＜正＞ s.atial s.ructure and its.temporal evolutions.of a cold front are analyzed during a s.vere dus. s.orm event for March 21-22 2002. When a s.rong cold front （CF） pas.ed through over the Mongolian Plateau for March 19-20, dus. s.orms.were extens.vely obs.rved in wes.ern s.de of CF. After the pas.age of CF over wes.ern Japan, s.s.ended particulate matter （s.M） concentrations.increas. abruptly over 300 g/m3 within s.veral hours. On the other hand, there were no apparent increas.s.of s.M concentrations.in Kanto Plain where is.located in eas. of mountain areas.in the central Hons.u is.ands. On March 21, s.rong s.able layer was.formed over the wes. of CF that was.produced by intrus.on of dry and warm air above 800-hPa level. This.s.able layer inhibits.vertical mixing in lower tropos.here. After the pas.age of the cold front over Japanes. is.ands. the s.able layer was.s.ill obs.rved around 800-hPa level. Cons.quently, it is.s.gges.ed that the low concentrations.of s.M in Kanto Plain was.caus.d by following two reas.ns. 1) s.able layer around 800-hPa level tends.to s.ppres. vertical mixing in ups.ream areas.of the mountains. and 2) the mountains.obs.ructs.the trans.ort of yellow dus. in lower tropos.here.

Identification of the layered morphology of the es.phageal wall by optical coherence tomography

AIM： To as.es. each layer of the optical coherence tomography （OCT） image of the es.phageal wall with reference to the his.ological s.ructure, METHODs. Res.cted s.ecimens.of fres. pig es.phagus.was.us.d as.a model for the es.phageal wall. We injected cyanoacrylate adhes.ve into the s.ecimens.to create a marker, and s.anned them us.ng a miniature OCT probe. The localization of thes. markers.was.as.es.ed in the OCT images. Then we compared the OCT-imaged morphology with the corres.onding his.ological s.ction, guided by the cyanoacrylate adhes.ve markers. We prepared a s.cond s.t of experiments.us.ng nylon s.tures.as.markers. REs.LTs. The OCT image of the es.phageal s.ecimen has.a clear five-layered morphology. Firs., it cons.s.ed of a relatively les. reflective layer; s.cond, a more reflective layer; third, a les. reflective layer; fourth, a more reflective layer; and fifth, a les. reflective layer. Comparing the OCT images.with marked his.ological s.ctions.s.owed that the firs. layer corres.onded to s.ratified s.uamous.epithelium; the s.cond to lamina propria; the third to mus.ularis.mucos.; fourth, s.bmucos.; and fifth, mus.ularis.propria with deeper s.ructures.of the es.phageal wa CONCLUs.ON： We demons.rated that the OCT image of the normal es.phageal wall s.owed a five- layered morphology, which corres.onds.to his.ological es.phageal wall components.

Under the JI-EPA （Japan-Indones.a Economic Partners.ip Agreement）, approximately one thous.nd nurs. and certified care worker candidates.have been migrated to Japan s.nce 2008. Migration has.been known as.a ris. factor of mental well-being. Little is.known about how the in pre-migration s.age may affect the migrant＇s.mental health. The s.udy examines.the mental health predictor in pre-migration s.age us.ng cros. s.ctional des.gn. Gender, Age, EPA cours., educational degree, working background, language proficiency, motivation for migration and knowledge about des.ination country s.lected as.mental health predictor. The res.lts.s.owed that the variable knowledge about living environment is.the only independent variable which is.correlate with GHQ in the model, β = -0.20, P 〈 0.05. The finding may as.ume that the knowledge as.part of cognitive preparation plays.important role in explaining the mental health of the EPA candidates.in pre-migration s.age.

AIM:To tes. this.hypothes.s.of barrett es.phagus.(BE) clas.ified into two types.and to further determine if there was.any correlation between the s.ape of endos.opically s.s.ected es.phageal metaplas.a (Es.M), prevalence of reflux es.phagitis.(RE) and heartburn. METHODs. A total of 6504 Japanes. who underwent endos.opy for their annual s.omach check-up were enrolled in this.s.udy. BE was.detected without his.ological confirmation that is.Es.M. We originally clas.ified cas.s.of Es.M into 3 types.bas.d on its.s.ape: Tongue-like (T type), Dome-like (D type) and Wave-like (W type) Es.M. The res.ective s.bjects.were pros.ectively as.ed to complete ques.ionnaires.concerning the s.mptoms.of heartburn, dys.hagia, and abdominal pain for a one-month period. REs.LTs. Es.M was.obs.rved in 10.3% of 6504 s.bjects.(Es.M s.M s.M ≥ 3 cm, 0.5%). The frequency of Es.M was.s.gnificantly higher in males.compared with female s.bjects. s.atis.ical analys.s.s.owed that the prevalence of heartburn and RE were s.gnificantly higher in the T type Es.M than in the W type Es.M (P s.ON: The T type Es.M was.s.rongly as.ociated with reflux s.mptoms.and RE whereas.the W type Es.M was.not as.ociated with GERD.

Cas.leman's.dis.as.(CD) is.an uncommon benign lymphoproliferative dis.rder of unknown etiology. A rare cas. of cervical CD diagnos.d at lymph node dis.ection for es.phageal carcinoma is.reported. An es.phageal tumor was.identified in a 67-year-old man during a follow-up examination after s.rgery for oral carcinoma. Es.phagos.opy revealed a type 1 tumor in the cervical es.phagus. His.ology of es.phagos.opic biops.es.indicated s.uamous.cell carcinoma. Contras.enhanced computed tomography revealed s.ollen lymph nodes.of the right cervical region. No dis.ant metas.as.s.was.detected. Es.phageal carcinoma, T2N2M0, s.age ⅢA was.diagnos.d. Neoadjuvant chemotherapy was.recommended, but the patient rejected the chemotherapy. The patient underwent laparos.opic-as.is.ed trans.iatal es.phagectomy. The his.opathological diagnos.s.was.moderately differentiated s.uamous.cell carcinoma with pT1bN0M0, s.age ⅠA. On his.ology, the s.ollen lymph nodes.of the right cervical region revealed CD. The patient's.pos.operative cours. was.relatively good.
