In our case, we present a case of an 80-year-old male who was referred to the gastroenterologist for evaluation of a suspicious mass. CT imaging at the time had shown intrahepatic and extrahepatic biliary dilations, and the patient was thought to have a pancreatic or a common bile duct mass. A mass biopsy showed no malignancy, and further evaluation was warranted. The patient was found to have elevated IgG4 levels and was diagnosed with IgG4-sclerosing cholangitis (IgG4-SC). IgG4 has been found to create a wide array of pathologies, including autoimmune pancreatitis, dacryoadenitis, and sialadenitis. These pathologies have been grouped under an IgG4-Related Disease (IgG4-RD) category. In some cases, this IgG4-RD can present as a subclass of primary sclerosing cholangitis due to immune depositions and swelling of the CBD. Due to the strictures caused by the sclerosing cholangitis, intrahepatic and extrahepatic dilations might be found on endoscopic ultrasound (EUS). It is imperative to differentiate this from a malignant mass as the early recognition and treatment of IgG4-SC can lead to complete resolution. In this case report, we present a case of a patient who was found to have IgG4-SC and responded well to steroid treatment.

Excessive soil salinity is an important constraint limiting the distribution of plants in natural habitats, and is an increasingly severe agricultural problem in arid and semi-arid regions. Higher salinity levels caused significant reduction in growth parameters like leaf area, leaf length and root and shoot dry weight. Salicylic acid （SA）, a plant phenolic is now considered as a hormone-like endogenous regulator, and its role in the defence mechanisms against biotic stressors has been well documented. In recent years its role has been widely investigated in abiotic stress （salinity, drought, water deficit and so on）. The aim of the present work was to study the effects of salicylic acid on growth and some physiological characters of salt stressed tomato plants. The presence of salicylic acid at low concentration （0.01 mM） in culture medium riched with NaCl 100 mM （6 g·L^-1） improves the tolerance of tomato cv. Golden Sunrise to salinity. This amelioration results in stimulation of growth and development of plants. The applied of SA in saline medium induce：（i） an increase in chlorophyll content; （ii） a better supply of essential elements in plant growth, such as K＋; （iii） a decrease in toxic ions such Na＋ and CI in aerial organs; and （iv） an additional synthesis of organic solutes and osmoprotectors like proline and proteins. All these results suggest that salicylic acid could be successfully used in alleviating depressive effects of salt on the productivity of the cultivated tomato.

Experimental Design Approach with Response Surface Methodology for Removal of Indigo Dye by Electrocoagulation

Treatment of Indigo dye (leuco form), reduced in the industrial conditions of the SITEX (Textile Industrial Company), by a batch electrocoagulation using aluminum electrodes. Response Surface Methodology (RSM) and Box-Behnken design were used to optimize for Color Removal (CR(%)). Our results showed that the quadratic second order equation provided the best correlation for the decolorization of Indigo dye (CR(%)). On the other hand, the ANOVA analysis proved the large interaction between the current intensity and the initial concentration of the dye. Experiments were conducted to find the desired conditions for removal of particular concentration of the dye and lower Operation Cost. The results showed that CR(%) = 88.3% (R2) of color removal for initial dye concentration of 12.31 mg/l, with a current density of 2.81 A/m2, solution concentration of NaCl of 2.67 g/l. Under these conditions, Electrical Energy Consumption (EEC) and Electrode Consumption (EMC) and Operation Cost were 0.01999 kWh/m3 (R2 = 93.1%), 0.00142768 Kg/m3 (R2 = 79.4%) and 0.000558 US$/m3, respectively.

AIM: To identify plasma analytes using metabolomics that correlate with the diagnosis and severity of liver disease in patients with alcoholic hepatitis(AH).METHODS: We prospectively recruited patients with cirrhosis from AH(n = 23) and those with cirrhosis with acute decompensation(AD) from etiologies other than alcohol(n = 25). We used mass spectrometry to identify 29 metabolic compounds in plasma samples from fasted subjects. A receiver operating characteristics analysis was performed to assess the utility of biomarkers in distinguishing acute AH from alcoholic cirrhosis. Logistic regression analysis was performed to build a predictive model for AH based on clinical characteristics. A survival analysis was used to construct Kaplan Meier curves evaluating transplant-free ***: A comparison of model for end-stage liver disease(MELD)-adjusted metabolomics levels between cirrhosis patients who had AD or AH showed that patients with AH had significantly higher levels of betaine, and lower creatinine, phenylalanine, homocitrulline, citrulline, tyrosine, octenoyl-carnitine, and symmetric dimethylarginine. When considering combined levels, betaine and citrulline were highly accurate predictors for differentiation between AH and AD(area under receiver operating characteristics curve = 0.84). The plasma levels of carnitine [0.54(0.18, 0.91); P = 0.005], homocitrulline [0.66(0.34, 0.99); P < 0.001] and pentanoyl-carnitine [0.53(0.16, 0.90); P = 0.007] correlated with MELD scores in patients diagnosed with AH. Increased levels of many biomarkers(carnitine P = 0.005, butyrobetaine P = 0.32, homocitrulline P = 0.002, leucine P = 0.027, valine P = 0.024, phenylalanine P = 0.037, tyrosine P = 0.012, acetyl-carnitine P = 0.006, propionyl-carnitine P = 0.03, butyryl-carnitine P = 0.03, trimethyl-lisine P = 0.034, pentanoyl-carnitine P = 0.03, hexanoyl-carnitine P = 0.026) were associated with increased mortality in patients with AH. The integration between the special relativity theory and quantum mechanics yielded many paradoxes that remained unsolved until the last years, like the zitterbewegung problem. Despite the success of the Dirac equation, the spin prediction from it could be identified only with non-relativistic approximations（Pauli and Foldy-Wouthysen）. In this paper, we show that the derivation of the spin and its magnetic moment can be done with a classical treatment. In this approach a modified Dirac equation was obtained which also eliminates the problem of the zitterbewegung.

The present study was designed to compare the effect of racial variations on short- and incremental maximal exercises in sedentary men whites (WT) and blacks (BT) Tunisian and South African (SA). In a randomized order, thirty-six physically sedentary men including 12 BT, 12 WT, and 12 SA were asked to perform a force-velocity (i.e., determination of maximal power (Pmax), F0, and V0) and a treadmill maximal aerobic (i.e., determination of maximal oxygen uptake (VO2 max)) tests. Pmax and F0 were significantly higher in SA than WT (p 0 values. Moreover, VO2 max was significantly higher in SA and BT than WT (p < 0.001). However, no significant difference was observed between SA and BT. Compared to white subjects, the present study’ results suggest the superiority of blacks races on aerobic and anaerobic exercises in physically sedentary men.

在涤纶(PET)纤维熔融纺丝过程中加入阻燃材料,制得了共混法阻燃涤纶织物;另外,对纯涤纶织物进行阻燃涂层整理,得到了涂层法阻燃涤纶织物。通过热重分析和锥形量热分析,研究了共混纺丝阻燃处理和涂层阻燃处理对涤纶织物耐燃性能的影响。结果表明,采用涂层背面作为受热面时,材料整体的阻燃性能并没有得到显著改善;采用涂层面作为受热面时,其阻燃效果远低于共混阻燃的,且在燃烧过程中会放出大量烟雾,增加火灾危险;因此,共混阻燃处理更适合于制备座椅用阻燃涤纶织物。

This paper presents a robust adaptive control scheme for a class of continuous-time linear systems with unknown non-smooth asymmetrical deadzone nonlinearity at the input of the plant. The methodology is applied to handle input deadzone as well as unmeasurable disturbances simultaneously in strictly matched systems. The proposed controller robustly cancels any residual distortion caused by the inaccurate deadzone cancellation scheme. The scheme is shown to successfully cancel the deadzone’s deleterious effect as well as eliminate other unmeasurable disturbances within the span of the input. The new controller ensures the global stability of all states and adaptations, and achieves asymptotic tracking. The asymptotic stability of the closed-loop system is proven by Lyapunov arguments, and simulation results confirm the efficacy of the control methodology.
