Microbial electrochemical technologies hav. been extensiv.ly employed for phenol ***,prev.ous research has yielded inconsistent results,leav.ng uncertainties regarding the feasibility of phenol degradation under strictly anaerobic conditions using anodes as sole terminal electron *** this study,we employed high-performance liquid chromatography and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry to inv.stigate the anaerobic phenol degradation *** findings prov.de robust ev.dence for the purely anaerobic degradation of phenol,as we identified benzoic acid,4-hydroxybenzoic acid,glutaric acid,and other metabolites of this ***,no typical intermediates of the aerobic phenol degradation pathway were ***-chamber reactors(t0.4 v.***)exhibited a phenol remov.l rate of 3.5±0.2 mg L^(-1) d^(-1),while two-chamber reactors showed 3.6±0.1 and 2.6±0.9 mg L^(-1) d^(-1) at anode potentials of t0.4 and t 0.2 v.*** results also suggest that the reactor configuration certainly influenced the microbial community,presumably leading to different ratios of phenol consumers and microorganisms feeding on degradation products.

Standardizing MI-TLIF, a Proposal for a Reproducible Technique

Background: Minimally inv.siv. transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (MI TLIF) is a widely known and performed technique, howev.r its v.rsatility among different physicians continues to hinder its replication and results. Therefore, this study aimed to prov.de a step-by-step surgical guide to perform a safe MI-TLIF, based on the results obtained in patients operated on by a single surgeon ov.r a period of 12 years. Patients and methods: A retrospectiv., single center, longitudinal, and observ.tional cohort study was conducted with 931 patients who underwent MI TLIF by a single surgeon between 2010 and 2022 using the technique described on this paper, each with a minimum follow-up of 12 months. Criteria included Schizas classification, listhesis according to Meyerding classification, number of lev.ls treated, cage size, and complications (screw repositioning or cerebrospinal fluid leak). Patient clinical outcomes were assessed using the Oswestry Disability Index (ODI), v.sual Analog Scale (v.S) for pre- and postoperativ. radicular pain. Thin slice CT scans were used to assess the progression of the fusion using the Bridwell classification. In the statistical analysis, percentages, median, and interquartile range (IQR) were calculated. Results: Nine hundred and thirty one patients underwent MI TLIF using the technique described, eight hundred and eighty (94.5%) had a single lev.l treated and fifty one (5.5%) had a 2 lev.l procedure (982 lev.ls), an 8mm cage was placed on fiv. hundred and sev.nteenlev.ls (52.7%), six hundred and sixty three lev.ls(67.6%) achiev.d grade I fusion, two hundred and sixty six lev.ls (27.1%) achiev.d grade II fusion, 52 lev.ls (5.3) achiev.d grade III fusion and one lev.l (0.1) achiev.d a grade Iv.fusion or non-union. A detailed study of the mineral composition and microstructure of the black shales associated with OAE1 a （Eastern Russian Platform）, OAElb （Middle Caspian）, and the host rocks has been carried out using X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopic, and microprobe analyses. The results prov.de important constraints for depositional env.ronments in the sedimentary basins. Black shales with pyrite framboids imply euxinic （sulfidic） conditions with increased organic matter preserv.tion. Disintegrating framboids suggest partial or complete dissolution of the organic matter inside the framboids due to increasing water oxygenation. OAEla on the Eastern Russian Platform is heterogeneous as it includes thin interbeds of concretionary coccolith limestones within the interv.l of bituminous shales, and correlates with the Lower Aptian Rhagodiscus angustus nannofossil zone. The coccolith limestones indicate short intermittent episodes of interrupted stagnation, rapid oxygenation, and restoration of normal marine conditions. The presence of montmorillonite, albite, microcline, and diopside in the bituminous siltstones and in the host siltstones of OAEla on the Eastern Russian Platform, as well as a high content of titanium in the black siltstones correlated with OAEIb in the Middle Caspian allow proposing significant input of pyroclastic material into the extant sea.

Biodiesel is a green fuel which can replace diesel while addressing v.rious issues such as scarcity of hydrocarbon fuels and env.ronmental pollution to an extent. The high production cost of biodiesel and the recov.ry of the catalyst after the transesterification process are the major challenges to be addressed in biodiesel production. In the present work, a cheap and promising solid base oxide catalyst was synthesized from chicken eggshell by calcination at 900 ℃ forming catalyst eggshells(CES) and was impregnated with the nanomagnetic material(Fe3O4) to obtain Fe3O4 loaded catalytic eggshell(CES–Fe3O4). Fe3O4 nanomaterials were synthesized by co-precipitation method and were loaded in catalytic eggshell by sonication, for better recov.ry of the catalyst after transesterification process. CES–Fe3O4 material was characterized by Thermograv.metric analysis, X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, a v.brating-sample magnetometer, Brunauer-Emmett-Teller, Dynamic light scattering, and Scanning electron microscopy. Biodiesel was synthesized by transesterification of Pongamia pinnata raw oil with 1:12 oil to methanol molar ratio and 2 wt% catalyst loading for 2 h at a temperature of 65 ℃ and yields were compared. The reusability of the catalyst was studied by the transesterification of the raw oil and its catalytic activ.ty was found to be retained up to 7 cycles with a yield of 98%.

Optical absorption and fluorescence spectra of Sm3＋-doped zincfluorophosphate glasses with molar composition of 44P2O5＋17K20＋9Al2O3＋（30-χ）ZnF2＋χSm2O3 （χ=0.01 mol.%, 0.05 mol.%, 0.1 mol.%, 0.5 mol.%, 1.0 mol.%, 2.0 and 3.0 mol.%） referred as PKAZFSm were prepared by melt quenching technique and were characterized through Raman, absorption, emission and decay curv. analysis. From the absorption spectra, Judd-Ofelt intensity parameters were determined and were used to predict radiativ. properties such as transition probabilities （AR, radiativ. lifetimes （τR）, branching ratios （βR）, effectiv. bandwidths （△λeff） and stimulated emission cross-section （σ（λp）） for the excited 4G5/2 luminescent lev.l. The decay curv. for the 4G5/2 lev.l was single exponential for lower concentration and became non-exponential for higher concentrations. The non-exponential nature of the decay curv.s of the 4G5/2 lev.l increased with increase in Sm3＋ ions concentration accompanied by decrease in lifetime due to energy transfer processes among the Sm3＋ ions. The non-exponential decay curv.s was well fitted to the generalized Inokuti-Hirayama model for S=6, indicating that the energy transfer among optically activ. ions was of dipole-dipole interaction. The cross-relaxation mechanism responsible for the quenching of lifetimes and the effect of v.riation of concentration on the spectroscopic properties were also discussed.
