Zero-order and twin images are a serious obstacle in achieving a high-quality output in in-line digital holography （DH）. They decrease the useful bandwidth of the off-axis DH. Over the years the twin image removal problem was approached both by instrumental and numerical means. The paper provides an extended survey of the proposed solutions with their pros and cons as a guide for further advance in this field. processing of a single spatial carrier fringe pattern involves spatial filtering in the frequency domain, spatial phase-shifting （pS） or wavelet transform. A point source digital holographic microscopy （DHM）, introduction of calibration measurements or various modifications of pS technique are instrumental solutions to the twin image problem for in-line DH. Numerical solutions to the same problem include iterative and non-iterative approaches, diffraction-based and inverse problem solutions, reconstruction of purely real or phase objects and of complex objects, reconstruction of plane and volume objects. Elimination only of the zero-order image relies on non-linear filtering or additional calibration measurements.

Manufacturing robotics is moving towards human-robot collaboration with light duty robots being used side by side with workers. Similarly, exoskeletons that are both passive(spring and counterbalance forces) and active(motor forces) are worn by humans and used to move body parts. Exoskeletons are also called ‘wearable robots' when they are actively controlled using a computer and integrated sensing. Safety standards now allow, through risk assessment, both manufacturing and wearable robots to be used. However, performance standards for both systems are still lacking. Ongoing research to develop standard test methods to assess the performance of manufacturing robots and emergency response robots can inspire similar test methods for exoskeletons. This paper describes recent research on performance standards for manufacturing robots as well as search and rescue robots. It also discusses how the performance of wearable robots could benefit from using the same test methods.

Transverse magnetoresistance peculiarities of thermoelectric Lu-doped Bi_2Te_3 compound due to strong electrical disorder

The n-type thermoelectric Bi_(1.9)Lu_(0.1)Te_3 was prepared by microwave-solvothermal method and spark plasma sintering. The magnetic field and temperature dependences of transverse magneto resistance measured within temperature 2-200 K interval allow finding the peculiarities characteristic for strongly disordered and inhomogeneous semiconductors. The first peculiarity is due to appearance of linear-inmagnetic field contribution to the total magneto resistance reflected in a crossover from quadratic magnetoresistance at low magnetic fields to linear magneto resistance at high magnetic fields. The linear magnetoresistance can result from the Hall resistance picked up from macroscopically distorted current paths due to local variations in stoichiometry of the compound studied. The second peculiarity is that both linear magnetoresistance magnitude and crossover field are functions of carrier mobility which is in agreement with the parish and Littlewood model developed for disordered and inhomogeneous semiconductors. An increase in the mobility due to a decrease in temperature is accompanied by an increase in the magnetoresistance magnitude and a decrease in the crossover field. Finally, the third peculiarity is related to the remarkable deviation of the total magnetoresistance measured at various temperatures from the Kohler's rule. presence of strong inhomogeneity and disorder in the Bi_(1.9)Lu_(0.1)Te_3 structure concluded from the magnetoresistance peculiarities can be responsible for the remarkable reduction in the total thermal conductivity of this compound.

Crohn's disease(CD) represents a chronic transmural inflammatory condition of the gastrointestinal tract, which usually leads to structural damage and signific-ant disability. Deep remission--defined by both clinical and endoscopic remission, signifying mucosal healing-represents the current endpoint in the treat--to--target strategy, significantly improving patients' long--term outcomes. Transmural healing(TH) could be a more effe-ctive target, but this possibility remains unclear. This narrative review aims to critically review and summarize the available literature relating TH to long--term outcomes, being the first of its kind and to the best of the author's knowledge. A systematic literature search(from incep-tion to March 31 2018) was performed, using multiple databases, and identifying seven full--text manuscripts. In those studies, long--term favorable outcomes(≥ 52 wk) included sustained clinical remission, as well as fewer therapeutic changes, CD--related hospitalizations, and surgeries. Despite heterogeneous design and me-thodological limitations, six of the studies demonstrated that TH or intestinal healing(TH plus mucosal healing) were predictive for the aforementioned favorable out-comes. Therefore, TH may become a reasonable the-rapeutic target and be included in the concept of deep remission. Further prospective, well-designed, multicenter trials aiming to better define the role of TH in personalized therapy for CD and to determine the long-term influence of TH on bowel damage and disability are warranted.

Background:Medication error can occur throughout the drug treatment process,with special relevance in children given the risk of adverse effects resulting from a medication error is more prevalent than in *** significance of medication error in children is also greater because small error that would be tolerated in adults can cause significant damage in ***,the likelihood of injury is higher than in *** sources:Based on the data published,most medication errors take place in prescribing and administration stages in both *** in account that child's risk factors are different from those of adults,with some specific causes to pediatrics,we have reviewed available data about new technologies as a strategy to reduce pediatric medication ***:Even though there is a lack of standardized definitions and terminology that makes studies difficult to compare,we checked that new technologies have proven to be effectives in reducing medication errors,mainly computerized physician order entry(CpOE)and platforms to aid ***,we also observed that the use of these informatic tools can also generate new ***:Implementation of CpOE programs for pediatrics,communication improvement between healthcare professionals taking care of admitted children and the knowledge of these programs should be the mayor priorities for the safety of hospitalized children.

Detonation-based engines offer a potential surge in efficiency for compact thermal power systems. However, these cycles require ad-hoc components adapted to the high outlet velocity from the detonation combustors. This paper presents the design methodology of turbine stages suitable for supersonic inlet conditions and provides a detailed analysis of optimized turbine geometries. A reduced-order solver examines the supersonic blade rows’ functional design space, quantifies the turbine’s non-isentropic performance, and budgets the turbine loss for different optimized leading-edge designs and chord to pitch ratios. The shock-wave interactions were identified as the predominant contributor to turbine losses, and optimal pitch-chord ratios were determined for various inlet Mach numbers. Finally, with this tool, the specific-power output for a wide range of design configurations was computed;and the metal angle that ensures flow starting and maximizes power extraction was calculated. The detailed numerical study describes the flow interactions in a supersonic turbine and offers new correlations to guide the design of future supersonic turbines.

The lymphatic system consists of a network of lymph capillaries and vessels deputed to drain the interstitial fluid(containing floating macromolecules,such as nutrients,cellular debris and tissue-infiltrating pathogens)and to transport tissue-patrolling lymphocytes and dendritic cells(DCs)to draining lymph nodes(drLNs).1 Knowledge of the mechanisms associated with cellular transmigration into the lymphatic system could offer the opportunity to manipulate the immune response in a wide range of diseases,such as autoimmune diseases and cancer.2,3 In this research highlight,we discuss a recent study that sheds light on our understanding of the molecules involved in DCs docking to lymphatic endothelial cells,a critical step prior to their subsequent endothelial transmigration into lymphatic *** docking occurs through the interaction between hyaluronan(hyaluronic acid,HA)molecules on the plasma membrane and lymphatic-vessel endothelial protein(LYVE-1).

Surgical meshes have been employed in the management of a variety of pathological conditions including hernia,pelvic floor dysfunctions,periodontal guided bone regeneration,wound healing and more recently for breast plastic surgery after *** common pathologies affect a wide portion of the worldwide population;therefore,an effective and enhanced treatment is crucial to ameliorate patients’living conditions both from medical and aesthetic points of *** present,non-absorbable synthetic polymers are the most widely used class of biomaterials for the manufacturing of mesh implants for hernia,pelvic floor dysfunctions and guided bone regeneration,with polypropylene and poly tetrafluoroethylene being the most *** prostheses,such as surgical grafts,have been employed mainly for breast plastic surgery and wound healing *** the advantages of mesh implants to the treatment of these conditions,there are still many drawbacks,mainly related to the arising of a huge number of post-operative complications,among which infections are the most *** a mesh that could appropriately integrate with the native tissue,promote its healing and constructive remodelling,is the key aim of ongoing research in the area of surgical mesh *** this end,the adoption of new biomaterials including absorbable and natural polymers,the use of drugs and advanced manufacturing technologies,such as 3D printing and electrospinning,are under investigation to address the previously mentioned challenges and improve the outcomes of future clinical *** aim of this work is to review the key advantages and disadvantages related to the use of surgical meshes,the main issues characterizing each clinical procedure and the future directions in terms of both novel manufacturing technologies and latest regulatory considerations.
