Ship propulsion performance heavily depends on cavitation,increasing the recent interest in this field to lower ship *** research on the effects of cavitation is generally based on the open-water propeller performance but the interactions of the cavitating propeller with the ship hull significantly affect the propulsion performance of the *** this study,we first investigate the INSEAN E779A propeller by a RANSE-based CFD in open-water *** numerical implementation and the selected grid after sensitivity analysis partially succeeded in modeling the cavitating flow around the *** agreement was observed compared to experimental ***,using the open-water data as input,the propeller’s performance behind a full-scale ship was calculated under self-propulsion *** being an undesired incident,we found a rare condition in which cavitation enhances propulsion ***σ=1.5;the propeller rotation rate was lower,while the thrust and torque coefficients were higher.

Objective: The aim of this study was to research the relationship between Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and the synapsin III -196G>A and -631C>G polymorphisms and study their impact on neurocognition and behavior in Turkish children and adolescents. Methods: A total of 201 ADHD-diagnosed children and 100 control subjects aged between 8 and 15 years were recruited, and genetic material was obtained from saliva. In the diagnostic assessments, the KSADS- PL semi-structured interview was applied. Children with any comorbid psychiatric diagnosis (with the exclusion of oppositional defiant disorder (ODD)), medical conditions, prior psychotropic drug use history or IQ score below 80 were excluded. For the behavioral and ADHD symptom assessments, the Turgay DSM-IV Disruptive Behaviors Rating Scale, Teacher Report Form (TRF) and Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL) were completed by the parents and teachers. Neurocognitive profiles were evaluated with the CNS-Vital Signs computerized neurocognitive test battery. Results: No significant difference in ADHD prevalence was observed between subjects with the synapsin III gene -196G>A polymorphism and -631C>G polymorphisms. These polymorphisms were also not associated with subtypes of ADHD. We found a relationship between both polymorphisms and Stroop simple reaction time. Conclusion: Synapsin’s effect could be limited during childhood, but synapsin polymorphisms could be associated with Stroop simple reaction time.

Rootstocks effect on plant nutrition concentration in different organ of grafted watermelon

In this study carried out in 2009 and 2010 growing seasons, effect of rootstocks on plant nutrition partitioning in grafted watermelon onto four gourd rootstocks was investigated. Ferro, RS841 (Cucurbita maxima x C. moschata) and Argentario and Macis (Lagenaria hybrid) were used as rootstocks. Crimson Tide and Crisby watermelon cultivars were used as scion. Grafted and ungrafted seedlings were produced by a commercial seedling company. Plants were grafted by one cotyledon grafting techniques. Experiment was conducted in Alata Horticultural Research Station inMersin. The grafted plants were planted under low tunnel in early spring and regular cultural practices for watermelon were applied. Plant nutrition concentrations were determined in leaf, fruit rind, fruit flesh and seeds. Leaf sample was taken at flowering stage, rind, flesh and seed sample were taken from fully mature fruit. Nitrogen concentration was determined by modified Kjheldahl methods. Phosphorous concentration was determined by vanadomolybdophosphoric acid method. K, Ca, Mg, Fe, Mn, Zn and Cu concentration of samples were determined by atomic absorption spectrophotometry. Plant nutrient concentration in leaf, rind, flesh and seed were significantly affected by rootstocks. Increase in concentration of N, P, K, Ca and Mg in leaves was not observed in grafted plant. Ungrafted plant had higher concentration of Fe, Mn, Zn and Cu in their leaves. Ca concentration in rind of fruits from grafted watermelon was higher than ungrafted control plant except Crimson Tide/Macis and Crimson Tide/Argentario graft combinations. Plant nutrition content of fruit flesh was significantly affected by rootstocks and scion. Magnesium, Fe, Zn and Mn concentration of seed was not significantly influenced by rootstocks and scion while other plant nutrient content was significantly affected rootstocks and scion.

The Evaluation of the Knee Joint in Terms of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Measurements in Osteoarthritis Patients:A Comparative Study Comprising a Control Group

The aim of this study was to assess the knee joints of osteoarthritis patients in terms of clinical and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) measurements and draw definitive conclusions from these quantimetric data. In order to achieve the above-mentioned goal, the knees of individuals from two distinct groups were examined by MRI. One group consisted of osteoarthritis patients while the other comprised the control individuals. All individuals from both groups underwent clinical and MRI measurements concerning their knees. These data were compared by using the statistical software from the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) v.15 program. Statistically significant differences were found between the control and patients groups in terms of the measurements of the second (short) diameter of the medial femoral condyle, and the intercondylar distance (p < 0.05). In addition to these findings, the Receiver Operating Characteristics (ROC) curve analysis gave statistically significant results for both of these measurements. The cutoff values for these criteria were as follows in sequence order: a sensitivity of 75% and a specificity of 52% for the medial femoral condyle, and a sensitivity of 70% and a specificity of 70% for the intercondylar distance. The ROC curve data may not be a deterministic outcome alone for this study. But it may in fact have a significant meaning when it is evaluated together with other statistically significant data. The t-test for Equality of Means, for example, gave significant results, concerning the measurements of the short axis of the medial femoral condyle and the intercondylar distance. It is well known that it is the medial portion of the knee joint which deteriorates the most during the process of osteoarthritis of the knee (OAK), and this complies with the results of this study.

Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) is a diagnostic and therapeutic procedure performed for pancreatobiliary diseases. Procedure has many complications and most frequent is pancreatitis. Knowing the risks of the pancreatitis due to ERCP can reduce the rate of the complication and can affect its consequences. Many studies are performed for describing the risk factors of the procedure and the results are divided in two categories;patient related and endoscopy related. Patient related factors are female sex, young age, sphincter of oddi dysfunction, intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasm and previous pancreatitis, endoscopy related factors are unexperienced center, multiple cannulation, precut sphincterotomy, difficult cannulation, deep wire pancreatic cannulation and pancreatic or main duct contrast injection. Foreseeing the risk of the patient can reduce the complication rate of the endoscopist by selection of patients for new performers or taking precautions for the experienced ones.
