The International Conference on Arginine and Pyrimidines （ICAP） had its origin as an arginine workshop organised by a group of microbiologists led by Werner Maas in 1972 （rubio, 2003）. The shared requirement of carbamoyl phosphate in both arginine and pyrimidine metabolism led to a natural association of researchers working in both fields.

Compartmentation of enzymes via filamentation has arisen as a mechanism for the regulation of *** 2010,three groups independently reported that CTP synthase(CTPS)can assemble into a filamentous structure termed the *** searching for CTPS-interacting proteins,here we perform a yeast two-hybrid screening of Drosophila proteins and identify a putative CTPS-interacting protein,△~1-pyrroline-5-carboxylate synthase(P5CS).Using the Drosophila follicle cell as the in vivo model,we confirm that P5CS forms cytoophidia,which are associated with CTPS *** of P5CS increases the length of CTPS ***,filamentation of CTPS affects the morphology of P5CS cytoophid ***,in vitro analyses confirm the filament-fo rming property of *** work links CTPS with P5CS,two enzymes involved in the rate-limiting steps in pyrimidine and proline biosynthesis,respectively.

AIM:To compare the safety and efficacy of conventional versus accelerated(9 mW/cm^2)corneal collagen crosslinking(CXL)in progressive keratoconus at the 2-year ***:In this prospective study,consecutive progressive keratoconus patients were randomized to receive either conventional CXL(CCXL)or accelerated CXL(ACXL;using hydroxypropyl methylcellulose-assisted riboflavin imbibition for 10 min at 9 mW/cm^2).Visual,refractive,keratometric,topographic,and aberrometric outcomes and stromal demarcation line depth(DLD)measurements were compared at the end of a 2-year ***:Thirty-two eyes from 32 patients in the CCXL and 27 eyes from 27 patients in the ACXL groups completed 2-year *** 2y post-CXL,both uncorrected and corrected visual acuities improved significantly in both *** improvements in keratometric readings,flattening rate(flattening of the maximum keratometry more than 1 D),3 topographic indices,and vertical coma were significantly better in the CCXL group compared to the ACXL group(Pred by anterior segment optical coherence tomography or in vivo confocal microscopy was better detectable and significantly deeper in the CCXL group compared to the ACXL *** deeper DLD was found to be significantly correlated with improvements in the mean keratometry *** was noted in 11.1%of eyes in the ACXL group,whereas progression was not observed in any patient eye in the CCXL ***:In this prospective randomized study,ACXL is less effective in halting the progression of keratoconus at a 2-year follow-up compared to CCXL.

The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of Palm Oil By-pass Fat （POBF） on milk composition of early lactation Holstein during dry season, 24 postpartum Holstein （1 d-14 d） were selected and align to two groups according to CrD experimental design; each group included 12 Holstein cows. The control received by-pass fat 0 g/h.d, the experimental group received by-pass fat 300 g/h.d. The results shown, DMI and yield of milk did not be affected with supplementation of by-pass fat, however, milk protein increased by 6.71%, milk fat increased by 8.16%, lactose increased by 0.22%, SNF increased by 1.98%, TS increased 4.08%; digestibility of diet protein decreased by 6.62%, digestibility of EE decreased by 7.96%, digestibility of NDF and ADL decreased by 1.36%, 8.97% respectively, digestibility of DM and om decreased by 4.42, 3.07 percentage units; amount of C4-C17 milk fatty acids showed a decreased tendency, that of CIs-C22 showed an increased tendency, the milk CLA increased significantly （P 〈 0.01）. To sum up, supplementation of by-pass fat for early lactation Holstein is an important measure to balance energy and sustain milk yield and quality.

Extruded Corn Meal as a Partial replacement for Steam Flaked Corn in Finishing Diets for Feedlot Cattle: Growth Performance and Digestive Function of Feedlot Cattle

Sixty-four Holstein steers (247 ± 4 kg) were used in a 70-d experiment to evaluate the effects of partial replacement of steam flake corn (SFC) with extruded corn meal (EC) on growth performance and dietary net energy. Treatments consisted of a steam flaked corn-based finishing diet containing 0%, 10%, 20%, or 30% EC, where EC replaced 0%, 15%, 30%, or 45% of SFC (DM basis). replacement of SFC with increasing levels of EC did not affect (P > 0.10) ADG, DMI, and gain efficiency. When EC replaced 15% to 30% of SFC, observed dietary NE was 99% of expected. Whereas, when EC replaced 45% of SFC, observed dietary NE was 94% of expected. Four Holstein steers (210 ± 7 kg) with cannulas in the rumen and proximal duodenum were used in a 4 × 4 Latin square experiment to evaluate treatment effects on characteristics of digestion. Partial replacement of SFC with EC did not affect (P > 0.10) flow of undegraded feed N and microbial N and to the small intestine, and ruminal microbial N efficiency (g microbial N/kg om fermented). Likewise, there were no treatment effects (P > 0.10) on ruminal digestion of om, NDF, starch and feed N. As expected, total tract digestion of starch for all treatments exceeded 99%. However, partial replacement of SFC with EC decreased total tract digestion of DM and om (linear effect, P = 0.02), and dietary DE (linear effect, P = 0.03). These effects were more pronounced where EC replaced 45% of SFC. Partial replacement of SFC with EC did not affect (P > 0.10) ruminal pH, total VFA concentration, molar proportions of acetate, propionate, and butyrate, and estimated methane production. It is concluded that partial replacement of SFC with EC does not have a beneficial effect on ruminal microbial efficiency and digestive function. The feeding value of extruded corn for feedlot cattle is comparable to that of steam flaked corn provided the inclusion rate does not exceed 20% of diet dry matter.

Investigations are reported into the use of an electromagnetically convoluted arc,external to a magnetic field(B-field)producing coil,in combination with a parallel r,L,C resonant circuit for interrupting quasi-steady *** order to elucidate the complex interactions between the arc,B-field and r,L,C circuit,the B-field producing coil is energised independently from the current to be interrupted and the r,L,C *** results are presented for the time variation of the currents flowing through the arc gap,the B-field coil and the parallel r,L,C circuit,along with the voltage across the arc *** insight is gained into the role of various effects,which are produced by the complex interactions and which might be used to advantage for direct current interruption.

During the deformation of Mg alloys,{10-12}extension twin often contributes to the formation of basal texture but rarely assists the nucleation of recrystallization,i.e.,effective grain refinement,therefore it seems to make against the improvement of formability and mechanical *** this work,{10-12}extension twin has been creatively utilized as a preference nucleation site for static recrystallization(SrX),achieving grain refinement and orientation randomization in a Mg-Gd-y alloy using multi-directional impact forging(MDIF)and subsequent annealing *** of{10-12}extension twin on SrX behavior has been investigated by annealing treatment at 450℃using quasi-in-situ optical microscopy(om)and quasi-in-situ electron back-scattering diffraction(EBSD).The microstructural evolution during annealing shows that several SrX gains can nucleate from the grain boundary of untwinned grains,but they only have few influences on the final microstructure due to their limited volume faction and sluggish *** contrast,a large number of SrX gains can initiate from{10-12}extension twin and grow up without the confine of twin ***,they consume their parent grains and make the main contribution to grain *** should be attributed to those pinned{10-12}twin boundary,by interacting with various dislocation slips during the MDIF process,which can operate like grain boundary,store enough strain energy,and promote the nucleation of SrX during *** the other hand,SrX grains usually keep initial random orientation and further randomize the forging texture during annealing treatment.
