单侧弥散性亚急性视神经视网膜炎患者口服阿苯达唑治疗的临床特点及疗效

PURPoSE: To investigate the clinical features,visual function outcomes, and adverse events in patients with diffuse unilateral subacute neuroretinitis (DUSN) treated with high-dose oral albendazole. DESIGN: Interventional case series. METHoDS: Twelve Brazilian patients, aged 7 through 36 years, with active DUSN in the early or late clinical stage, were recruited for this study between 1999 and 2001. A small variantmotile worm was found in 4 (33.3% ) of these cases. All patients were treated exclusively with high-dose oral albendazole (400 mg/d) for 30 days. RESULTS: Improvement of visual acuity, visual field, and active ocular in flammatory signs was observed in all patients after 4 weeks of treatment (median follow-up: 3 years). Also, during the first weeks of treatment, evidence of worm inactivation was documented for the four patients with visible *** adverse drug side effects were observed in any of our cases during follow-up. coNcLUSIoN: High-dose oral albendazole seems to be safe and beneficial for patients with DUSN.

over the last decade,the oriented strand board(oSB)market presented meaningful ***,as a woodbased product,because of its anatomical structure and chemical composition,oSB can be damaged by biodeterioration *** that,the biodeterioration of oSB panels must be investigated to improve its *** this way,this work analyses the biological resistance against termites(cryptotermes brevis and Nasutitermes corniger)of heat-treated oSB panels made with Eucalyptus wood glued with vegetable-based polyurethane-an ecofriendly and sustainable adhesive derived from castor *** panels were produced with different layers compositions(face:core:face of 25:50:25 and 30:40:30)in wood mass proportion and were submitted to postproduction heat treatment(at 175℃ and 200℃)replacing the use of chemical *** influence of the layers variation and heat treatment temperature were evaluated,and these results were compared with commercial panels(made from pinus wood with insecticide).The results showed that the heat treatment did not improve the resistance against termite ***,all the experimental panels presented a satisfactory performance that was compatible with the commercial panels produced with insecticide available in the Brazilian *** combination of Eucalyptus wood and castor oil adhesive to produce oSB,in any variation of layer composition,demonstrated natural resistance against termite attack compatible with the commercial panels,even without using chemical additives to increase durability.

Partial characterization of chitinolytic Extract from Endophytic Streptomyces sp. and Its Effects on the Boll Weevil

The present study achieves the biochemistry partial characterization of the chitinolytic extract produced by an endophytic Streptomyces sp. strain （A8）. This extract was also tested against Anthonomus grandis, the cotton boll weevil aiming its control. The chitinase crude extract from the A8 strain was cultured for five days in a minimum liquid media supplemented with chitin. The extract was partially characterized by standard methods. The chitinolytic extract had an optimum temperature of 66 ＂c and an optimum pH between 4 to 9 （around 80% of relative activity）. We also characterized the temperature and pH stability and measured the effects of enzyme inhibitors. The filtered chitinolytic extract was added to an artificial boll weevil diet. Boll weevil development from the egg stage to the adult stage was prolonged, and the percentage of adults that emerged was approximately 66% less than on control diet. This study showed that *** development of A. grandis was inhibited by the presence of characterized chitinolytic extract in artificial diet. This work provides an experimental basis for using the chitinase from an endophytic bacterium Streptomyces sp. as a biocontrol alternativeto controlling the plant pest A. grandis.
