Down Protein C and S Antigen Could Be Predictor of Mortality Outcome in Critical Egyptian COVID-19 Illness

Background: One of the most serious morbidity and mortality features in COVID-19 is thrombo-embolic manifestation with disturbed hemostasis in natural anticoagulant. Protein S plays a critical role in cytokine storming and acts as cross talk between immune status and coagulation process. So, we aimed to address its role in addition to protein C in severity and outcome of disease, with its role in vaccinated people by AstraZeneca. Methods: The present study was conducted on 70 COVID-19 positive by real-time PCR. 40 of patients had moderate symptoms of respiratory, 30 cases were admitted into ICU of Mansoura University Hospital, some of them under mechanical ventilator. In addition to 40 healthy volunteers after first dose of vaccinated AstraZenka as reference, assessment of protein C&S antigen was done by ELIZA. Results: Significant increase in total leucocytic count in COVID-19 than vaccinated volunteer with significant reduction in absolute lymphocytosis, increased neutrophilia. First significant observation was higher MPV in COVID-19 than vaccinated, in addition to significantly higher C-reactive protein in severe cases than moderate and vaccinated. Prominent interesting finding in our study was significant reduction in Protein C&S in severe cases than moderate and vaccinated. Logistic regression analysis revealed that both could be predictor of mortality outcome as CRP in COVID-19 illness. Conclusion: There was significant reduction in protein C&S in severe cases than moderate and vaccinated. Regression analysis shows that could be predictor of mortality as well as CRP, D-dimer. Large extended study and follow up are needed to assess the incidence of thromboembolism and role of protein C&S in different variety protocols of vaccination programs.

Perspectives and Challenges of Italian Catalogue of Herbage Varieties

In Mediterranean countries forage crops and temporary grasslands are the most important supply even if severe moisture stress is common. In Italy, forage systems are various and differently located from North to South of the mainland due to strong influence by rainfall distribution. Grasses and grazing cover 3.4 million ha of Italian utilized agricultural area （UAA） while alternated grassland and grass meadows cover 1.9 million ha. Most of grasslands are located in hilly and mountainous areas and are important for reducing erosion. Italy has a great longitudinal extension which accounts for a great variety of climate systems and soils： the northern regions have a humid subtropical climate and differ greatly from the south part that fits the Mediterranean climate profile. During the last 100/150 years the Italian climate has become warmer and drier showing an increase of erratic precipitation intensity. The future of breeding of forage grasses and legumes should be focused on higher nutrient use efficiencies and increased sustainability. New applications of genomics and bioinformatics will allow advanced breeding strategies. Over the past 15 years breeders have displayed a constant interest in forage species while a greater interest has risen in turfgrass varieties. Seed production of Italian herbages does not cover the requirements of the market. More specific value for cultivation and use （VCU） tests might be an effective means to improve the screening of candidate varieties. The goal is the selection of varieties able to withstand the stress of climate change, have better water and nitrogen use efficiency and resilience of vegetation cover.

The purpose of this research is to study the effect of thermal conditions such as temperature ramp rate and isothermal times in the phase formation of Pb(Zr1-xTix)O3 solid solutions with composition near the morphotropic phase boundary (MPB) by using the conventional ceramic method. The perovskite phase formation and morphology of undoped Pb(Zr0.52Ti0.48)O3 (abbreviated PZT) and doped new material Pb0.98Gd0.02[(Zr0.52Ti0.48)0.98(Mg1/3Nb2/3)0.01(Ni1/3Sb2/3)0.01]O3 (abbreviated PZT-PGMNNS) specimens calcined between 700°C and 900°C have been examined by powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) while the thermal evolution of the initial precursor was followed by TG-DTA. So the results of these studies have been discussed.

Generalized Electromagnetic Pollution Monitoring Using WSN

Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) have recently become one of the major research areas in the wireless communication field and are implemented in a variety of applications. One of these applications that will be tackled in this paper is monitoring electromagnetic (EM) pollution that is mostly caused by a variety of wireless devices that we use in our daily life. This paper presents a generic algorithm that uses a WSN to monitor EM hazardous emissions and reports variation caused by four violators. Additionally it calculates the network’s lifetime and simultaneously studies the effect of random parameters and their distributions on the network. Finally the different combinations of the random parameters and the altered distributions are compared together to achieve the combination that can prolong the network’s lifetime.

Emerging evidence has suggested that cytoreductive prostatectomy （CRP） allows superior oncologic control when compared to current standard of care androgen deprivation therapy alone. However, the safety and benefit of cytoreduction in metastatic prostate cancer （mPCa） has not been proven. Therefore, we evaluated the incidence of complications following CRP in men newly diagnosed with mPCa. A total of 68 patients who underwent CRP from 2006 to 2014 at four tertiary surgical centers were compared to 598 men who underwent radical prostatectomy for clinically localized prostate cancer （PCa）. Urinary incontinence was defined as the use of any pad. CRP had longer operative times （200 min vs 140 min, P 〈 0.0001） and higher estimated blood loss （250 ml vs 125 ml, P 〈 0.0001） compared to the control group. However, both overall （8.82% vs 5.85%） and major complication rates （4.41% vs 2.17%） were comparable between the two groups. Importantly, urinary incontinence rate at 1-year after surgery was significantly higher in the CRP group （57.4% vs 90.8%, P 〈 0.0001）. Univariate logistic analysis showed that the estimated blood loss was the only independent predictor of perioperative complications both in the unadjusted model （OR： 1.18; 95% Ch 1.02-1.37; P= 0.025） and surgery type-adjusted model （OR： 1.17; 95% Ch 1.01-1.36; P= 0.034）. In conclusion, CRP is more challenging than radical prostatectomy and associated with a notably higher incidence of urinary incontinence. Nevertheless, CRP is a technically feasible and safe surgery for selecting PCa patients who present with node-positive or bony metastasis when performed by experienced surgeons. A prospective, multi-institutional clinical trial is currently underway to verify this concept.

Meiotic behavior and pollinic viability in bean cultivars

The aims of this study were to determine the meiotic behavior and to estimate pollen grains via-bility in bean(Phaseolus vulgaris L.)*** buds were collected during different developmental stages of the Mesoamerican bean cultivars IAPAR 44,Guapo Brilhante,BRS Expedito,BRS Valente,Guateian 6662 and Pérola,and the Andean bean cultivar Iraí,grown in a *** meiotic index was determined by anther squashing of material fixed in absolute ethanol-glacial acetic acid(3:1)and stained with acetic *** meiotic abnormalities were observed and the meiotic indices were high for all cultivars,indicating that the mismatch generated during crosses is not related to any meiotic *** of pollen viability was made by comparing acetic orcein staining ***’s reactive:pollen viability was high in all cultivars with either stain,but was significantly higher when using the acetic orcein stain(>99%).Though some cultivar showed a significantly smaller pollen size,the range of variation among cultivars was low(means’range 51-66μm).
