Ever since Derrida＇s appropriation of Walter Benjamin＇s ＂The Task of the Translator,＂ and the deconstruction of the traditional notion of translation as an unequivocal communication of meaning, ＂translation＂ has become a powerful conceptual means in many fields of the humanities to underscore the agency of the subalterns in the context of colonialism, imperialism, or globalization, and to emphasize historical contingency over against necessity. As a matter of consequence, however, the question of the historically specific condition of the possibility of such ＂translation＂ has been largely neglected. In this essay I will argue, that a profound understanding of the processes of social and cultural transformation, which have been conceptualized in terms of ＂translation,＂ can not be achieved unless global capitalism and its specific temporal dynamics are taken into consideration more seriously. Finally, this approach will also enable us to re-read Benjamin, and to reassess the significance of his ＂Task＂ for a more powerful critique of a social formation, ＂which produces commodities.＂

The Upper Cretaceous(early Cenomanian)Bahariya Formation of Egypt has an outstanding reputation for its wealth of vertebrate remains,including a variety of iconic dinosaurs,like the carnivorous Spinosaurus and Carcharodontosaurus,as well as the herbivorous Aegyptosaurus and *** these dinosaur fossils,the Bahariya Formation yielded also a wealth of invertebrate and plant remains,but even today many aspects concerning the continental palaeoenvironments reflected in these deposits(including the occurrence of palaeo-wildfires)have not been studied in *** far six distinct macro-charcoal bearing levels could be identified within the type section of the Bahariya Formation at Gabal El Dist profile,one of the most prolific outcrops of this formation in terms of fossil occurrence located in the north of the Bahariya Oasis,Western Desert,*** of the charcoal investigated by means of SEM originates from ferns,poi.ting to a considerable proportion of this plant group within the palaeo-ecosystems that experienced *** and(putative)angiosperms have less frequently been *** collected data present evidence that the landscapes at the northern shores of Gondwana repeatedly experienced palaeo-wildfires,adding extra proof to previous statements that the Late Cretaceous was a fiery world on a global scale.

Exenatide is the first approved glucagon-like peptide 1 receptor agonist subcutaneously or intramuscularly injected for the treatment of type 2 diabetes *** therapeutic plasma concentrations are in the low pg/mL range,therefore requiring ultra-sensitive *** enable the accurate evaluation of pharmacokinetic studies,we established a UPLC-MS/MS assay with a lower limit of quantification(LLOQ)of 5 pg/mL(1.2 pM)using 200μL of plasma,validated acco rding to FDA's and EMA's pertinent *** was isolated from plasma with solid phase extraction utilizing anionexchange *** was performed with positive electrospray ionization tandem mass spectrometry in the selected reaction monitoring *** calibrated concentration range of 5-10,000 pg/mL was linear showing co rrelation coefficients>*** and intraday accuracy ranged from 97.5%to 105.4%with corre sponding precision of<10.9%.Accuracy at the LLOQ ranged from 93.0%to 102.5%with corresponding precision of<15.9%.Because of the validity of a 10-fold dilution QC(accuracy 111.2%),the assay is suitable for exenatide quantification up to 100,000 pg/*** ultra-sensitive assay's applicability was demonstrated by the quantification of exenatide plasma concentrations and pharmacokinetics after intravenous and nasal administration to beagle dogs.

Palaeobotanical and biomarker evidence for Early Permian(Artinskian) wildfire in the Rajmahal Basin, India

This study provides a combined analysis on the palynology, fossil charcoal and biomarkers of the subsurface coal deposits from a borehole RMB #2 drilled at the Dhulia Coal Block, Rajmahal Basin, India, in attempts to establish the chronology of sedimentation and to propose palaeobotanical as well as geochemical evidence for the occurrence of wildfires in these sediments. The palynological investigation suggests a Scheuringipollenites barakarensis palynoassemblage from the lower Barakar Formation, dated as Artinskian(Early Permian) in age. This assemblage reveals the dominance of Glossopteridales and sub-dominance of taxa belonging to Cordaitales and *** charcoal in sediments is usually recognized as a direct indicator for the occurrence of palaeo-wildfires. More data involving the anatomical features of fossil charcoal analyzed by Field Emission Scanning Electronic Microscope broaden our knowledge on Early Permian wildfires from the peninsula of India. The studied macroscopic charcoal fragments exhibit anatomical details such as homogenized cell walls, uniseriate simple and biseriate alternate pitting on tracheid walls and rays of varying heights poi.ting to a gymnospermous wood affinitity. The excellent preservation of charcoal fragments, shown by their large sizes and almost unabraded edges, suggests a parautochthonous origin. The embedded biomarker study performed for charcoal sediments and its characterization demonstrate the presence of n-alkanes, isoprenoi.s, terpenoi.s and aromatic compounds. A bimodal distribution pattern of n-alkanes with a Cmaxat n-C25 is identified. Diterpenoi.s and pentacyclic terpenoi.s are identified, indicating the input of an early conifer vegetation and bacterial activity, respectively. The identified polyaromatic hydrocarbon(PAH) compounds, together with the charcoal fragments, clearly suggest that repeated wildfire events occurred during the deposition of these Artinskian sediments in the Rajmahal Basin.

Computer-aided texture analysis combined with experts' knowledge: Improving endoscopic celiac disease diagnosis

AIM: To further improve the endoscopic detection of intestinal mucosa alterations due to celiac disease(CD).METHODS: We assessed a hybrid approach based on the integration of expert knowledge into the computerbased classification pipeline. A total of 2835 endoscopic images from the duodenum were recorded in 290 children using the modified immersion technique(MIT). These children underwent routine upper endoscopy for suspected CD or non-celiac upper abdominal symptoms between August 2008 and December 2014. Blinded to the clinical data and biopsy results, three medical experts visually classified each image as normal mucosa(Marsh-0) or villous atrophy(Marsh-3). The experts' decisions were further integrated into state-of-the-arttexture recognition systems. Using the biopsy results as the reference standard, the classification accuracies of this hybrid approach were compared to the experts' diagnoses in 27 different ***: Compared to the experts' diagnoses, in 24 of 27 classification settings(consisting of three imaging modalities, three endoscopists and three classification approaches), the best overall classification accuracies were obtained with the new hybrid approach. In 17 of 24 classification settings, the improvements achieved with the hybrid approach were statistically significant(P < 0.05). Using the hybrid approach classification accuracies between 94% and 100% were obtained. Whereas the improvements are only moderate in the case of the most experienced expert, the results of the less experienced expert could be improved significantly in 17 out of 18 classification settings. Furthermore, the lowest classification accuracy, based on the combination of one database and one specific expert, could be improved from 80% to 95%(P < 0.001).CONCLUSION: The overall classification performance of medical experts, especially less experienced experts, can be boosted significantly by integrating expert knowledge into computer-aided diagnosis systems.

Long-term survival after pancreaticoduodenectomy in patients with ductal adenocarcinoma of the pancreatic head

Background: Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma(PDAC) has the worst prognosis of all malignant tumors due to unavailable screening methods, late diagnosis with a low proportion of resectable tumors and resistance to systemic treatment. Complete tumor resection remains the cornerstone of modern multimodal strategies aiming at long-term survival. This study was performed to investigate the overall rate of long-term survival(LTS) and its contributing factors. Methods: This was a retrospective single-center analysis of consecutive patients undergoi.g pancreaticoduodenectomy(PD) for PDAC between 2007 and 2014 at the St. Josef Hospital, Ruhr University Bochum, Germany. Clinical and laboratory parameters were assessed and evaluated for prediction of LTS with Cox regression analysis. Results: The overall rate of LTS after PD for PDAC was 20.4%(34/167). Median survival was 24 months regardless of adjuvant treatment. Carbohydrate antigen 19-9 levels, tumor grade, lymph vessel invasion, perineural invasion and reduced general condition were significantly associated with LTS in univariate analysis( Poi.t Committee on Cancer stage, tumor grade, abdominal pain, male, exocrine pancreatic insufficiency and duration of postoperative hospital stay were independent predictors of cancer survival in multivariable analysis. Conclusions: Cancer related characteristics are associated with LTS in multimodally treated patients after curative PDAC surgery.
