Owing to the increasing demand for harvesting energy from environmental vibration for use in self-powered electronic applications, cantilever-based vibration energy harvesting has attracted considerable interest from various parties and has become one of the most common approaches to converting redundant mechanical energy into electrical energy. As the output voltage produced from a piezoelectric material depends largely on the geometric shape and the size of the beam, there is a need to model and compare the performance of cantilever beams of differing *** paper presents the study of strain distribution in various shapes of cantilever beams, including a convex and concave edge profile elliptical beam that have not yet been discussed in any prior literature. Both analytical and finite-element models are derived and the resultant strain distributions in the beam are computed based on a MATlAB solver and ANSYS finite-element analysis tools. An optimum geometry for a vibration-based energy harvesting system is ***, experimental results comparing the power density for triangular and rectangular piezoelectric beams are also presented to validate the findings of the study, and the claim, as suggested in the literature, is verified.

实验探索了脂肪醇聚氧乙烯醚硫酸盐 (AES)、氯化十六烷基吡啶 (CPC)、β -萘磺酸聚合物 (NS)以及烷基酚聚氧乙烯醚 (TX -10 )等四种不同类型的表面活性剂在普通硅酸盐水泥表面的吸附行为。研究表明 ,AES在水泥颗粒表面的吸附是一种快吸附 ,属于lS型 ;CPC在水泥颗粒表面的吸附过程则是一种慢吸附 ,受动力学因素所控制 ;NS的吸附量与其浓度成线性关系 :TX -10则基本上不被吸附。结果显示 ,被吸附的三种表面活性剂都是疏水基朝向水相 ,增加了水泥颗粒的疏水性。然而AES随着添加量的增大 ,由于吸附胶束的形成 ,使水泥颗粒表面经由亲水 -疏水 -亲水的变化过程。从表面电荷的变化来看 ,AES、NS的添加均使水泥表面Zeta电位有所增加 ,而CPC却使得水泥颗粒表面从带负电变到带正电。

Dry yeast cells （DYC） were used as a cheap nitrogen source to replace expensive yeast extract （YE） for l-lactic acid production by thermophilic Bacillus coagulans. Cassava starch （200 g. l1） was converted to l-lactic acid by simultaneous saccharification and fermentation using Bacillus coagulans WCP10-4 at 50℃ in the presence of 20g·l-1 of DYC, giving 148.1 g·l-1 of l- lactic acid at 27 h with a productivity of 5.5 g·l-1·h-1 and a yield of 92%. In contrast, 154.4 g·l-1 of lactic acid was produced at 24 h with a productivity of 6.4 g·l-1. hl and a yield of 96% when equal amount of YE was used under the same conditions. Use of pre-autolyzed DYC at 50℃ for overnight slightly improved the lactic acid titer （154.5g·l-1） and productivity （7.7g·l-1·h-1） but gave the same yield （96%）.

Prototypical three-dimensional(3D)topological Dirac semimetals(DSMs),such as Cd3As2 and Na3Bi,contain electrons that obey a linear momentum-energy dispersion with different Fermi velocities along the three orthogonal momentum *** being extensively studied in recent years,the inherent Fermi velocity anisotropy has often been neglected in the theoretical and numerical studies of 3D *** this omission does not qualitatively alter the physics of light-driven massless quasiparticles in 3D DSMs,it does quantitatively change the optical coefficients which can lead to nontrivial implications in terms of nanophotonics and plasmonics *** we study the linear optical response of 3D DSMs for general Fermi velocity values along each *** the signature conductivity-frequency scaling,σ(ω)∝ω,of 3D Dirac fermion is well-protected from the Fermi velocity anisotropy,the linear optical response exhibits strong linear dichroism as captured by the universal extinction ratio scaling law,Λi j=(vi/v j)^2(where i=j denotes the three spatial coordinates x,y,z,and vi is the i-direction Fermi velocity),which is independent of frequency,temperature,doping,and carrier scattering *** Cd3As2 and Na3Bi3,an exceptionally strong extinction ratio larger than 15 and covering a broad terahertz window is *** findings shed new light on the role of Fermi velocity anisotropy in the optical response of Dirac semimetals and open up novel polarization-sensitive functionalities,such as photodetection and light modulation.

Superhydrophobic poly(vinylidene fluoride)(PVDF) membrane incorporated with nanoparticles was applied in membrane distillation to recover water from phenolic rich solution containing surfactant. The membranes coated on woven support were fabricated using phase inversion with dual bath coagulation and post-modified using silane. The membranes incorporated with TiO_2, SiO_2, or a mixture of TiO_2-SiO_2 nanoparticles achieved the water contact angle higher than 160°. The addition of TiO_2-SiO_2 mixture into PVDF matrix further enhanced the hierarchical roughness of membrane. Hence, PVDF/TiO_2-SiO_2 membrane achieved the highest permeation flux and rejected 99.9% of gallic acid in the feed(100 g/l). PVDF/TiO_2-SiO_2 membrane also maintained a relative flux(J/J0) higher than0.9 after 8 h of operation. Even with the presence of surfactant in phenolic rich solution, PVDF/TiO_2-SiO_2 membrane was able to exhibit relative flux above 0.8. The significant changes on the hydrophobicity and chemical properties of PVDF/TiO_2-SiO_2 membrane due to fouling were not observed after 50 h of static adsorption test.

Plasma treatment constitutes an efficient method for chemical-free disinfection.A spray-based system for dispensing plasma-activated aerosols onto surfaces would facilitate disinfection of complex and/or hidden surfaces inaccessible to direct line-of-sight(for example,UV)*** complexity and size of current plasma generators(for example,plasma jet and cometary plasma systems)-which prohibit portable operation,together with the short plasma lifetimes,necessitate a miniaturized in situ technique in which a source can be simultaneously activated and administered on-demand onto ***,we demonstrate this possibility by combining two nanoscale technologies for plasma and aerosol generation into an integrated device that is sufficiently small and *** is generated on a carpet of zinc oxide nanorods comprising a nanoneedle ensemble,which when raised to a high electric potential,constitutes a massive point charge array with near-singular electric fields to effect atmospheric *** plasma is then used to activate water transported through an underlying capillary wick,that is subsequently aerosolized under MHz-order surface acoustic *** show that the system,besides being amenable to miniaturization and hence integration into a chipscale device,leads to a considerable improvement in plasma-activation over its macroscale cometary discharge predecessor,with up to 20%and 127%higher hydrogen peroxide and nitrite ion concentrations that are respectively generated in the plasma-activated ***,in turn,leads to a 67%reduction in the disinfection time to achieve 95%bacterial load reduction,therefore demonstrating the potential of the technology as an efficient portable platform for on-demand field-use surface disinfection.
