Alpha Defensins Genes and Vulvovaginal candidiasis:A Study of cases

Objective: To evaluate the alpha-defensin (α-DF) genes polymorphism in women with vulvovaginal candidiasis and recurrence. Methods: This observational study included clinical vaginal secretion samples collected over four years from 88 women, ranging in age from 18 to 65 years, from medical centers of Sao Paulo and Mogi das cruzes, Brazil. Thirty-six of these women were asymptomatic (control group) and 52 presented clinical condition compatible with vulvovaginitis (38 primary or episodic as non-recurrent forms, and 14 recurrent vulvovaginal candidiasis). A portion of each sample was plated on Sabouraud dextrose agar with chloramphenicol and grown on cHROMagar candida for presumptive characterization. The identification of the species was obtained by sequencing of the ITS1 region of rDNA. α-DF genes were amplified for subsequent evaluation of polymorphisms by endonuclease restriction assay. Results: From 88 samples were isolated 60 candida albicans and 28 non-albicans candida spp. Resistant c. albicans strains and non-albicans candida spp. were more prevalent in recurrence. In all groups, the number of resistant non-albicans candida spp. was most high than susceptible strains. α-DF1, α-DF3 and α-DF1/α-DF3 genotypes were found in 32 (36.4%), 17 (19.3%), 6 (6.8%) vaginal samples, respectively. About 33 samples were not amplified. Recurrence and severe disease were more observed in homozygous population. conclusions: Non-albicans candida spp. and homozygotic α-DF genotipes (α-DF1 and α-DF3) were more related with severe clinical signs and recurrence. Further studies about vulvovaginal candidiasis and α-DF genes are necessary to access the more comprehensive role of defensins in clinical manifestations.

In all studies that analyzed biodiesel pollution effect of this compound on animals and especially marine animals. Biodiesel (methanol and sodium hydroxide) as to be taken into account. Less emphasis is placed on biodiesel pollution of soils and waters (which can occur in the event of an environmental accident), which is considered a biodegradable product. But an accidental pollution due to the derailment of a freight train (August 12, 2020 on the cF line the Bucharest-craiova highway, in the area of the cF bridge from cârcea locality, Dolj county, Romania), confirmed the lack of knowledge in this field, as well as the way of depollution and restoration of the environment. This article describes how to pollute the soil with biodiesel, as well as the mathematical equations that describe this phenomenon.

Globally, 69.6 million individuals were infected with hepatitis c virus (HcV) infection in 2016. Of the six major HcV genotypes (GT), the most predominant one is GT1, worldwide. The prevalence of HcV in central Asia, which includes most of the commonwealth of Independent States (cIS), has been estimated to be 5.8% of the total global burden. The predominant genotype in the cIS and Ukraine regions has been reported to be GT1, followed by GT3. Inadequate HcV epidemiological data, multiple socio-economic barriers, and the lack of regionspecific guidelines have impeded the optimal management of HcV infection in this region. In this regard, a panel of regional experts in the field of hepatology convened to discuss and provide recommendations on the diagnosis, treatment, and pre-, on-, and posttreatment assessment of chronic HcV infection and to ensure the optimal use of cost-effective antiviral regimens in the region. A comprehensive evaluation of the literature along with expert recommendations for the management of GT1-GT6 HcV infection with the antiviral agents available in the region has been provided in this review. This consensus document will help guide clinical decision-making during the management of HcV infection, further optimizing treatment outcomes in these regions.

Scintigraphic evaluation of gallbladder motor functions in H pylori positive and negative patients in the stomach with dyspepsia

AIM:To evaluate the relationship between gallbladder (GB) motor function and H pylori infection in the stomach. METHODS: All cases (86) underwent the 14c urea breath test (UBT). 14c-UBT was found as positive in 58 and negative in 28 dyspeptic patients. 14c- UBT was accepted as a gold standard test. clo test and histopathologic examination were compared with the results of 14c-UBT in cases who tolerated upper gastrointestinal endoscopy procedure. cholescintigraphy with 99mTc-mebrofenin was used to determine the parameters of GB motor function (GB filling and emptying time, half of the emptying time, ejection fraction at 30th and 60th min) in all patients. RESULTS: We found the sensitivity and specificity as 88% and 86% for clo test and as 89% and 80% for histologic evaluation, respectively. The parameters of GB function were not significantly different in H pylori positive and negative patients. The GB emptying was normal in both groups. Minimum GB filling time was 30 min in 34 of 86 cases (39.5%), filling was not observed in 2 cases. The GB ultrasonography (USG) results were normal for all cases and bile composition abnormality was not ***: Our study showed that 14c-UBT is highly reliable method to detect the presence of H pylori. The presence of H pylori infection does not directly affect the GB function.

Management of Endoscopic Portal Hypertension Lesions in cirrhotic Patients in a country with Limited Resources: About 603 cases in the city of Douala in cameroon

Introduction: Portal hypertension (HTP) is a morbi-mortality factor in cirrhotic patients. It is responsible for endoscopic lesions and has digestive hemorrhage as the main complication. The objective of the study was to study the management of endoscopic lesions of portal hypertension in a country with limited resources. Methodology: This was a cross-sectional and analytical study conducted in 04 hospitals in the city of Douala, cameroon, over a period of 08 years from 1 January 2014 to 31 December 2022. Included were cirrhotic patients with viral hepatitis with endoscopic lesions of PH. The data collected were sociodemographic, clinical, paraclinical, therapeutic and evolutionary. Data analysis was done using SPSS software version 25.0. Logistic regression allowed the search for prognostic factors with a significance threshold of p Results: We included 603 patient records. They were mainly male patients (56.1%) with an average age of 47.6 ± 6.3 years. The child Pugh score was ranked B in 53.7% of cases. Digestive hemorrhage was the main complication in 66.8% of cases. We had grade 2 esophageal varices in 61.5% of cases. The main treatments were prescription of propanolol (63.3%) and ligation of esophageal varices (53.3%). The average number of ligation sessions was 2.1 ± 1.8 with an interval between sessions of 28 ± 2.8 days. Prevention of rupture of esophageal varices was secondary in 66.5% of cases (n = 452). The rate of hemorrhagic recurrence was 9.3%. Hospital mortality was 15.1%. Recurrence of hemorrhage was associated with PT conclusion: The management of HTP lesions was based on the prescription of beta-blockers and the ligation of esophageal varices. Factors associated with mortality were hemorrhagic recurrence, low PT and child Pugh c score.

Pole to Equator Temperature Gradient for coniacian Time,Late cretaceous:Oxygen and carbon Isotopic Data on the Koryak Upland and Hokkaido

The purpose of this study was to estimate the coniacian latitudinal thermal gradient in the Northern Hemisphere. Both hemipelagic （ammonoids） and benthic （brachiopods and bivalves） δ18O and δ^13c records were used. They originated from coniacian shallow-water sequences across a wide range of paleolatitudes, from the Koryak upland （northern Kamchatka, Russian Far East） in the north, to Hokkaido （Japan） in the south. Among coniacian ammonoids, both migrants from Hokkaido living in high latitudes （Kamchatka） and endemic forms dwelling in middle-low latitudes （Hokkaido） indicate seemingly close optimal growth temperatures. Nevertheless, certain differences in climatic conditions, prevailing during high-latitude coldest seasons, undoubtedly provoked growth cessation in some groups of ammonites. Our isotopic study suggests latitudinal temperature changes of only 0.12 ℃ per degree of latitude for the Northern Hemisphere in coniacian times, while the average annual temperature in North Kamchatka seems about 3.3 ℃ lower than that in Hokkaido.

Nucleoporin 88 expression in hepatitis B and c virus-related liver diseases

AIM: To investigate the expression of nucleoporin 88 (Nup88) in hepatitis B virus (HBV) and c virus (HcV)-related liver diseases. METHODS: We generated a new monoclonal Nup88 antibody to investigate the Nup88 protein expression by immunohistochemistry (IHc) in 294 paraffin-embedded liver specimens comprising all stages of hepatocellular carcinogenesis. In addition, in cell culture experiments HBV-positive (HepG2.2.15 and HB611) and HBV-negative (HepG2) hepatoma cell lines were tested for the Nup88 expression by Western-immunoblotting to test data obtained by ***: Specific Nup88 expression was found in chronic HcV hepatitis and unspecific chronic hepatitis, whereas no or very weak Nup88 expression was detected in normal liver. The Nup88 expression was markedly reduced or missing in mild chronic HBV infection and inversely correlated with HBcAg expression. Irrespective of the HBV- or HcV-status, increasing Nup88 expression was observed in cirrhosis and dysplastic nodules, and Nup88 was highly expressed in hepatocellular carcinomas. The intensity of Nup88 expression significantly increased during carcinogenesis (P correlated with dedifferentiation (P cantly downregulated in HBV-positive HepG2.2.15 (P cell lines as compared to HBV-negative HepG2 cells. cONcLUSION: Based on our immunohistochemical data, HBV and HcV are unlikely to influence the expression of Nup88 in cirrhotic and neoplastic liver tissue, but point to an interaction of HBV with the nuclear pore in chronic hepatitis. The expression of Nup88 in nonneoplastic liver tissue might reflect enhanced metabolic activity of the liver tissue. Our data strongly indicate a dichotomous role for Nup88 in non-neoplastic and neoplastic conditions of the liver.

clustered c-Fos Activation in Rat Hippocampus at the Acquisition Stage of Appetitive Instrumental Learning

To address the issue of how hippocampal neurons are involved into learning progress, we studied c-Fos expression in rat hippocampal subfields at different stages of appetitive instrumental learning. To model the first stage of learning, we pre-trained animals to approach the lever to obtain the food, and then made this behavior ineffective by not reinforcing it during the last session (“mismatch” group). Another group just acquired lever-pressing behavior at that day (“acquisition” group). Animals of the third group performed this well-trained behavior (“performance” group). The number of Fos-positive neurons in all hippocampal regions of the “mismatch” group animals was higher than in the ones of the home cage control group animals. The number of Fos-positive neurons was increased in cA1 and cA3 areas, but not in the dentate gyrus of both the “acquisition” and “performance” group animals as compared with the control group. We also found segmented c-Fos expression, which was more evident in “acquisition” group animals. Thus, our results suggest that during the first (mismatch) stage of learning hippocampal neurons are activated in an equally distributed manner. The following clustered pattern of activated cA1 neurons during the acquisition stage may reflect specialization of these neurons in respect to the specific lever-pressing behavior.

The Effect of Exogenous Phytohormones on Resistance of Wheat calluses to <i>Tilletia caries</i>(D.c.) Tul. &c. Tul.

The influence of exogenic hormones (indole-3-acetic acid (IAA), abscisic acid (ABA) and kinetin) on defense reaction of wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) calli to the bunt agent Tilletia caries (D.c.) Tul. & c. Tul. was studied. ABA and kinetin induced the oxalate oxidase activity, increased the Н2О2 level, decreased germination of fungi teliospores and induced on calli the occurrence of dense sites non-infected by pathogen. On the contrary, IAA led to the decrease of oxalate oxidase activity, loosening of calli and increase germination of bunt agent teliospores and growth of fungi mycelium, besides stimulated rhizoids formation of wheat calli. Probably, the accumulation of Н2О2 in wheat calli under the influence of kinetin and ABA connected with activity of oxalate oxidase is one of the factors increasing defense reaction of wheat to bunt agent.
