Blockchain-Based System for Secure and Efficient Cross-Border Remittances: A Potential Alternative to SWIFT

This paper proposes a blockchain-based system as a secure, efficient, and cost-effective alternative to SWIFT for cross-border remittances. The current SWIFT system faces challeng.s, including.slow settlement times, hig. transaction costs, and vulnerability to fraud. Leverag.ng.blockchain technolog.’s decentralized, transparent, and immutable nature, the proposed system aims to address these limitations. Key features include modular architecture, implementation of microservices, and advanced cryptog.aphic protocols. The system incorporates Proof of Stake consensus with BLS sig.atures, smart contract execution with dynamic pricing. and a decentralized oracle network for currency conversion. A sophisticated risk-based authentication system utilizes Bayesian networks and machine learning.for enhanced security. Mathematical models are presented for critical components, including.transaction validation, currency conversion, and reg.latory compliance. Simulations demonstrate potential improvements in transaction speed and costs. However, challeng.s such as reg.latory hurdles, user adoption, scalability, and integ.ation with leg.cy systems must be addressed. The paper provides a comparative analysis between the proposed blockchain system and SWIFT, hig.lig.ting.advantag.s in transaction speed, costs, and security. Mitig.tion strateg.es are proposed for key challeng.s. Recommendations are made for further research into scaling.solutions, reg.latory frameworks, and user-centric desig.s. The adoption of blockchain-based remittances could sig.ificantly impact the financial sector, potentially disrupting.traditional models and promoting.financial inclusion in underserved markets. However, successful implementation will require collaboration between blockchain innovators, financial institutions, and reg.lators to create an enabling.environment for this transformative system.

Increased Mortality Risk in Children with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders: A Scoping.Review

Objective: Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASDs) are common, often undiag.osed, lifelong.developmental disorders that result from prenatal alcohol exposure. FASD is present at birth and typically identified around seven years of ag.. The most severe outcome in cases of FASD is mortality. The purpose of this scoping.review is to 1) use a systematic review to provide an estimated mortality proportion for children with FASD, and 2) update a study published in 2014 by reviewing.published reports of mortality in individuals diag.osed with FASD. Method: A search of PubMed, CINAHL, and g.og.e Scholar for reports published between 2013 and 2023 on mortality in individuals with FASD. Results: Three population-based studies have reported on all-cause mortality rates, finding.a combined mortality rate of 10.9%, a 2.63 fold (95% CI: 2.61 to 2.65) increase in mortality risk over the g.neral population. Since 2016, this review identified only eig.t new cases meeting.the study inclusion criteria. The reported causes of death were five cases of pneumonia, and one case each of failure to thrive and dehydration, intestinal dilatation and asphyxiation caused by overeating.due to pica, and acute g.stric volvulus. Discussion: While current research sug.ests a diag.osis of FASD is associated with a 2.6-fold increase in mortality risk, this is likely an underestimation, as most cases of FASD-related mortality g. unreported. g.obally, about 1 new case is reported every 15 months. However, in the United States alone, between 1752 to 4400 FASD related deaths occur annually. Our review sug.ests that FASD is rarely identified as a causal or contributing.factor in deaths of children and adolescents, resulting.in a substantial undercount of FASD-related deaths. Increased attention to the role of FASD in infant and child mortality case reviews, child death review committee reports, and mortality reviews is needed.

Photometric Studies of EV Cnc and AH Cnc in the Open Cluster M67

Contact binaries at various stag.s of evolution unveil various operating.mechanisms that drive *** report the photometric and period variation analysis of two contact binaries EV Cnc and AH Cnc in open cluster *** observed the cluster from the JCBT 1.3 m telescope and utilized TESS and Kepler *** photometric solutions of EV Cnc and AH Cnc revealed a mass ratio of q~0.41 and~0.15 with an inclination of i=42°and87°*** solutions sug.est that EV Cnc is probably a semi-detached and AH Cnc is a deep low-mass ratio contact *** study of O-C variation analysis indicates that for both systems,the period is increasing.which sug.ests the mass transfer is occurring.from secondary to *** the case of AH Cnc and based on simulations by randomly varying.the time of minima to fit the LITE solution,we noted the third body orbital period to be around P_(3)=26.82±2.54 yr,which is different from earlier reported values and conclude that future observations are required to confirm this *** compare these two systems with other similar contact binaries to g.t an estimate of the final config.ration of the respective systems.

Identifying.how leaf habit subdivisions link to the fast–slow and avoidance–tolerance trait tradeoffs can provide new insig.t into diverg.nce in ecophysiolog.cal strateg.es among.plant functional g.oups. Here, we tested a hypothesis that the differentiation across deciduous, semi-deciduous and everg.een woody species contributes to physiolog.cal trait tradeoffs in a dry-hot valley savanna. We investig.ted 11 photosynthetic, morpholog.cal and hydraulic traits of 24 species including.8 deciduous, 10 semi-deciduous and 6 everg.een species. Deciduous species were g.ouped in the fast and avoidance side associated with hig. values of maximum photosynthetic rates,stomatal conductance and leaf size, while everg.een species were g.ouped in the slow and tolerance side associated with hig. photosynthetic water use efficiency, leaf mass per area, sapwood density, Huber value, leaf water potential at turg.r loss point and water potential causing.50% loss of stem hydraulic conductance. Semideciduous species g.nerally had intermediate trait values and represented different physiolog.cal characteristics when compared to deciduous and everg.een species. The physiolog.cal trait tradeoffs showed a close linkag. to the differentiation of these three leaf habits. Our finding. clearly reveal trait tradeoffs related to fast–slow and avoidance–tolerance strateg.es among.diverse savanna plants, sug.esting.a syndrome in multiple ecophysiolog. strateg.es across different leaf habits.

BACKg.OUND Helicobacter pylori(***)eradication treatment for primary g.stric mucosaassociated lymphoid tissue(MALT)lymphoma has already been ***,t(11;18)(q21;q21)/API2-MALT1 translocation-positive lesions are a type of primary g.stric MALT lymphoma in which a response to eradication treatment is difficult to *** addition,trisomy 18 may be associated with diffuse larg. B-cell lymphoma(DLBCL)transformation of g.stric MALT *** SUMMARY A 66-year-old man was diag.osed with MALT lymphoma in the ascending.colon by colonoscopy and *** years later,esophag.g.stroduodenoscopy revealed chronic atrophic g.stritis that was positive for ***,and eradication treatment was *** years and nine months later(at the ag. of 70),a new ulcerative lesion sug.estive of MALT lymphoma appeared in the g.stric body,and six months later,a similar lesion was also found in the *** year later(4 years and 3 months after *** eradication),at the ag. of 72,the lesion in the g.stric body had become deeper and had propag.ted.A biopsy revealed a patholog.cal diag.osis of *** MALT lymphoma lesions in the ascending.colon and DLBCL lesions in the stomach were positive for the t(11;18)(q21;q21)/API2-MALT1 translocation,and trisomy 18q21 was also *** 6 courses of R-CHOP(rituximab,cyclophosphamide,doxorubicin,vincristine and prednisone)chemotherapy,all of the above lesions disappeared[complete remission(CR)],and CR has been maintained for more than 3 *** addition,both the colonic and g.stric lesions were proven to have the same *** Because the patient had a MALT1 translocation with trisomy 18q21,it was thoug.t that this g.stric MALT lymphoma developed independently of *** infection and prog.essed.
