Apical periodontitis（AP） is a dental-driven condition caused by pathogens and their toxins infecting the inner portion of the tooth（i.e., dental pulp tissue）, resulting in inflammation and apical bone resorption affecting 50% of the worldwide population, with more than 15 million root canals performed annually in the United States. Current treatment involves cleaning and decontaminating the infected tissue with chemo-mechanical approaches and materials introduced years ago, such as calcium hydroxide, zinc oxide–eugenol, or even formalin products. Here, we present, for the first time, a nanotherapeutics based on using synthetic highdensity lipoprotein（sHDL） as an innovative and safe strategy to manage dental bone inflammation. sHDL application in concentrations ranging from 25 μg to 100 μg/mL decreases nuclear factor Kappa B（NF-κB） activation promoted by an inflammatory stimulus（lipopolysaccharide, LPS）. Moreover, sHDL at 500 μg/mL concentration markedly decreases in vitro osteoclastogenesis（P < 0.001）, and inhibits IL-1α（P = 0.027）, TNF-α（P = 0.004）, and IL-6（P < 0.001） production in an inflammatory state. Notably, sHDL strongly dampens the Toll-Like Receptor signaling pathway facing LPS stimulation, mainly by downregulating at least 3-fold the pro-inflammatory genes, such as Il1b, Il1a, Il6, Ptgs2, and Tnf. In vivo, the lipoprotein nanoparticle applied after NaOCl reduced bone resorption volume to（1.3 ± 0.05） mm3and attenuated the inflammatory reaction after treatment to（1 090 ± 184） cells compared to non-treated animals that had（2.9 ± 0.6） mm3（P = 0.012 3） and（2 443 ± 931） cells（P = 0.004）, thus highlighting its promising clinical potential as an alternative therapeutic for managing dental bone inflammation.

Previous published studies have shown an improvement of penile hemodynamic parameters after low-intensity extracorporeal shockwave therapy(Li-ESWT).However,the clinical significance of these findings remains unclear,and definitive selection criteria for Li-ESWT based on preexisting comorbidities have yet to be *** was an observational study of 113 patients with ED,evaluated between January 2019 and December 2021 in Andrology Unit at the Department of Urology and Renal Transplantation,University of Foggia(Foggia,Italy).Penile dynamic Doppler was performed to evaluate vascular parameters and 5-item version of the International Index of Erectile Dysfunction(IIEF-5)questionnaire was administered to assess the severity of *** was repeated 1 month after *** with a peak systolic velocity(PSV)30 cm s−1 at posttherapeutic penile dynamic Doppler.A clinically significant IIEF-5 score improvement was observed in 7 patients,21 patients,and 2 patients with mild-to-moderate,moderate,and severe pretreatment ED,*** different outcomes were assessed based on smoking habits,previous pelvic surgery,or use of oral phosphodiesterase-5 inhibitor(PDE5i).On the other side,only 1(6.7%)in 15 patients with diabetes mellitus showed an IIEF-5 score improvement after *** treatment determined a significant increase in PSV and correlated IIEF-5 improvement in ED *** advantage seemed particularly evident for moderate ED and was not affected by smoking habits,previous pelvic surgery,and use of ***,diabetic patients did not benefit from the treatment.

Female primates can emit vocalizations associated with mating that can function as honest signals of ***,we investigated the role of mating calls and visual signals in female geladas(Theropithecus gelada).Because females have a central role in the gelada society and seem to solicit sexual interactions,we answered whether they emit vocalizations in conjunction with gazing to increase mating success *** and during copulations,females can emit pre-copulation calls and copulation *** the first time,we identified a new female vocalization emitted at the final stage of copulations(end-copulation call),possibly marking the occurrence of *** found that longer pre-copulation call sequences were followed by both prolonged copulations and the presence of end-copulation calls,thus suggesting that females use pre-copulation calls to ensure successful copula ***,we found that different combinations of female vocal types and gazing had different effects on male vocal behavior and motivation to complete the *** analysis of the vocal and visual signals revealed a complex inter-sexual multimodal chattering with the leading role of females in the signal *** chattering,led by females,modulates male sexual arousal,thus increasing the probability of the copula success.

Background： So far, studies of avian space use are mostly realized in 2D, with the vertical dimension ignored. We propose here a new, relatively simple and computationally reasonable method for the estimation of volumetric （i.e. 3D） avian home ***： Through accurate GPS data-loggers, we collected 25,405 GPS points on Lesser Kestrels＇（Fdlco noumonni） space use during the nestling period in one main colony in *** applied our 3D home range estimator to the whole GPS dataset, and also separately to diurnal and nocturnal GPS ***： The 3D colony home range resulted equal to 28.12 km3. By considering daytime and night-time separately, the volumetric home ranges resulted considerably ***： Our 3D home range estimator, because of its intuitive and straightforward properties, can easily capi-talize on the datasets offered by modern biotelemetry （data-loggers, light detection and LIDAR sensors） and enhance conservation strategies for mitigating anthropogenic impacts on bird species. Its applications embrace, but are not limited to, more accurate estimates of collision risk with power lines, aircrafts and wind farms, and increased knowledge of birds＇space requirements in order to persist in their distribution areas.

Growing evidence has highlighted that angiotensin-converting enzyme(ACE)-inhibitors(ACEi)/AT1 receptor blockers(ARBs)may influence the complex interplay between dopamine and the renin-angiotensin system in the nigrostriatal pathway,thus affecting the development of levodopa-induced dyskinesia in Parkinson’s disease(PD).In the present study,we analyzed whether the use of this class of medication was associated with a reduced occurrence of levodopa-induced dyskinesia,using electronically-stored information of idiopathic PD patients enrolled at Novara University Hospital“Maggiore della Carità”.We conducted a retrospective case-control study identifying PD patients with dyskinesias(PwD;n=47)as *** each PwD we selected a non-dyskinetic control(NoD),nearly perfectly matched according to sex,Unified Parkinson’s Disease Rating Scale(UPDRS)part III score,and duration of antiparkinsonian *** logistic regression was used to evaluate whether dyskinesias were associated with ACEi/ARBs ***-four PD patients were included,aged 72.18±9 years,with an average disease duration of 10.20±4.8 years and 9.04±4.9 years of antiparkinsonian *** mean UPDRS part III score was 18.87±7.6 and the median HY stage was *** the NoD group,25(53.2%)were users and 22(46.8%)non-users of ACEi/***,in the PwD group,11(23.4%)were users and 36 non-users(76.6%)of this drug class(Pearson chi-square=8.824,P=0.003).Concerning general medication,there were no other statistically significant differences between *** controlling for tremor dominant phenotype,levodopa equivalent daily dose,HY 3-4,and disease duration,ACEi/ARBs use was a significant predictor of a lower occurrence of dyskinesia(OR=0.226,95%CI:0.080-0.636,P=0.005).Therefore,our study suggests that ACEi/ARBs may reduce levodopa-induced dyskinesia occurrence and,thanks to good tolerability and easy management,represent a feasible choice when dealing with the treatment of hypertension in PD patients.
