Inflammatory responses in esophageal mucosa before and after laparoscopic antireflux surgery

Antimicrobial resistance(AMR)poses a critical threat to global health and development,with environmental factors—particularly in urban areas—contributing significantly to the spread of antibiotic resistance genes(ARGs).however,most research to date has been conducted at a local level,leaving significant gaps in our understanding of the global status of antibiotic resistance in urban *** address this issue,we thoroughly analyzed a total of 86,213 ARGs detected within 4,728 metagenome samples,which were collected by the Meta SUB International Consortium involving diverse urban environments in 60 cities of 27 countries,utilizing a deep-learning based *** findings demonstrated the strong geographical specificity of urban environmental resistome,and their correlation with various local socioeconomic and medical *** also identified distinctive evolutionary patterns of ARG-related biosynthetic gene clusters(BGCs)across different countries,and discovered that the urban environment represents a rich source of novel *** study provides a comprehensive overview of the global urban environmental resistome,and fills a significant gap in our knowledge of large-scale urban antibiotic resistome analysis.

Synthesis of Zinc Oxide Nanostructures on Graphene/Glass Substrate via Electrochemical Deposition: Effects of Potassium Chloride and hexamethylenetetramine as Supporting Reagents

The effects of the supporting reagents hexamethylenetetramine(hMTA)and potassium chloride(KCl)mixed in zinc nitrate hexahydrate(Zn(NO3)2 6h2O)on the morphological,structural,and optical properties of the resulting Zn O nanostructures electrodeposited on graphene/glass substrates were *** supporting reagent hMTA does not increase the density of nanorods,but it does remarkably improve the smoothness of the top edge surfaces and the hexagonal shape of the nanorods even at a low temperature of 75°***(Oh-)ions from the hMTA suppress the sidewall growth of non-polar planes and promote the growth of Zn O on the polar plane to produce vertically aligned nanorods along the c *** contrast,the highly electronegative chlorine(Cl-)ions from the supporting reagent KCl suppress the growth of Zn O on the polar plane and promote the growth on non-polar planes to produce vertical stacking nanowall *** was found to be able to significantly improve the crystallinity of the grown Zn O structures,as indicated by the observation of much lower FWhM values and a higher intensity ratio of the emission in the UV region to the emission in the visible *** mixtures of Zn(NO3)2 6h2O and the supporting reagents hMTA and KCl seem to provide the optimum ratio of concentrations for the growth of high-density,uniform Zn O *** corresponding transmittances for such molar ranges are approximately 55–58%(hMTA)and 63–70%(KCl),which are acceptable for solar cell and optoelectronic devices.

Deposition behavior and tribological properties of diamond-like carbon coatings on stainless steels via chemical vapor deposition

A systematic investigation was carried out to observe the deposition rate of a diamond-like carbon(DLC) coating on two stainless steel substrates by chemical vapor deposition(CVD). The objective of this research is to study the deposition behavior of the DLC coating and its tribological properties in different combinations of methane(Ch_4) and nitrogen, which were used as precursor gases. The results reveal that the deposition rate increases with increasing Ch_4 content up to 50 vol%. The hardness of the DLC-deposited layer also increases while the friction coefficient decreases with increasing Ch_4 gas content up to 50% in the precursor gas mixture.

The discharge of industrial effluent containing heavy metal ions would cause water pollution if such effluent is not properly *** this work,the performance of emerging nanofiltration(NF)like-forward osmosis(FO)membrane was evaluated for its efficiency to remove copper ion from ***,copper ion is removed from aqueous solution via adsorption and/or ion-exchange *** engineered osmosis method as proposed in this work considered four commercial NF membranes(i.e.,NF90,DK,NDX and PFO)where their separation performances were accessed using synthetic water sample containing 100 mg·L-1 copper ion under FO and pressure retarded osmosis(PRO)*** findings indicated that all membranes could achieve almost complete removal of copper regardless of membrane orientation without applying external driving *** high removal rates were in good agreement with the outcomes of the membranes tested under pressuredriven mode at 1 *** use of appropriate salts as draw solutes enabled the NF membranes to be employed in engineered osmosis process,achieving a relatively low reverse solute *** findings showed that the best performing membrane is PFO membrane in which it achieved N 99.4%copper rejection with very minimum reverse solute flux ofh-1.

Effect of reduction roasting by using bio-char derived from empty fruit bunch on the magnetic properties of Malaysian iron ore

Beneficiation of Malaysian iron ore is becoming necessary as iron resources are depleting. however, the upgrading process is challenging because of the weak magnetic properties of Malaysian iron ore. In this study, bio-char derived from oil palm empty fruit bunch （EFB） was utilized as an energy source for reduction roasting. Mixtures of Malaysian iron ore and the bio-char were pressed into briquettes and subjected to reduction roasting processes at 873-1173 K. The extent of reduction was estimated on the basis of mass loss, and the mag-netization of samples was measured using a vibrating sample magnetometer （VSM）. When reduced at 873 K, the original goethite-rich ore was converted into hematite. An increase in temperature to 1073 K caused a significant conversion of hematite into magnetite and enhanced the magnetic susceptibility and saturation magnetization of samples. The magnetic properties diminished at 1173 K as the iron ore was par-tially reduced to wustite. This reduction roasting by using the bio-char can assist in upgrading the iron ore by improving its magnetic proper-ties

Comparison of multichannel intraluminal impedance-ph monitoring and reflux scintigraphy in pediatric patients with suspected gastroesophageal reflux

AIM To evaluate the agreement of multichannel intraluminal impedance-p h monitoring(MII-p hM) and gastroesophageal reflux scintigraphy(GES) for the diagnosis of gastroesophageal reflux disease. METhODS Seventy-five consecutive patients with suspectedgastroesophageal reflux disease(GERD) underwent 24-h combined MII-p hM recording and one hour radionuclide scintigraphy during the course of the MIIph M study. Catheters with 6 impedance channels and 1 p h sensor were placed transnasally. Impedance and p h data analysis were performed automatically and manually. For impedance monitoring, reflux was defined as a retrograde 50% drop in impedance, starting distally and propagating retrogradely to at least the next two more proximal measuring channels. Reflux index(RI, percentage of the entire record that esophageal p h is han 4.2% for p hM and number of refluxes more than 50 for 24 h for MII were accepted as positive test results. At scintigraphy, 240 frames of 15 seconds duration were acquired in the supine position. Gastroesophageal reflux was defined as at least one reflux episode in the esophagus. After scintigraphic evaluation, impedance-ph recordings and scintigraphic images were evaluated together and agreement between tests were evaluated with Cohen's *** Sufficient data was obtained from 60(80%) patients(34 male, 56.7%) with a mean age of 8.7 ± 3.7 years(range: 2.5-17.3 years; median: 8.5 years). Chronic cough, nausea, regurgitation and vomiting were the most frequent symptoms. The mean time for recording of MII-ph M was 22.8 ± 2.4 h(range: 16-30 h; median: 22.7 h). At least one test was positive in 57(95%) patients. According to diagnostic criteria, GERD was diagnosed in 34(57.7%), 44(73.3%), 47(78.3%) and 51(85%) patients by means of p hM, MII, GES and MII-p hM, respectively. The observed percentage agreements/κ values for GES and p hM, GES and MII, GES and MII-p hM, and MII and p hM are 48.3%/-0.118; 61.7%/-0.042; 73.3%/0.116 and 60%/0.

Preparation of PLGA-collagen hybrid scaffolds with controlled pore structures for cartilage tissue engineering

Scaffolds used for cartilage tissue engineering should have high mechanical strength and well-controlled pore structure to provide suitable microenvironments for functional tissue regeneration. In this study, hybrid scaffolds which had open and interconnected pore structure and high mechanical property were prepared by hybridization of PLGA mesh and collagen using ice particulates as porogen templates. Embossing ice particulates template was used to form open pore structures on the scaffold surfaces. Free ice particulates were used to generate interconnected bulk pores in the scaffolds. hybridization with PLGA mesh provided the scaffolds with high mechanical property. Bovine articular chondrocytes were cultured in the hybrid scaffolds. The unique pore structures facilitated the homogeneous distribution of chondrocytes and cartilaginous matrices throughout the scaffolds. Subcutaneous implantation demonstrated cartilage-like tissue regeneration. The hybrid scaffolds should have a high potential for cartilage tissue engineering.
