The extraction of effective components and an antioxidant activity study of Tulipa edulis

Plant extracts from natural sources are an excellent choice for food additives and natural *** this study,the active components of Tulipa edulis were extracted and analysed,and their antioxidant capacity was ***,the crude extract mixture was separated and purified using a Sephadex LH-20 gel,and the antioxidant activity of the purified products was *** umbilical vein endothelial human umbilical vein endothelial cells(HUVEC)cells were treated with 35 mmol/L glucose to construct a model of oxidative ***,the cells were treated with the active component to observe whether the products of *** could have a good protective effect on HUVEC cells induced by *** analysis was also performed on HUVEC cells after same treatment to explore the possible mechanism of the component F2 protecting HUVEC cells from oxidative stress induced by high *** results showed that component F2 obtained from *** has strong antioxidant ***,F2 can play a strong antioxidant protective role in HUVEC ***,the gene expression of heme oxygenase 1(HO-1),γ-glutamyl cysteine ligase catalytic subunit(GCLC)and NAD(P)H quinone oxidoreductase-1(NQO1)in HUVEC cells was up-regulated after treated with *** study provides reference value for the further development and application of *** and the d evelopment of functional food.

SrTi_(2)O_(5) particles were claimed by Panda et *** *** 2023;9:609 as a new lead-free ferroelectric material with orthorhombic symmetry and space group of Cmm2,being,therefore,employed as a base of piezoelectric energy ***,in this comment we express concerns regarding the presence of the piezoelectricity in the studied material and the interpretation of the structural,microstructural,and ferroelectric results in that publication as those associated with SrTi_(2)O_(5).We also note that the presented dielectric results are contradictory and that many important details are missing.

Background:The aim of the study was to evaluate the outcomes of dissatisfed patients reporting poor visual quality following implantation of multifocal intraocular lenses(MF-IOLs),managed by IOL exchange with another multifocal optical ***:This is a retrospective series of ***-IOL exchange was done in 15 dissatisfed patients(30 eyes)with the perception of poor visual quality for far distance afected by neuroadaptation *** underwent a bilateral exchange of a MF-IOL with another MF-IOL of a diferent optical *** outcomes and complications were *** including Quality of Vision(QoV),Visual Function Index-14(VF-14)and its Rasch-revised version(VF-8R)and a satisfaction questionnaire were also used for outcome ***:The mean elapsed time from implantation to explantation-reimplantation was 11.8 *** QoV scores improved signifcantly across all the three *** function improved with a change in VF-14 score from 60.41±24.81 to 90.16±10.91(P<0.001).The VF-8R score improved as *** uncorrected distance visual acuity improved from 0.24 to 0.12 logMAR after exchange(P<0.001)and corrected distance visual acuity improved from 0.15 to 0.04 logMAR(P<0.001).Safety and efcacy indexes reached 1.46 and 1.16,*** patients’satisfaction following MF-IOL exchange,80%of the patients reported they would have the MF-IOL reimplantation procedure ***:Patient dissatisfaction with neuroadaptation failure following MF-IOL implantation can be managed in 80%of our cases by MF-IOL exchange with a diferent MF-IOL optical profle.

With this contribution,as a comment to the publication in Journal of Mate rials Science&Technology 44(2020)54,reporting giant dielectric response,structural characterization and numerical simulations in Sr_(1-1.5 x)Bi_xTiO_(3)ceramics,we show that the re ported results are rather contradicting and not well analysed,while the suggested mechanism for the giant permittivity response is not valid or doubtful and has to be ***,many details and data are missing making impossible not only to call the obtained results very suitable for practical application but even to reproduce them.

Zingiber officinale extends Drosophila melanogaster life span in xenobiotic-induced oxidative stress conditions

BACKGROUND： The possibility of dietary ginger to enhance oxidative stress resistance and to extend life span was studied on Drosophila melanogaster. METHODS： Oxidative stress was induced by a reducing agent dithiothreitol. Experimental groups of male D. melanogaster were cultured on media containing： 1） no additive; 2） dithiothreitol, added into the nutritional mixture to the final concentration of 10 mM; 3） 25 mg of ginger powder g^-1 of the nutritional mixture; and 4） 10 mM ofdithiothreitol and 25 mg of ginger powder g l of the nutritional mixture. The number of alive fruit flies was inspected daily, and mean life span was determined for each experimental group. RESULTS： The addition of dithiothreitol to D. melanogaster nutritional mixture was established to result in an increase in concentration of two markers of oxidative stress conditions （thiobarbituric acid reactive substances as products of lipid peroxidation and carbonylated proteins as products of protein oxidation） in fly tissues. It was followed by significant reduction of mean life span and maximum life span of the last 10% of flies. Plant preparation, being added simultaneously with dithiothreitol, significantly diminished the negative effects of this xenobiotic. In conditions of additional stress load induced by hydrogen peroxide or high temperature, survival of insects treated with dithiothreitol on the background of ginger powder was the highest. CONCLUSIONS： Thus, the presented data give the evidence that ginger preparations can reduce oxidative stress outcomes and significantly increase the life expectancy of fruit flies in stress conditions.

In this work, for the first time, photosensitive nanostructures with alternate semiconductor and magnetic oriented nematic molecular nanolayers were obtained. The established dependency on the ordering type of kinetic and optical properties is deserving attention. For the first time, the notion of ＇rotary＇ polaron in such structures is introduced and microscopic model is created, which explains band structure transformation. The model is well coordinated with experimental optical data, which, at the same time, indicate the prospects of application of materials obtained due to the intercalation engineering for photoenergetics.

Fuzzy Tuned PID Controller for Envisioned Agricultural Manipulator

The implementation of image-based phenotyping systems has become an important aspect of crop and plant science research which has shown tremendous growth over the years. Accurate determination of features using images requires stable imaging and very precise processing. By installing a camera on a mechanical arm driven by motor, the maintenance of accuracy and stability becomes non-trivial. As per the state-of-the-art, the issue of external camera shake incurred due to vibration is a great concern in capturing accurate images, which may be induced by the driving motor of the manipulator. So, there is a requirement for a stable active controller for sufficient vibration attenuation of the manipulator. However, there are very few reports in agricultural practices which use control algorithms. Although, many control strategies have been utilized to control the vibration in manipulators associated to various applications, no control strategy with validated stability has been provided to control the vibration in such envisioned agricultural manipulator with simple low-cost hardware devices with the compensation of non-linearities. So, in this work, the combination of proportional-integral-differential(PID) control with type-2 fuzzy logic(T2-F-PID) is implemented for vibration control. The validation of the controller stability using Lyapunov analysis is established. A torsional actuator(TA) is applied for mitigating torsional vibration, which is a new contribution in the area of agricultural manipulators. Also, to prove the effectiveness of the controller, the vibration attenuation results with T2-F-PID is compared with conventional PD/PID controllers, and a type-1 fuzzy PID(T1-F-PID) controller.

Costs of resistance to fungal pathogens in genetically modified wheat

Aims Many resistance genes against fungal pathogens show costs of *** modified(GM)plants that differ in only one or a few resistance genes from control plants present ideal systems for measuring these costs in the absence of *** To assess the ecological relevance of costs of pathogen resistance,we grew individual plants of four transgenic spring wheat lines in a field trial with three pathogen levels and varied the genetic diversity of the *** Findings We found that two lines with a Pm3b transgene were more resistant to powdery mildew than their sister lines of the variety Bobwhite,whereas lines with chitinase(A9)or chitinase and glucanase(A13)transgenes were not more resistant than their mother variety ***,in the absence of the pathogen,both the GM lines of Bobwhite as well as those of Frisal performed significantly worse than their controls,***3b#1 and Pm3b#2 had 39%or 53%and A9 and A13 had 14%or 23%lower *** the presence of the pathogen,all GM lines except Pm3b#2 could increase their yields and other fitness-related traits,reaching the performance levels of the control *** Pm3b#2 seemed to have lost its phenotypic plasticity and had low performance in all *** may have been caused by very high transgene *** synergistic effects of mixing different GM lines with each other were *** might have been due to high transgene expression or the similarity between the lines regarding their resistance *** conclude that costs of resistance can be high for transgenic plants with constitutive transgene expression and that this can occur even in cases where the non-transgenic control lines are already relatively resistant,such as in our variety *** plants could only compete with conventional varieties in environments with high pathogen ***,the large variability among the GM lines,which may be due to unpredictable transgene expression,su

Double-skin façade simulation with computational fluid dynamics:A review of simulation trends,validation methods and research gaps

Dynamic simulation of a double-skin façade(DSF)with computational fluid dynamics(CFD)can be challenging due to the lack of validated models and benchmarking ***,there is a lack of consensus in the scientific community on what constitutes a successfully validated DSF *** present review study identifies simulation trends and research gaps for DSFs simulated with ***,this article presents a series of CFD simulations in which key aspects of the DSF modelling are varied:2D or 3D modelling approaches,turbulence viscosity models(TVMs),radiation models,and wall *** simulation results are compared to the empirical data(both temperature and velocity fields)of a benchmark test with laboratory-controlled boundary *** analysis shows that using the k-εRNG model with enhanced wall treatment and surface-to-surface(S2S)radiation model yields the best results for the 2D case of natural convection ***,it is shown that accounting for the velocity field in the validation process is essential to ensure the suitability of a ***,the authors advocate for the use of selected dimensionless numbers to improve the comparability of the different DSF scientific *** would also help to identify relevant experimental datasets for validation and suitable CFD simulation settings for specific DSF cases.

Acceptance Sampling Plans with Truncated Life Tests for the Length-Biased Weighted Lomax Distribution
