AIM： Microcirculatory dysfunction and free oxygen radicals are important factors in the pathogenesis of severe acute pancreatitis. Additional oxygen delivery might enhance lipid peroxidation but may also improve pancreatic microcirculation. this study assesses the effect of free cellular bovine hemoglobin on the formation of oxygen radicals and microcirculation in a rodent model of severe acute pancreatitis. MEtHODS： Fifteen minutes after induction of acute pancreatitis Wistar rats received either 0.8 mL bovine hemoglobin （HBOC-200）, hydroxyethyl starch （HES） or 2.4 mL of normal saline to ensure normovolemic substitution. After 6 h of examination the pancreas was excised and rapidly processed for indirect measurement of lipid peroxidation products malondialdehyde （MDA） and reduced glutathione （GSH） in pancreatic tissue. RESULtS： the single application of HBOC-200 improved pancreatic microcirculation and reduced histopathological tissue damage significantly. tissue concentration of MDA did not differ between the groups. Also no differences in GSH levels were detected.CONCLUSION： though the single application of HBOC-200 and HES improve pancreatic microcirculation, no differences in lipid peroxidation products were detected. the beneficial effect of additional oxygen supply （HBOC-200） does not lead to enhanced lipid peroxidation.

Background:Extrahepatic body fat could be a relevant factor affecting liver regeneration after partial *** aim of this study was to evaluate the potential role of body fatty tissue in liver regeneration capacity after liver resection in a cohort of living ***:We observed liver regeneration in 120 patients:70 living donors who underwent right hepatectomy and 50 recipients who got a right graft *** volumetry and body fat analysis were performed based on the computed tomography images with volumetry *** gain of liver volume was calculated between three points in time considering the absolute and percentage values:before surgery and early(median 10 days,range 4-21 days)and late(median 27 weeks,range 18-40 weeks)after ***’s correlation was used to examine the potential correlation between adipose tissue and liver ***:Pearson’s correlation showed a significant correlation between the subcutaneous fat mass index(sFMI)and early(r=0.173,P=0.030),as well late(r=0.395,P=0.0004)percental liver volume gain in the whole *** stratification in donor’s and recipient’s collectives,the effect of extrahepatic adipose tissue appears in multiple regression only in the donor’s collective:early(β=0.219,t=2.137,P=0.036)and late(β=0.390,t=2.552,P=0.015)percental volume ***:Subcutaneous adipose tissue is a positive predictive factor to estimate the goodness of liver regeneration after partial hepatectomy in normosthenic donors.

Understanding the influence of adsorption sites to the electronic properties of adsorbed molecules on two-dimensional(2D)ultrathin insulator is of essential importance for future organic-inorganic hybrid ***,the adsorption and electronic states of manganese phthalocyanine(MnPc)on a single layer of hexagonal boron nitride(h-BN)have been comprehensively studied by low-temperature scanning tunneling microscopy/spectroscopy and tight binding *** frontier orbitals of the MnPc can change drastically by reversible manipulation of individual MnPc molecules onto and away from the single atomic vacancies at the h-BN ***,the change of the molecular electronic configuration can be controlled depending on whether the atomic vacancy is below the metal center or the ligand of the *** findings give new insight into defect-engineering of the organic-inorganic hybrid nanodevices down to submolecular level.

Chronic intestinal failure(CIF)is a rare but feared complication of Crohn’s *** on the remaining length of the small intestine,the affected intestinal segment,and the residual bowel function,CIF can result in a wide spectrum of symptoms,from single micronutrient malabsorption to complete intestinal *** of CIF has improved significantly in recent *** in home-based parenteral nutrition,in particular,have translated into increased survival and improved quality of ***,60%of patients are permanently reliant on parenteral *** results with new drugs such as teduglutide have added a new dimension to CIF *** outcomes of patients with CIF could be greatly improved by more effective prevention,understanding,and *** complex cases,the care of patients with CIF requires a multidisciplinary approach involving not only physicians but also dietitians and nurses to provide optimal intestinal rehabilitation,nutritional support,and an improved quality of ***,we summarize current literature on CIF and short bowel syndrome,encompassing epidemiology,pathophysiology,and advances in surgical and medical management,and elucidate advances in the understanding and therapy of CIF-related complications such as catheter-related bloodstream infections and intestinal failure-associated liver disease.

the applications of intelligent techniques have increased exponentially in recent days to study most of the non-linear parameters. In particular, the behavior of earth resembles the non- linearity applications. An efficient tool is needed for the interpretation of geophysical parameters to study the subsurface of the earth. Artificial Neural Networks （ANN） perform certain tasks if the structure of the network is modified accordingly for the purpose it has been used. the three most robust networks were taken and comparatively analyzed for their performance to choose the appropriate network. the single- layer feed-forward neural network with the back propagation algorithm is chosen as one of the well- suited networks after comparing the results. Initially, certain synthetic data sets of all three-layer curves have been taken tk^r training the network, and the network is validated by the field datasets collected from tuticorin Coastal Region （78°7＇30＂E and 8°48＇45＂N）, tamil Nadu, India. the interpretation has been done successfully using the corresponding learning algorithm in the present study. With proper training of back propagation networks, it tends to give the resistivity and thickness of the subsurface layer model of the field resistivity data concerning the synthetic data trained earlier in the appropriate network. the network is trained with more Vertical Electrical Sounding （VES） data, and this trained network is demon- strated by the field data. Groundwater table depth also has been modeled.

Knowledge of the stress field in the Earth＇s crust is a key issue for the understanding of geodynamic processes, seismic hazard assessment, and stability of underground openings such as waste disposals, tunnels, mines or wells, and reservoir management. the World Stress Map project is a collaborative project of academia, industry and governmental organizations that aims to understand the states and sources of tectonic stresses in the Earth＇s crust. We present the World Stress Map at 1：46,000,000 scale as a result of more than two decades of international collaboration. the map reveals that the first-order pattern of stress is of plate-wide scale, indi- cating that plate boundary forces are the major control of the stress orientations and the tectonic regime.

Non-antibiotics affect bacterial susceptibility towards antibiotics in a multifactorial manner, including perturbation of membrane energetic and a possibly direct interaction with drug efflux transporters themselves. thus, efflux inhibiting compounds affect susceptibilities to antibiotics that act either intracellular or at the bacterial wall. therefore they may be applied as helper compounds to conventional antibiotic treatments. A valid definition of the effect of these compounds is crucial. Conventional microbiological quotations such as checkerboard or MIC definition do not discriminate the complexity of a system where several compounds interact with several targets both on the bacterial membrane and soma. We presume the fact, that certain resistance mechanisms, such as efflux, are neither adequately nor precisely monitored, utilizing the established microbiologic screening tools, such as agar- or microdilution techniques. In this context this paper may contribute as an innovative step, utilizing mathematic modeling in order to describe interactions on the surface of microorganisms. thus, mathematical modeling might be a tool which can be adopted to optimize the description of certain forms of bacterial resistance, as well as the influence of antibacterial drugs on such targets which interact with bacterial outer-membrane transport mechanisms. this paper presents modeling of bacterial population dynamics as an attempt to precise complex compound target interaction. Furthermore, the importance of a synergetic coupling term in the model is exemplified by comparison with experimental data of Kumar et al. [1]. A specific procedure for extraction of model coefficients is devised for further experimental studies of the coupling between an antibiotics and a helper compound. In particular, it is found that the scarce experimental data of Kumar et al. [1] can be fitted to the mathematical model demonstrating synergetic effects of non-antibiotics.

Flute mode turbulence plays an important role in numerous applications,such as tokamak,Z-pinch,space and astrophysical *** a low beta plasma flute oscillations are electrostatic and in the nonlinear stage they produce large scale density structures co-mingling with short scale *** scale structures are responsible for the enhanced transport across the magnetic field and appearance of short scales leads to ion heating,associated with the ion *** the present paper nonlinear equations which describe the nonlinear evolution of the flute modes treated as compressible electromagnetic oscillations in a finite beta inhomogeneous plasma with nonuniform magnetic field are derived and solved *** this purpose the 2D numerical code FLUtE was *** results show that even in a finite beta plasma flute mode instability can develop along with formation of large scale structures co-existing with short scale perturbations in the nonlinear stage.
