Growth of Micropropagated Solanum tuberosum *** under Artificial Solar Spectrum and Different Mono-and Polychromatic LED Lights

In agriculture,LED light sources have increasingly replaced the standard luminescent lamps and have acquired an important role in plant *** studied the effect of different light sources such as narrow-band LEDs(bright blue,blue,green,yellow,deep red,and red)and wide-band LEDs(cold white,white,warm white,full spectrum,and an artificial solar spectrum sun box constructed by us)on development of potato plantlets in *** luminescent lamps were used as a *** light intensity of 49μmol·m^(-2)·s^(-1)was provided in all light *** showed that the long-wave narrow-band light treatments were inapplicable for potato micropropagation,because plantlets were weak with small leaves,inhibited roots,and significantly elongated *** lights provided growth of shortened plantlets with large leaves,well-growing roots,and abundant green *** chlorophyll content was lower under blue and bright blue light and was at the same level in the remained *** differences in the stomatal apparatus development were observed depending on the light *** differences were not always reflected in the plantlet phenotype:e.g.,plantlets under blue and bright blue lights showed no differences in any characteristics except stomatal density and size of stomatal guard *** found no significant effect of blue light portion in the white lights and full spectrum on plantlet *** artificial solar spectrum sun box was the most suitable for potato micropropagation,because it supported the development of plantlets with good fitness,uniform internodes length,abundant roots and green mass accumulation.

Inferring Evanescent Stochastic Dynamics from Marginal Distributions

Evanescent random walks are instances of stochastic processes that terminate at a specific rate. They have proved relevant in modeling diverse behaviors of complex systems from protein degradation in gene networks(Ali and Brewster(2022), Ghusinga, et al.(2017), and Ham, et al.(2024)) and“nonprocessive” motor proteins(Kolomeisky and Fisher(2007)) to decay of diffusive radioactive matter(Zoia(2008)). The present work aims to extend a well-established estimation and control problem, the so-called Schr?dinger's bridge problem, to evanescent diffusion processes. Specifically, the authors seek the most likely law on the path space that restores consistency with two marginal densities — One is the initial probability density of the flow, and the other is a density of killed particles. The Schr?dinger's bridge problem can be interpreted as an estimation problem but also as a control problem to steer the stochastic particles so as to match specified marginals. The focus of previous work in Eldesoukey, et al.(2024) has been to tackle Schr?dinger's problem involving a constraint on the spatio-temporal density of killed particles, which the authors revisit here. The authors then expand on two related problems that instead separately constrain the temporal and the spatial marginal densities of killed *** authors derive corresponding Schr?dinger systems that contain coupled partial differential equations that solve such problems. The authors also discuss Fortet-Sinkhorn-like algorithms that can be used to construct the sought bridges numerically.

Objective:The objective of this study was to determine the level of methotrexate(MTX)toxicity in the intestines of mice and to evaluate the protective effect of probiotics composed of Streptococcus,Bifidobacterium,and Lactobacillus species on intestinal cells during MTX ***:Mice were divided into three groups:control,MTX group(received MTX injections),and MTX+probiotics group(received MTX injections along with a diet containing probiotics).Morphological and histological changes,the level of mitochondrial DNA(mtDNA)damage,the level of lipid peroxidation products,and gene expression in the mice’s small intestine were ***:We demonstrated that intraperitoneal MTX injections significantly increased mtDNA damage in the liver(pvated the quantity of lipid peroxidation products in the liver and small intestine,indicating its strong prooxidative *** induced structural changes in the mice’s intestines,characterized by leukocytic infiltration of *** therapy in mice partially mitigated the morphological and histological changes in the small intestine induced by MTX,reduced oxidative stress,and promoted increased expression of quinone oxidoreductase 1(Nqo1),which participates in both cell protection against oxidative stress and drug/xenobiotic *** prevented the upregulation of the proinflammatory cytokine IL-1b in the small intestine and induced increased expression of genes associated with the Nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2/Antioxidant response element(Nrf2/ARE)pathway,an important mechanism of cell ***:Probiotics can be considered an effective approach to reducing the toxicity of MTX during psoriasis or cancer treatment.

The purpose of this study was to examine the secretion of inflammatory cytokines by cultured monocytes/macrophages in patients with premature coronary artery disease (CAD). The study included 38 patients with premature CAD and 35 patients without CAD. A primary culture of CD14+ monocytes was obtained by immunomagnetic separation. The inflammatory response was induced by incubation of a cell culture with lipopolysaccharide (LPS) for 24 hours on Days 1 and 6. Basal and LPS-stimulated secretion of the cytokines, tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), interleukin-1β (IL-1β), interleukin-6 (IL-6), interleukin-8 (IL-8) and monocyte chemotactic protein-1 (MCP-1) was assessed by enzyme immunoassay on Days 2 and 7 of cultivation. The level of basal secretion of TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6, MCP-1 was higher in patients with CAD compared to patients in the control group. The levels of re-stimulated TNF-α secretion and the levels of LPS-stimulated and re-stimulated IL-1β secretion on the second and sixth days were also higher in patients with CAD. LPS-stimulated MCP-1 secretion on the second day did not differ in patients of both groups, but re-stimulated MCP-1 secretion was higher in patients with CAD. The results of logistic regression analysis showed that the basal secretion levels of IL-1β and IL-6 were independently associated with premature CAD, along with smoking, body mass index and serum HDL-cholesterol levels.

Polyphony of domestic dog whines and vocal cues to body size

In domestic dogs Canis familiaris,vocal traits have been investigated for barks and growls,and the relationship between individual body size and vocal traits investigated for growls,with less corre-sponding information for *** this study,we examined the frequency and temporal traits of whines of 20 adult companion dogs(9 males,11 females),ranging in body mass from 3.5 to 70.0 kg and belonging to 16 *** whines(26-71 per individual,824 in total)were recorded in condi-tioned begging contexts modeled by dog *** had 3 independent fundamental fre-quencies:the low,the high and the ultra-high that occurred singly as monophonic calls or simul-taneously as 2-voice biphonic or 3 voice polyphonic *** the smallest to largest dog,the upper frequency limit varied from 0.24 to 2.13 kHz for the low fundamental frequency,from 2.95 to 10.46 kHz for the high fundamental frequency and from 9.99 to 23.26 kHz for the ultra-high funda-mental *** individuals,the low fundamental frequency was lower in monophonic than in biphonic whines,whereas the high fundamental frequency did not differ between those whine *** frequency variables of the low,high,and ultra-high fundamental frequencies cor-related negatively with dog body *** duration,no correlation with body mass was *** discuss potential production mechanisms and sound sources for each fundamental frequency;point to the acoustic similarity between high-frequency dog whines and rodent ultrasonic calls and hypothesize that ultra-high fundamental frequencies function to allow private,"tete-a-tete"com-munication between members of social groups.

Isotopic Composition of Atmospheric Precipitation in the Cis-Ural Region

Using the Global Network of Isotopes in Precipitation(GNIP)method at three stations in the Cis-Ural region(Iskor,Perm,and Kungur),the monitoring results of the isotope composition of atmospheric precipitation conducted in 2016-2019 are *** lines of meteoric waters were obtained for each station and for the Cis-Ural region as a *** latitudinal zoning of changes in isotope parameters from north to south in the Cis-Ural region is noted,which is related to meteorological *** northern regions are characterized by isotopically light values compared to the southern ***,the correlation relationship between the isotopic compositions of atmospheric precipitation and meteorological parameters at each station is *** analysis data show that about 50%-90%of variations in the isotopic composition of precipitation within the annual cycle are determined by the air *** the same time,the amount of precipitation shows a relationship between the average strength and the isotopic composition of precipitation for a series of observations at Kungur Station;for a series of observations at Iskor and Perm stations,there is no *** in the relationship with meteorological data are explained by different sources of moisture introduction to the station and,accordingly,the formation of the isotopic composition of *** flow of moisture is controlled by the transfer of air masses in different directions,the formation of cyclones and ***,for the northern part of the region during the year is characterized by the predominance of cyclones,whereas for the southern-anticyclones.

On the winter enhancement of adaptive humoral immunity: hypothesis testing in desert hamsters (Phodopus roborovskii: Cricetidae, Rodentia) kept under long-day and short-day photoperiod

We tested the winter immunity enhancement hypothesis(WIEH)on male desert hamsters(Phodopus roborovskii)kept under long-day(LD)and short-day(SD)*** assumed that under SD in a laboratory,the adaptive humoral immune responsiveness to the antigenic challenge would be enhanced due to the lack of winter physical stressors and food shortages and/or because of the action of an endogenous winter bolstering mechanism,while under LD the immune responsiveness would be suppressed by the activity of the reproductive *** results support the WIEH in *** did not find a difference in antibody production in response to sheep erythrocytes between SD and LD hamsters,but SD males had the lower number of granulocytes and the higher number of lymphocytes in white blood cell *** activity was lower in SD *** males demonstrated an increase in their mass-specific resting metabolic rate,their mass-specific maximal metabolic rate and their level of *** result of a generalized linear model analysis indicates the negative effect on secondary immunoresponsiveness to sheep erythrocytes of mid-ventral gland size,the organ characterizing individual reproductive quality,and designates a tradeoff between antibody production and reproductive *** mass-independent maximal metabolic rate also negatively affected antibody production,indicating a tradeoff between maximal aerobic performance and the adaptive immune *** higher stress in SD males seems to be the most likely reason for the lack of the effect of daylight duration on antibody production.
