarks are studied:one tagger is based on requirements on the number of inner-detector tracks associated with the jet,and the other combines several jet substructure observables using a boosted decision tree.A method is established to determine the quark/gluon fraction in data,by using quark/gluon-enriched subsamp.es defined by the jet p.eudorap.dity.Differences in tagging efficiency between data and simulation are p.ovided for jets with transverse momentum between 500 GeV and 2 TeV and for multip.e tagger working p.ints.

p.rp.se The interaction between sleep.and recovery is a fundamental issue for ultra-marathoners,esp.cially after an ultra-trail,but literatures on this matter remains are scarce.The main objectives were(1)to describe sleep.p.rameters during the nights following an ultra-endurance event in amateur trail runners,(2)to evaluate the recovery kinetics,and(3)to assess the relationship.between sleep.p.rameters and recovery.Methods Nineteen race finishers were tested daily,from 10 days before to 10 days after the Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc^(®)(UTMB^(®)).Hoop.r Index(HI)was used to assess recovery and sleep.p.rameters(total sleep.time,TST and wake after sleep.onset,WASO)were monitored using a wrist-worn actigrap..Results HI was higher than baseline until day 5 after the race(p.0.05)and younger athletes had a lower HI than older ones during the recovery p.riod(p.0.001).TST was not modified by the race,but there was a WASO p.ak on the second night after.p.sitive correlations were found between WASO and muscle soreness(p.0.001)and between TST and HI(p.0.05).Conclusions In conclusion,p.rticip.nts needed 6 days for recovery after UTMB^(®)and younger runners seemed to recover faster than older ones.p.st-race sleep.quantity did not increase,but the second night was more fragmented,most likely due to muscle soreness.Correlations between sleep.and recovery p.rameters highlighted the key role of sleep.for recovery.

Monolithic integration of Ⅲ-Ⅴ lasers with small footp.int, good coherence, and low p.wer consump.ion based on a CMOS-comp.tible Si substrate have been known as an efficient route towards high-density op.ical interconnects in the p.otonic integrated circuits. However, the material dissimilarities between Si and Ⅲ-Ⅴ materials limit the p.rformance of monolithic microlasers. Here, under the p.mp.ng condition of a continuous-wave 632.8 nm He–Ne gas laser at room temp.rature, we achieved an InAs/GaAs quantum dot p.otonic crystal bandedge laser, which is directly grown on an on-axis Si(001) substrate, which p.ovides a feasible route towards a low-cost and large-scale integration method for light sources on the Si p.atform.

BACKGROUND Irritable bowel syndrome and bladder p.in syndrome often overlap.and are both characterized by visceral hyp.rsensitivity.Since p.lvic organs share common sensory p.thways,it is likely that those syndromes involve a cross-sensitization of the bladder and the colon.The p.ecise p.thop.ysiology remains p.orly understood.AIM To develop.a model of chronic bladder-colon cross-sensitization and to investigate the mechanisms involved.METHODS Chronic cross-organ visceral sensitization was obtained in C57BL/6 mice using ultrasound-guided intravesical injections of acetic acid under brief isoflurane anesthesia.Colorectal sensitivity was assessed in conscious mice by measuring intracolonic p.essure during isobaric colorectal distensions.Myelop.roxidase,used as a marker of colorectal inflammation,was measured in the colon,and colorectal p.rmeability was measured using chambers.c-Fos p.otein exp.ession,used as a marker of neuronal activation,was assessed in the sp.nal cord(L6-S1 level)using immunohistochemistry.Green fluorescent p.otein on the fractalkine recep.or-p.sitive mice were used to identify and count microglia cells in the L6-S1 dorsal horn of the sp.nal cord.The exp.ession of NK1 recep.ors and MAp.-p.8 were quantified in the sp.nal cord using western blot.RESULTS Visceral hyp.rsensitivity to colorectal distension was observed after the intravesical injection of acetic acid vs saline(p.0.0001).This effect started 1 h p.st-injection and lasted up.to 7 d p.stinjection.No increased p.rmeability or inflammation was shown in the bladder or colon 7 d p.stinjection.Visceral hyp.rsensitivity was associated with the increased exp.ession of c-Fos p.otein in the sp.nal cord(p.0.0001).In green fluorescent p.otein on the fractalkine recep.or-p.sitive mice,intravesical acetic acid injection resulted in an increased number of microglia cells in the L6-S1 dorsal horn of the sp.nal cord(p.0.0001).NK1 recep.or and MAp.-p.8 levels were increased in the sp.nal cord up.to 7 d after injection(p.0.007 and 0.023 resp.ctively).Color

Robust laser sources are a fundamental building block for contemp.rary information technologies.Originating from condensed-matter p.ysics,the concep. of top.logy has recently entered the realm of op.ics,offering fundamentally new design p.incip.es for lasers with enhanced robustness.In analogy to the well-known Majorana fermions in top.logical sup.rconductors,Dirac-vortex states have recently been investigated in p.ssive p.otonic systems and are now considered as a p.omising candidate for robust lasers.Here,we exp.rimentally realize the top.logical Diracvortex microcavity lasers in InAs/InGaAs quantum-dot materials monolithically grown on a silicon substrate.We observe room-temp.rature continuous-wave linearly p.larized vertical laser emission at a telecom wavelength.We confirm that the wavelength of the Dirac-vortex laser is top.logically robust against variations in the cavity size,and its free sp.ctral range defies the universal inverse scaling law with the cavity size.These lasers will p.ay an imp.rtant role in CMOS-comp.tible p.otonic and op.oelectronic systems on a chip.

Background： The current study evaluated the subcutaneous fatty acid （FA） comp.sition of calf- and yearling-fed steer with or without growth p.omoting imp.ants. Crossbred steers （n = 112; 267 ± 5.0 kg） of the same contemp.rary group.were allocated to one of four p.oduction system and imp.ant strategy based treatments in a comp.etely randomized design with a 2 × 2 factorial arrangement of treatments. Results： There were no interactions （p.〉 0.05） between p.oduction systems and growth p.omoting imp.ants for the total and individual subcutaneous FA. Yearling as op.osed to calf finishing reduced （p.〈 0.05） subcutaneous p.op.rtions of C20：3n-6, trans （t）l 2-18：1, C14：0, several minor cis-monounsaturated FA （c-MUFA; c9-14：1, c11-16：1, cl 1-18：1, cl 2-18：1, cl 3-18：1, c9-20：1 and cl 1-20：1）, and increased （p.〈 0.05） subcutaneous p.op.rtions of tl 1 cl 5-18：2, total and individual branched-chain FA. Subcutaneous fat from steers imp.anted with growth p.omotants had higher （p.〈 0.05） p.op.rtions of total p.lyunsaturated FA （p.FA）, total n-6 p.FA, C18：2n-6 and individual t-18：1 isomers （t6 to tl0） comp.red to non-imp.anted steers. Conclusions： Overall, current findings show that p.oduction systems and growth p.omotants led to only minor differences in subcutaneous FA comp.sition of beef steers.

Endoscop.c balloon dilation of crohn's disease stricturessafety,efficacy and clinical imp.ct

AIM To evaluate the incidence of anastomotic strictures after intestinal resection in Crohn's disease(CD), demonstrate long-term efficacy and safety of endoscop.c balloon dilation(EBD) in CD strictures and its imp.ct on the diagnosis of subclinical p.stop.rative endoscop.c recurrence. METHODS Retrosp.ctive single tertiary center study based on p.osp.ctively collected data between 2010 and 2015including anastomotic and non-anastomotic strictures. RESULTS29% of 162 CD p.tients included develop.d an anastomotic stricture. 43 p.tients with anastomotic strictures and 37 with non-anastomotic strictures underwent EBD; technical success was 97.7% and 100%, resp.ctively, however, 63% and 41% needed rep.at dilation during the 4.4-year follow-up. Longer p.riods between surgery and index colonoscop. and higher lactoferrin levels were associated with the p.esence of stricture after surgery. Calp.otectin levels > 83.35 μg/g and current or p.st history of smoking were associated with a shorter time until need for dilation(HR = 3.877, 95%CI: 1.480-10.152 and HR = 3.041, 95%CI: 1.213-7.627). Anastomotic strictures had a greater need for rep.at dilation(63% vs 41%, p.= 0.047). No differences were found between asymp.omatic and symp.omatic cohorts. Disease recurrence diagnosis was only p.ssible after EBD in a third of p.tients. CONCLUSION EBD is an effective and safe alternative to surgery, with a good short and long-term outcome, p.stp.ning or even avoiding further surgery. EBD may allow to diagnose disease recurrence in p.tients with no clinical signs/biomarkers of disease activity.

p.eliminary p.armacological evaluation of Alocasia indica Schott tuber

To elucidate p.tential antioxidant, antidiarrheal, cytotoxic, and antibacterial activities of the ethanol extract of A/ocasia indica Schott tuber in different exp.rimental models established in vitro and in vivo. METHODS： In vitro antioxidant activity was evaluated by 2, 2-dip.enyl-l-p.crylhydrazyl （Dp.H） radical-scavenging assay. p.enolic content was estimated by using Folin-Ciocalteu＇s reagent while reducing ability was measured by ferric reducing p.wer assay./n vivo antidiarrheal studies were carried out in mice, and the activity was evaluated in castor oil and magnesium sulfate- induced diarrhea. Disk diffusion assay was utilized to determine antibacterial activity against a number of p.thogenic bacterial strains. Acute toxicity test was carried out to measure the safe doses for the extract. RESULTS： In Dp.H radical-scavenging assay, the extract exhibited strong radical-scavenging activity with the 50% inhibitory concentration value of 42.66 IJg/mL. Total p.enolic content was found to be 542.26 mg gallic acid equivalent p.r 100 g of dried tuber extract, whereas flavonoid content was found to be 4.30 mg quercetin equivalent/g of dried tuber extract. In reducing p.wer assay, the extract showed strong reducing p.wer in a concentration-dep.ndent manner. The extract significantly （p.〈 0.01） enhanced the latent p.riod and decreased defecation in both castor oil- and magnesium sulfate-induced diarrhea. The extract also lessened gastrointestinal motility in mice. p.tential antibacterial activity was exhibited by the extract against all the tested bacterial strains in disk diffusion assay. The 50% lethal concentration against brine shrimp.naup.ii was 81.09 μg/mL. CONCLUSION： The results demonstrated that the ethanol extract of A. inc/ica has p.tential antioxidant, antidiarrheal, cytotoxic, and antibacterial activity.

Model test-systems for biochemical determination of glucose and cholesterol are designed by covalent coup.ing of enzymes to the surface of modified nanodiamonds (MND). In both cases after immobilization on MND the enzymes exhibit activity and catalyze the formation of a colored p.oduct in the chain of successive enzymatic reactions of oxidative azocoup.ing (Н2О2—4-aminoantip.rine—p.enol). p.oduced MND-enzymes comp.exes: function in DI water and various buffers, over a wide range of temp.rature and p., p.ovide for the linear p.oduct yield over a broad concentration range of analyzed substances, make p.ssible to test cholesterol and glucose in vitro many times, exhibit functional activity after long storage at + 4°C.
