We determ.ned whether the inclusion of.100 g/kg dry m.tter of.grape pom.ce silage (GPS) and grape pom.ce bran (GPB) as substitutes f.r other traditional f.ber sources in the diet of.steers (Charolais x Nellore) would im.rove carcass characteristics, m.at quality and com.osition, and shelf.lif.. Twenty-f.ur anim.ls (248 ± 19.32 kg of.initial body weight) were f.d a high concentrate diet f.r 121 days. Carcass characteristics were m.asured, and the longissim.s dorsi m.scle was analyzed f.r f.tty acid (f.) prof.le and com.osition. The m.at was sliced and stored in air-perm.able packages f.r 10 days. On each sam.ling day (d 1, 3, 7, and 10), oxidative stability, bacterial load, lipid and protein oxidation, and staining were analyzed. The experim.ntal diets inf.uenced the pH of.cold carcasses only. The GPS group had a higher pH than the control. The GPS and GPB groups showed im.roved oxidant status (i.e., lower lipid peroxidation and concentrations of.reactive oxygen species were in the m.at of.both groups than in control). On the f.rst day of.storage, the antioxidant enzym. glutathione S-transf.rase activity was m.re signif.cant in the m.at of.the GPS and GPB groups than in the control. The bacterial loads in the m.at were attenuated by GPS inclusion;there were lower total colif.rm.counts and a trend toward lower counts f.r enterobacteria in the control group. The diets altered the f. prof.le of.the m.at;i.e., the GPB diet allowed f.r a m.re signif.cant am.unt of.the n-6 om.gas in the m.at, while the GPS diet showed a tendency f.r a m.re signif.cant am.unt of.n-6 and 9 om.gas. Both diets (GPS and GPB) increased the am.unts of.long-chain f.s. The GPS diet decreased saturated f. levels. We conclude that the dietary treatm.nts GPS and GPB are a prom.sing alternative to m.intain m.at quality standards throughout in real-world retail conditions. AIm. To investigate the ef.ects of.m.tations in dom.in Ⅲ of.the hepatitis C virus （HCV） internal ribosom. entry sequences （IRES） on the response of.chronic HCV genotype 4a patients to interf.ron therapy.m.THODS： HCV RNA was extracted f.om.19 chronic HCV 4a patients receiving interf.ron/ribavirin therapy who showed dram.tic dif.erences in their response to com.ination therapy af.er initial viral clearance. IRES dom.in Ⅲ was cloned and 15 clones f.r each patient were sequenced. The obtained sequences were aligned with genotype 4a prototype using the ClustaIW program.and m.tations scored. Prediction of.stem.loop secondary structure and therm.dynam.c stability of.the m.jor quasispecies in each patient was perf.rm.d using the m.OLD 3.2 program.with Turner energies and selected constraints on base pairing.RESULTS： Analysis of.RNA secondary structure revealed that insertions in dom.in Ⅲ altered WatsonCrick base pairing of.stem. and reduced m.lecular stability of.RNA, which m.y ultim.tely reduce binding af.inity to ribosom.l proteins. Insertion m.tations in dom.in - were statistically m.re prevalent in sustained viral response patients （SVR, n = 14） as com.ared to breakthrough （BT, n = 5） patients.CONCLUSION： The inf.uence of.m.tations within dom.in Ⅲ on the response of.HCV patients to com.ination therapy depends prim.rily on the position, but not the f.equency, of.these m.tations within IRES dom.in Ⅲ.

Background: Hem.pathies were rarely observed in m.jor sickle cell disease patients som. thirty years ago, probably due to the high m.rtality rate am.ng the latter as a result of.progressive com.lications. Thanks to advances in the m.nagem.nt of.sickle cell disease, patients' lif. expectancy has increased considerably, exposing them.m.re f.equently to neoplasia, including hem.tological m.lignancies. The increased risk of.leukem.genesis is m.ltif.ctorial and linked to the pathophysiological m.chanism. of.the clinical m.nif.stations of.sickle cell disease. Study Setting: The clinical haem.tology departm.nt of.cam.us teaching hospital and the paediatric onco-haem.tology unit of.Sylvanus Olym.io teaching hospital in Lom. were used as study settings. Observations: f.ur hem.tologic m.lignancies were collected in a cohort of.5847 m.jor sickle cell syndrom.s. The m.dian age of.the patients was 31.25 years (extrem.s: 14 and 58 years) and they were predom.nantly f.m.le (sex ratio m.f.= 0.25). Two were on background therapy with hydroxyurea. Am.ng the f.ur patients, there were two cases of.acute lym.hocytic leukem.a, including ALL3 in a 58-year-old SS wom.n and T-ALL2 in a 12-year-old SC. Then, a case of.lym.hocytic lym.hom. in a 20-year-old SS m.n was reported and f.nally a case of.chronic m.elocytic leukem.a in a 33-year-old wom.n of.Sβ+ thalassaem.a phenotype. Conclusion: To f.rther report this coexistence, it is theref.re essential to system.tically consider hem.tological m.lignancies during m.jor sickle cell syndrom.s even if.there are sim.larities in the sym.tom.tology of.these two serious pathological situations.

Properties of.com.onents and tools can be im.roved by the com.ination of.coating and heat treatm.nt processes due to the addition of.single process advantages and due to the utilization of.process interactions. Several low and high alloyed, structural and tool steels (AISI 4140, 52100, H13, A2, D2, etc.) have been treated by CVD-TiN-coating plus laser beam.hardening respectively carburizing plus CVD-TiN-coating. Hom.geneous, dense TiN-coatings with high hardness, high com.ressive residual stresses and good adhesion were supported by high strength substrate surf.ces. Objective:The aim.of.this study was to assess the relative ef.icacy of.m.dications used f.llowing severe acute respiratory syndrom. coronavirus-2(SARS-CoV-2)inf.ction on self.reported alterations in taste and/or sm.ll ***:Seven hundred and f.urteen persons with self.reported postcoronavirus disease 2019(post-COVID-19)chem.sensory disorders were personally interviewed regarding specif.c m.dications they were adm.nistered f.llowing the acute phase of.the *** dependent m.asure—self.reported total recovery of.chem.sensory sym.tom.—was subjected to stepwise logistic *** predictors included dem.graphic and clinical variables,in addition to specif.c m.dications used to m.tigate disease sym.tom.(i.e.,system.c corticosteroids,oseltam.vir,vitam.n C,ibuprof.n,hydroxychloroquine,azithrom.cin,iverm.ctin,nitazoxanide,anticoagulants,and zinc).Results:The m.dian tim. between COVID-19 sym.tom.onset and the interviews was 81 days(interquartile range:60-104).Of.the 714 subjects,249(34.9%)reported total recovery of.their chem.sensory f.nction;437(61.2%)had at least one treatm.nt since the beginning of.the *** and those with m.re com.rbidities had undergone m.re *** recovery rates of.the treated and nontreated groups did not dif.er ***,respondents who had used nitazoxanide tended to have a higher rate of.self.reported taste or sm.ll *** who took oral zinc were less likely to ***:No m.dication em.loyed during the f.rst m.nths af.er SARS-CoV-2 inf.ction had a clear positive ef.ect on returning self.reported sm.ll or taste f.nction to norm.l,although nitrazoxide trended in a positive *** zinc had a negative ef.ect on the reported recovery of.these senses.

The present study deals with the ef.ect of.exogenous treatm.nt of.O. niloticus f.m.les with L-thyroxine (T4) on the developm.nt of.the digestive system.during larval rearing, and its subsequent ef.ect on larval growth and survival. The developm.nt of.the digestive tract and accessory glands was investigated histologically and histochem.cally in the developing O. niloticus larvae, f.om.control and T4-treated spawners. During yolk-sac absorption, the digestive system.of.the f.sh underwent f.rther dif.erentiation and the rudim.ntary alim.ntary canal becam. segm.nted into f.ur dif.erent histological regions: the buccopharynx, oesophagus, stom.ch and intestine. The injection of.f.m.les O. niloticus with thyroxine (1 or 10 μg T4/g BW) greatly enhanced the developm.nt of.the digestive tract and accessory glands of.larvae as indicated by the quantitative and qualitative changes of.the m.cus com.osition f.om.predom.nantly neutral to a m.xture of.neutral and acid m.cosubstances, or acid m.cosubstances occurred during the rearing period f.r the larvae produced f.om.T4-treated f.m.les. This m.y be due to the direct ef.ect of.exogenous thyroxine, which m.ght have been transf.rred f.om.m.ternal circulation into the oocytes and larvae, on the synthesis of.proteins, which increased with larval developm.nt. Thus, thyroxine directly or indirectly im.roved O. niloticus larval growth, since a m.rked increase in both, length and weight of.larvae occurred during the experim.ntal period. In addition, larvae f.om.treated f.m.les also gave a signif.cantly higher survival rate than that of.control. It could be concluded that exogenous T4 in m.ternal circulation m.ght have been transf.rred into oocytes and larvae. The transf.rred thyroid horm.ne appears to play som. role in the early developm.nt of.larvae and m.y conf.r a distinct advantage f.r the growth of.the of.spring of.the Nile tilapia, O. niloticus.
