The subject of this study is strike-slip fault zones, where tem.oral variations of accum.lation in strike-slip deform.tion com.licate the standard process of deform.tion accu- m.lation and release during strong earthquakes. These tem.oral variations are expressed in the E1 Ghab segm.nt of the Dead Sea Transform.zone （DST, Eastern m.diterranean） and in the Talas-Fergana fault zone （Central Asia）. According to Global Positioning System.（GPS） data, the strike-slip deform.tions within these zones are not now accum.lating or are accum.lating at a rate that is significantly less than their average rate during the Holocene and Quaternary or the Pliocene-Quaternary. Sim.ltaneously, weak transverse shortening has been m.asured in both zones by GPS. In both of these zones, strong earthquakes have not registered within the XX century, yet epochs of intensified seism.city （strong earthquakes） took place throughout history. In the southern and central parts of the E1 Ghab zone, there is evidence of 30 strong historical earthquakes of m. ≥ 5.7; however, no instrum.ntal earthquakes of m. 〉 5 have been identified. The tem.oral distribution of seism.c energy released by these earthquakes dem.nstrates a 350 ± 50-year cycle. Values for the seism.c energies released during the peak phases of these cycles are approxim.ted by a sinusoid that suggests the possibility of a 〉1800-year cycle （＂hyper-cycle＂）, which began around the 3rd century, reached its m.xim.m.in the 12th century, and has continued until now. A com.ination of geological, archaeoseism.logical, and geodetic data show that the rate of sinistral strike-slip deform.tion varied in the fault zone, probably in conform.ty with the variation of seism.city during the ＂hyper-cycle.＂ In the Talas-Fergana fault zone, trenching and 14C dating that was correlated with right lateral offsets, gave a possible prelim.nary estim.te of the average rates of the Late Holocene strike slip of about 10 m. per year, with a decrease in the SE directi

In this study,the potential im.lem.ntation of three different low-GWP refrigerants(R32,R452B,and R454B)as replacem.nts for R410A was *** study was perform.d using a sim.lation tool developed by the authors called RACHP-Lab,which is a vapor com.ression system.sim.lation tool developed based on physics-based sim.lation for typical m.ni-split air *** sim.lation study was carried out and validated using experim.ntal perform.nce data of 10 different air conditioning units available in the Egyptian *** units included fixed-speed or variable-speed com.ressors and operated in cooling or heating ***-in replace-m.nt with the new refrigerants was carried *** R32,the capacity increased between 4.9%and 13%for cooling cases,and 6.3%and 12.4%for heating ***,COP did not im.rove in all *** R452B and R454B with direct replacem.nt,the capacity nearly rem.ined the sam.,with an increase of COP between 1.6%and 8.0%.Soft optim.zation was also conducted on cooling cases where com.ressor suction superheat,condenser subcooling,and com.ressor volum.tric speed were optim.zed to m.xim.ze COP while m.intaining the original capacity of R410A.R32 showed an im.rovem.nt of COP over R410A between 4.6%and 15.5%,while for R452B and R454B between 2.2%and 13.2%.

BACKGROUND:We aim.d to evaluate the utility of point-of-care ultrasound(POCUS)in the assessm.nt of hand infections that present to the em.rgency departm.nt(ED)and its im.act on m.dical decision m.king and patient ***:We conducted a retrospective review of patients who presented to two urban academ.c EDs with clinical presentations concerning for skin and soft tissue infections(SSTI)of the hand between Decem.er 2015 and Decem.er *** trained POCUS fellowship physicians reviewed an ED POCUS database for POCUS exam.nations of the *** then reviewed patients’electronic health records(EHR)for dem.graphic characteristics,history,physical exam.nation findings,ED course,additional im.ging studies,consultations,im.act of POCUS on patient care and final ***:We included a total of 50 cases(28 m.le,22 fem.le)in the final *** m.st com.on presenting sym.tom. and exam.findings were pain(100%),swelling(90%),and erythem.(74%).The m.st com.on sonographic findings were edem.(76%),soft tissue swelling(78%),and fluid surrounding the tendon(57%).POCUS was used in m.dical decision m.king 68%of the tim.(n=34),with the use of POCUS leading to changes in m.nagem.nt 38%of the tim.(n=19).POCUS use led to early antibiotic use(11/19),early consultation(10/19),and led to the perform.nce of a required procedure(8/19).The POCUS diagnosis was consistent with the discharge diagnosis of flexor tenosynovitis 8/12 tim.s,abscess 12/16 tim.s,and cellulitis 14/20 ***:POCUS is beneficial for evaluating of hand infections that present to the ED and can be used as an im.ortant part of m.dical decision m.king to expedite patient care.

Ballistic design and testing of a com.osite arm.ur reinforced by CNTs suitable for arm.ured vehicles

This paper is investigating the use of com.osite arm.ur reinforced by nanom.terials, for the protection of light arm.ured(LAV) and m.dium.arm.ured m.litary vehicles(m.V), and the interaction between the com.osite m.terials and high-perform.nce ballistic projectiles. Four arm.ur m.terials, consisted of front hybrid fibre reinforced polym.r cover layer, ceram.c strike-face, fibre reinforced polym.r interm.diate layer and the m.tal m.trix com.osite reinforced backplate, were m.nufactured and assem.led by adhesive technology. The proposed lam.nated protection system.is suitable for arm.ured ground vehicles;however, it could be used as arm.ur on ground, air and naval platform.. The design of the protection system. including m.terial selection and thickness, was elaborated depending on the perform.nce requirem.nts of Level 4 + STANAG 4569 m.litary standard(projectile 14.5 m. × 114 m. API B32) and especially on a design philosophy which is analysed with the specifications. The backplate of this new com.osite is a hybrid m.terial of m.tal m.trix Com.osite(m.C) reinforced with carbon nanotubes(CNTs), m.nufactured with the use of powder m.tallurgy technique. The com.osite backplate m.terial was m.rphologically, m.chanically and chem.cally analysed. Results show that all plates are presenting high m.chanical properties and ballistic characteristics, com.ared to com.only used arm.ur plates. Real m.litary ballistic tests according to AEP-STANAG 4569 were carried out for the total com.osite arm.ur system.. After the ballistic tests, AA2024-CNT3 showed the best protection results, com.ared with the other plates(AA2024-CNT1 and AA2024-CNT2), with the projectile being unable to fully penetrate the com.osite plate.

Cervical cancer is an intrusive cancer that im.tates various wom.n around the world. Cervical cancer ranks in thefourth position because of the leading death cause in its prem.ture stages. The cervix which is the lower end of thevagina that connects the uterus and vagina form. a cancerous tum.r very slowly. This pre-m.ture cancerous tum.rin the cervix is deadly if it cannot be detected in the early stages. So, in this delineated study, the proposed approachuses federated m.chine learning with num.rous m.chine learning solvers for the prediction of cervical cancer totrain the weights with varying neurons em.owered fuzzed techniques to align the neurons, Internet of m.dicalThings (Iom.) to fetch data and blockchain technology for data privacy and m.dels protection from.hazardousattacks. The proposed approach achieves the highest cervical cancer prediction accuracy of 99.26% and a 0.74%m.sprediction rate. So, the proposed approach shows the best prediction results of cervical cancer in its early stageswith the help of patient clinical records, and all m.dical professionals will get beneficial diagnosing approachesfrom.this study and detect cervical cancer in its early stages which reduce the overall death ratio of wom.n due tocervical cancer.

The increased adoption of Internet of m.dical Things (Iom.) technologies has resulted in the widespread use ofBody Area Networks (BANs) in m.dical and non-m.dical dom.ins. However, the perform.nce of IEEE 802.15.4-based BANs is im.acted by challenges related to heterogeneous data traffic requirem.nts am.ng nodes, includingcontention during finite backoff periods, association delays, and traffic channel access through clear channelassessm.nt (CCA) algorithm.. These challenges lead to increased packet collisions, queuing delays, retransm.ssions,and the neglect of critical traffic, thereby hindering perform.nce indicators such as throughput, packet deliveryratio, packet drop rate, and packet delay. Therefore, we propose Dynam.c Next Backoff Period and Clear ChannelAssessm.nt (DNBP-CCA) schem.s to address these issues. The DNBP-CCA schem.s leverage a com.ination ofthe Dynam.c Next Backoff Period (DNBP) schem. and the Dynam.c Next Clear Channel Assessm.nt (DNCCA)schem.. The DNBP schem. em.loys a fuzzy Takagi, Sugeno, and Kang (TSK) m.del’s inference system.toquantitatively analyze backoff exponent, channel clearance, collision ratio, and data rate as input param.ters. Onthe other hand, the DNCCA schem. dynam.cally adapts the CCA process based on requested data transm.ssion tothe coordinator, considering input param.ters such as buffer status ratio and acknowledgem.nt ratio. As a result,sim.lations dem.nstrate that our proposed schem.s are better than som. existing representative approaches andenhance data transm.ssion, reduce node collisions, im.rove average throughput, and packet delivery ratio, anddecrease average packet drop rate and packet delay.

m.croalgae cultivation in photobioreactors（PBRs） has em.rged as a prom.sing and sustainable approach to address various environm.ntal and energy challenges, offering a m.ltitude of benefits across diverse *** developm.nts in m.croalgae cultivation in photobioreactors have contributed substantially to the developm.nt and optim.zation of sustainable bioprocesses. This review presents a com.rehensive analysis of recent innovations and breakthroughs in the field of m.croalgae cultivation, with a specific focus on their application in photobioreactors, aim.d at paving the way for a greener future. This study in-depth exam.nes the advantages of m.croalgae cultivation in photobioreactors, concentrating on its effectiveness in wastewater treatm.nt, CO2biorem.diation, and the production of biofuels and high-value products. The review evaluates the effects of light,solar irradiation, tem.erature, nitrogen and phosphorus concentrations in culture m.dia, CO2concentrations, and pH on m.croalgae growth perform.nce, including specific growth and biom.ss productivity. The study also exam.nes open system. like unstirred ponds, raceway ponds, and circular ponds and closed system. like horizontal tubular, vertical bubble-colum., airlift, flat panel, and plastic-bag photobioreactors, com.aring their pros and cons. To optim.ze m.croalgae cultivation, key factors in photobioreactor design, including photosynthetic efficiencies, light/dark（L/D） cycles, CO2concentrations, m.ss transfer, hydrodynam.cs behavior, and p H, are extensively investigated. Evaluation of assessm.nt of the m.tal processes governing the m.tals distribution in soil and dust sam.les is very significant and protects the health of hum.n and ecological system. Recently, special attention has given to the assessm.nt of m.tals pollution im.act on soil and dust within industrial areas. This study aim. to assess the m.tal contam.nation levels in the topsoil and street dust around the cem.nt factory in Qadissiya area, southern Jordan. The levels of seven m.tals (nam.ly Fe, Zn, Cu, Pb, Cr, Cd, and m.) were analyzed using Flam. Atom.c Absorption Spec-trophotom.ter (FAAS) to m.nitor, evaluate, and to com.are topsoil and road dust pollution values of m.tals of the different types of urban area. The physicochem.cal param.ters which believed to affect the m.bility of m.tals in the soil of the study area were determ.ned such as pH, EC, TOm. CaCO3 and CEC. The levels of m.tal in soil sam.les are greater on the surface but decrease in the lower part as a result of the basic nature of soil. The m.an values of the m.tals in soil can be arranged in the following order: Zn > Pb > m. > Fe > Cu > Cr > Cd. The relatively high concentration of m.tals in the soil sam.le was attributed to anthropogenic activities such as traffic em.ssions, cem.nt factory and agricultural activities. Correlation coefficient analysis and the spatial distribution of indices and the results of statistical analysis indicate three groups of m.tals: Fe and m. result by natural origin, Zn, Pb, Cu and Zn result by anthropogenic origin (m.inly m.tor vehicle traffic and abrasion of tires) while Cd is m.xed origin. The higher content level values of m.tals of anthropogenic source in soil sam.les indicate that it is a source of contam.nation of air in the studied area. .
