Introduction: A psychoactive substance has become an overwhelming public health burden globally. It causes social problems for the user and surrounding people which may affect work or study and cause negative economic impact. Objective: This study aims to translate and culturally adapt the Alcohol, Smoking and Substance Involvement Screening Test (ASSIST) into Malay and to assess its reliability and validity. Methods: The Malay version of the ASSIST v 3.1 was developed after the translation and back-translation, which included the stages recommended by Beaton. The ASSIST v 3.1 was administered to 125 respondents. The Malay ASSIST v 3.1 was completed twice by each respondent 7 to 14-day intervals to assess test-retest reliability based on the intra-rater and interrater correlation coefficient. Results: Majority of the respondents were male, Malay and currently employed. The intra-rater reliability is 0.84 and the test-retest reliability (ICC = 0.97) were excellent. Conclusion: Malay ASSIST v3.1 was a valid and reliable tool to screen substances abuse at varying degree. Nonetheless, further studies are needed to assess its responsiveness.

Relapse typhoid fever in North-eastern state in Malaysia

Objective:To discuss the prevalence,clinical and laboratory presentations of relapse typhoid ***:All relapse cases were reviewed to identify the clinical and laboratory presentation of the relapse typhoid ***:Two hundred and forty six patients were admitted to a teaching tertiary hospital in North-eastern state of Malaysia and fourteen(5.69%) relapse cases were *** duration of relapse after the patient was discharged was(25.0±9.9) *** patients presented with fever,diarrhoea,headache,abdominal pain and constipation. The duration of fever before admission in the initial episode[(8.6±4.2) d]was significantly longer than the relapse episode[(5.0±2.5) d](P=0.019).Four patients have hepatomegaly in initial episode and ten in relapse episode(P=0.852).The defervescence days of initial episodes was (3.2±2.2) d,comparing to relapse episode[(2.0±1.8) d]which was statistically not significant (P=0.124).Conclusion:Assumption of the relapse typhoid fever is milder comparing to original episodes based on observation and is not supported by statistical analysis.

Control signaling is mandatory for the operation and management of all types of communication networks,including the Third Generation Partnership Project(3GPP)mobile broadband ***,they consume important and scarce network resources such as bandwidth and processing *** have been several reports of these control signaling turning into signaling storms halting network operations and causing the respective Telecom companies big financial *** paper draws its motivation from such real network disaster incidents attributed to signaling *** this paper,we present a thorough survey of the causes,of the signaling storm problems in 3GPP-based mobile broadband networks and discuss in detail their possible solutions and *** provide relevant analytical models to help quantify the effect of the potential causes and benefits of their corresponding *** important contribution of this paper is the comparison of the possible causes and solutions/countermeasures,concerning their effect on several important network aspects such as architecture,additional signaling,fidelity,etc.,in the form of a *** paper presents an update and an extension of our earlier conference *** our knowledge,no similar survey study exists on the subject.

Thermal Conductivity of Room Temperature Deep Eutectic Solvents

Comparison of electron transmittances and tunneling currents in an anisotropic TiN_x/HfO_2/SiO_2/p-Si(100) metal-oxide-semiconductor(MOS) capacitor calculated using exponential- and Airy-wavefunction approaches and a transfer matrix method

Analytical expressions of electron transmittance and tunneling current in an anisotropic TiNx/HfO2/SiO2/p-Si（100） metal-oxide-semiconductor （MOS） capacitor were derived by considering the coupling of transverse and longitudinal energies of an electron. Exponential and Airy wavefunctions were utilized to obtain the electron transmittance and the electron tunneling current. A transfer matrix method, as a numerical approach, was used as a benchmark to assess the analytical approaches. It was found that there is a similarity in the transmittances calculated among exponential- and Airy-wavefimction approaches and the TMM at low electron energies. However, for high energies, only the transmit- tance calculated by using the Airy-wavefunction approach is the same as that evaluated by the TMM. It was also found that only the tunneling currents calculated by using the Airy-wavefunction approach are the same as those obtained under the TMM for all range of oxide voltages. Therefore, a better analytical description for the tunneling phenomenon in the MOS capacitor is given by the Airy-wavefunction approach. Moreover, the tunneling current density decreases as the titanium concentration of the TiNx metal gate increases because the electron effective mass of TiNx decreases with increasing nitrogen concentration. In addition, the mass anisotropy cannot be neglected because the tunneling currents obtained under the isotropic and anisotropic masses are very different.

Killing of Staphylococcus aureus by allylpyrocatechol is potentiated by induction of intracellular oxidative stress and inhibition of catalase activity

OBJECTIVE： This study investigated the effects of allylpyrocatechol （APC）, the major component in ethanolic extract of Piper betle, on key oxidative stress resistance enzymes important for the survival of Staphylococcus aureus, a major pathogen in the human host. METHODS： Effects of APC on expressions of genes encoding catalase （katA）, superoxide dismutases （SODs）, including soda and sodM, and alkyl hydroperoxide reductase （ahpC） in S. aureus were quantitated by RT-qPCR in reference to gyrA and 16S rRNA. Corresponding activities of the enzymes were also investigated. The Livak analysis was performed for verification of gene-fold expression data. Effects of APC on intracellular and extracellular reactive oxygen species （ROS） levels were determined using the nitroblue tetrazolium （NBT） reduction assay. RESULTS： APC-treated S. aureus cells had higher sodA and sodM transcripts at 1.5-fold and 0.7-fold expressions respectively with corresponding increase in total SOD activity of 12.24 U/mL compared to untreated cells, 10.85 U/mL （P〈0.05）. Expression of ahpC was highest in APC-treated cells with 5.5-fold increased expression compared to untreated cells （P〈0.05）. Correspondingly, ahpC activity was higher in APC-treated cells at 0.672 （A310nm） compared to untreated cells which was 0.394 （A310nm）. In contrast, katA expression was 1.48-fold and 0.33-fold lower respectively relative to gyrA and 16S rRNA. Further, APC-treated cells showed decreased catalase activity of 1.8 × 10^-4 （U/L or μmol/（min.L）） compared to untreated cells, which was 4.8 × 10^-4 U/L （P〈0.05）. Absorbance readings （A575nm） for the NBT reduction assay were 0.709 and 0.695 respectively for untreated and treated cells, which indicated the presence of ROS. APC-treated S. aureus cells had lower ROS levels both extracellularly and intracellularly, but larger amounts remained intracellularly compared to extracellular levels with absorbances of 0.457 and 0.137 respectively （P〈0.05）. Radiative Blood-Based Hybrid Copper-Graphene Nanoliquid Flows along a Source-Heated Leaning Cylinder

Variant graphene,graphene oxides(GO),and graphene nanoplatelets(GNP)dispersed in blood-based copper(Cu)nanoliquids over a leaning permeable cylinder are the focus of this *** forms of graphene are highly beneficial in the biological and medical fields for cancer therapy,anti-infection measures,and drug *** non-Newtonian Sutterby(blood-based)hybrid nanoliquid flows are generalized within the context of the Tiwari-Das model to simulate the effects of radiation and heating *** governing partial differential equations are reformulated into a nonlinear set of ordinary differential equations using similar transformational *** equations are then transformed into boundary value problems through a shooting technique,followed by the implementation of the bvp4c tool in *** influences of various parameters on the model’s nondimensional velocity and temperature profiles,reduced skin friction,and reduced Nusselt number are presented for detailed *** results indicated that Cu-GNP/blood and Cu-GO/blood hybrid nanofluids exhibit the lowest and highest velocity distributions,respectively,for increased nanoparticles volume fraction,curvature parameter,Sutterby fluid parameter,Hartmann number,and wall permeability ***,opposite trends are observed for the temperature distribution for all considered parameters,except the mixed convection *** in the reduced skin friction magnitude and the reduced Nusselt number with higher values of graphene/GO/GNP nanoparticle volume fraction are also ***,GNP is identified as the superior heat conductor,with an average increase of approximately 5%and a peak of 7.8%in the reduced Nusselt number compared to graphene and GO nanoparticles in the Cu/blood nanofluids.
