Evaluation of anti-inflammatory property of the leaves of Sansevieria liberica *** labr.(fam:dracaenaceae)

Objective:To evaluate the anti-inflammatory property of leaves of Sansevieria liberica Ger. and *** to ascertain the toxicity and phytochemical profiles of the extract of the leaves. Methods:The juice from the fresh leaves was expressed manually and *** crude extract（CE） was then fractionated into n-hexane fraction（HF）,chloroform fraction（CF）, ethylacetate fraction（EF） and methanol fraction（MF）.The crude extract（CF） and the fractions were screened for anti-inflammatory activity using egg albumen-induced paw（systemic） edema in rats as a measure of acute *** toxicity test and phytochemical screening were done using standard ***:The CE and the fractions significantly（PCE>MF>CF>EF,with the CE and HF at 400 mg/kg exhibiting inhibition comparable to that obtained with 5 mg/kg diclofenac sodium. Acute toxicity test on CE established an oral and intraperitoneal LD50 of > 5 000 mg/kg in mice. Phytochemical screening of the CE and the fractions showed the presence of various bioactive substances such as alkaloids,saponins,flavonoids,terpenoids,steroids,glycosides,reducing sugars,tannins,resins,carbohydrates,proteins,acidic compounds,fats and ***: The results of the study showed that the leaves of Sansevieria liberica Ger and *** antiinflammatory effects which may be due to its bioactive *** purification on these bioactive constituents may result in the development of potent anti-inflammatory agent with low toxicity and better therapeutic index.

This paper investigates the impact of biohazards and pandemics on construction workers’ health and well-being. A proper selection of control methods for biohazards and pandemics like COVID-19 pandemic will result in improved public health conditions. Occupational risks in the construction industry are also examined, with a focus on biohazards and pandemics, their containment, and the implications for health and safety. A safer work environment in the construction industry is encouraged. In this study, some statistical methods were used to analyse the data obtained from sampled questionnaire. According to the findings, fewer people in poor developing countries get routine check-ups compared to developed countries. The construction industries studied have little or no insurance plans for staff. It also demonstrates that personal protective equipment (PPE) such as nasal masks, helmets, hand gloves, and work aprons can assist in the control of biohazards in the construction sector, such as asthma, cancer, and asbestosis. There should be safety awareness programmes, conferences, and seminars, as well as first-aid kits and HSE and qualified health workers on all building sites. How has the informality of urban slums exposed a gap in policy formulation and research questions in the wake of the coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)pandemic?This paper seeks to identify the appropriate questions and policy frame that would assist future researchers and policymakers on the subject of pandemics in densely populated urban *** authors argue that the nexus between asking the appropriate questions and developing appropriate policy response measures during a pandemic can significantly impact the outcome of the *** paper examines how the government of Kenya's response to the COVID-19 pandemic reveals a deep-rooted socio-economic and cultural inequality when"blanket"policies are adopted without taking into consideration the tnique dynamics characterizing the *** findings show that the effectiveness of implementing COVID-19 containment policies such as lockdowns,the cession of movement,working from home,distance learning,and social distancing are affected by other factors such as the nature of jobs,one's income levels,where someone lives,cultural beliefs,access to water,sanitation,intemet,and medical *** means that a significant number of people within the society experience a double tragedy from the pandemic and impact of government response *** most of the existing literature has focused on the causes,spread,and impact of the pandemic on health institutions,economies,and public health with little emphasis on the impact on policy measures especially on the vulnerable segments of the *** paper,therefore,looks at the question of how the various public health intervention strategies disrupt or construct the livelihood of the already complex informal *** provides policymakers and researchers with a number of questions that can frame policy and research during a pandemic with important consideration to urban informality.

Background:This research focuses on herbal medicine,an ancient healthcare practice,exploring the antibacterial attributes of fresh and dried leaf extracts from Momordica charantia(commonly known as Bitter melon)and Vernonia amygdalina(Bitter leaf).The study specifically investigates their effects on different bacterial strains associated with ***:Four enteric bacterial isolates-Klebsiella pneumoniae,Salmonella typhi,Escherichia coli,and Proteus mirabilis-were obtained from the Medical Laboratory Unit at Babcock University Teaching Hospital in Ilishan-Remo,Ogun *** screening and antibacterial testing were conducted using standard biochemical techniques and the Punch-hole agar diffusion method,***:Qualitative phytochemical screening of the plant extracts revealed the presence of flavonoids,glycosides,and saponin in both plants,excluding *** were identified only in Vernonia *** these phytochemicals,neither plant displayed inhibitory effects on the tested bacterial isolates(Escherichia coli,Proteus mirabilis,Klebsiella pneumoniae,and Salmonella typhi)when tested individually or in ***,combining the fresh and dried leaf extracts of Momordica charantia and Vernonia amygdalina with a standard drug resulted in smaller mean zone diameters of inhibition(Escherichia coli range:14 mm–16 mm,Proteus mirabilis range:31 mm–35 mm,Klebsiella pneumoniae range:13 mm–22 mm,and Salmonella typhi range:35 mm–38 mm)compared to the drug tested alone(16 mm–45 mm).Conclusion:Despite previous indications of antibacterial properties in various extracts of *** and *** leaves,our study presents contradictory results,prompting the need for further investigation despite the presence of significant phytochemicals.

Discovery of effect of force adaptation in mechanics is presented. The discovery is based on use of the mobile closed mechanical contour for force transfer from the mechanism input link to an output link, According to discovery the motion transfer can be carried out by Assur structural group in the form of the mobile closed contour, and the output link is the link with one degree of freedom. The received mechanical system includes an input link, an output link and the closed contour placed between them as fourth class Assur structural group. The kinematic chain has two degrees of freedom. However the closed contour imposes an additional constraint on relative motion of its links. The carried out discovery allows providing the variable transfer ratio only due to the variable external load. Mechanical properties of the closed contour allow providing the required transfer ratio independently, smart and automatically.

Photon absorption parameters such as mass attenuation coefficients(μ_m),molar extinction coefficients(ε),total molecular(σ_(t,m)),atomic(σ_(t,a))and electronic(σ_(t,el))cross sections,half-value layers(X_(1/2)),tenth-value layers(X_(1/10)),mean free paths(λ),effective atomic numbers(Z_(eff)),and effective electron densities(N_(el))were estimated for defatted soy flour(DSF),soy protein concentrate(SPC),and soy protein isolate(SPI)-based Rhizophora *** composites substituted with 10 wt%sodium hydroxide(NaOH)and 0,5,10,and 15 wt%itaconic acid polyamidoamine-epichlorohydrin(IA-PAE)*** composition was assessed using ultrahigh-resolution field emission scanning electron microscopy-energy dispersive X-ray spectrometry(UHR-FESEM-EDX).The interaction parameters were evaluated for K_(α1)photons at16.59,17.46,21.21,and 25.26 keV,employing a low-energy germanium(LEGe)detector system and an~(241)Amγ-ray source.X-ray diffraction characterization revealed an amorphous phase in the developed particleboard *** DSF15',SPC15',and SPI15'exhibited the highest values ofμ_m,ε,σ_(t,m),Zeff,and N_(el)among all of the studied particleboard samples,within the range of measured photon *** addition,all of the modified samples exhibited lower X_(1/2),X_(1/10),λ,σ_(t,a),andσ_(t,el)than the unmodified samples,with DSF-,SPC-,and SPI/NaOH/Rhizophora spp./IA-PAE(15 wt%),indicating insignificant *** current results of the particleboard samples'analysis can be useful for medical radiation applications and shielding research.

Aims the Cape Peninsula is a small area(471 km2)situated on the south-westernmost tip of the Core Cape Subregion(CCR)of South *** the Cape Peninsula,Fabaceae are the third most species-rich plant family(162 species)and they have the second highest number of endemic species after the ***,legumes are not the dominant taxa in the *** tend to show patchy distributions within the landscape and different species assemblages usually occupy particular niches at any given *** present study undertook to establish if edaphic factors influence legume species distribution in the Cape Peninsula and to determine the key indicator species for the different *** Soils from 27 legume sites,spanning all major geological substrates of the Cape Peninsula,were analysed for 31 chemical and physi-cal *** species present at each site were recorded and a presence/absence matrix was *** analysis and discriminant function analysis(DFA)were run to group the sites based on overall similarity in edaphic characteristics and to identify the soil parameters contributing towards discriminating the *** correspondence analysis(CCA)was used to test for a cor-relation between legume species compositions and edaphic *** strength of the association between legume species and site groupings based on edaphic properties was assessed using indicator species *** findings Based on similarity in overall soil characteristics,the sites formed three clusters:one comprising sites of sandstone geology,one with dune sand sites and the third cluster comprising sites of both shale and granite geologies(hereafter referred to as soil types).the DFA confirmed the distinctness of these clusters and the CCA showed a significant correlation between legume species composition and edaphic *** key edaphic parameters were clay content,iron(Fe),potassium(K),sulphur(S)and zinc(Zn).these findings reveal
