A significant amount of research is concerned with dynamic modal parameters for damage detection of structural conditions due to their simplicity in use and ***,their use for damage detection should be performed with special attention,particularly in operational and environmental conditions subjected to temperature *** in construction industries experience different loading types,such as temperature changes leading to crack initiation and *** physical and dynamic properties such as natural frequencies and mode shapes indicate that damage has occurred within the *** this study,vibration analysis of cantilever and cantilever simply supported beams has been carried out on intact and damaged beams to investigate the coupled effect of temperature changes and damage depth on natural frequencies.A numerical analysis of beams is completed using ANSYS *** results of numerical simulation are validated using two other studies from *** results revealed that in order to perform a successful damage assessment using the frequency shift,the vibration modes should be selected *** addition,an increase in temperature results in a decrease in structural *** assessment of the effect of damage depth on natural frequencies also confirms that when damage depth is increased,there is a significant decrease in natural frequency responses.

Next generation sequencing of Apis mellifera syriaca identifies genes for Varroa resistance and beneficial bee keeping traits

Apis mellifera syriaca exhibits a high degree of tolerance to pests and pathogens including varroa mites. This native honey bee subspecies of Jordan expresses behavioral adaptations to high temperature and dry seasons typical of the region. However, persistent honey bee imports of commercial breeder lines are endangering local honey bee population. This study reports the use of next-generation sequencing （NGS） technology to study the A. m. syriaca genome and to identify genetic factors possibly contributing toward mite resistance and other favorable traits. We obtained a total of 46.2 million raw reads by applying the NGS to sequence A. m. syriaca and used extensive bioinformatics approach to identify several candidate genes for Varroa mite resistance, behavioral and immune responses char- acteristic for these bees. As a part of characterizing the functional regulation of molecular genetic pathway, we have mapped the pathway genes potentially involved using information from Drosophila melanogaster and present possible functional changes implicated in responses to Varroa destructor mite infestation toward this. We performed in-depth functional annotation methods to identify -600 candidates that are relevant, genes involved in pathways such as microbial recognition and phagocytosis, peptidoglycan recognition protein family, Gram negative binding protein family, phagocytosis receptors, serpins, Toll signaling pathway, Imd pathway, Tnf, JAK-STAT and MAPK pathway, heamatopioesis and cellular response pathways, antiviral, RNAi pathway, stress factors, etc. were selected. Finally, we have cataloged function-specific polymorphisms between A. mellifera and A. m. syriaca that could give better understanding of varroa mite resistance mechanisms and assist in breeding. Impact of Intensive Greenhouse Production System on Soil Quality

Composite top- and subsoil samples were collected from the greenhouses in the Al-Balawneh area,Jordan,where intensive greenhouse production system(IGPS) has been practiced since 1998,to study the impact of IGPS on soil quality as measured by the chemical and biological properties to develop a sustainable production *** study showed that IGPS led to higher electrical conductivity in top- and subsoils compared to an uncultivated soil(control).Quality and amount of irrigation water,lack of efficient drainage,and quantity and types of applied fertilizers were major factors resulting in salt *** resulted in lower total N(TN) and NO_3-N in the soil compared to the *** lower TN was due to crop uptake,microbial immobilization,volatilization,and irregular application of composted animal manure or poultry *** contrast,higher residual Olsen-P content was detected in both soil layers of greenhouses than in the *** P was classified as very high in the topsoil layers and sufficient to high in the subsoil *** available K in the soils of greenhouses was relatively lower than that in the control and it was,however,classified as high to very high.A large increase of Cl and a considerable decrease in the bacterial count were observed in both soil layers of IGPS compared to the control *** sustainable soil management practices need to be adopted by farmers to achieve a sustainable and profitable *** can be accomplished through education,targeted towards the farming community in the central Jordan Valley.

Endoscopic fasciotomy for chronic exertional compartment syndrome of the forearm:Systematic review of outcomes and complications

BACKGROUND Endoscopic fasciotomy of the forearm for chronic exertional compartment syndrome(CECS)has gained popularity *** To systematically review the literature of endoscopic fasciotomy for CECS of the forearm,aiming to assess the outcomes and complications of the different endoscopic fasciotomy techniques described in the *** On January 18,2021,PubMed and EMBASE were searched by 3 reviewers independently,and all relevant studies published up to that date were considered based on predetermined inclusion/exclusion *** subject headings“endoscopic fasciotomy”and“compartment syndrome”and their related key terms were *** Preferred Reporting Item for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses statement was used to screen the *** A total of seven studies including 183 patients(355 forearms)were *** mean age of the patients was 31.2 years(range:15-42 years).The postoperative follow-up duration ranged from 6 wk to 4.9 *** patients were able to return to sport activities between postoperative weeks 1 to *** of the compartment syndrome occurred in three patients,giving a rate of 1.6%per patient and 0.8%per *** overall complication rate was 8.7%per patient,and 4.5%per *** most common reported complication was hematoma(7 forearms;2.0%).CONCLUSION Endoscopic fasciotomy for CECS of the forearm has favorable short-and midterm outcomes with very low recurrence and complication ***,however,needs to be confirmed in larger,long-term follow-up,prospective,comparative studies between open,mini-open and endoscopic fasciotomy techniques.

Humid Air Plasma Treatment of Birnessite Surface: Application to the Removal of Cochineal Red

The thin layers of birnessite (Mn7O13?5H2O) are exposed to reactive species gliding arc plasma in humid air, which induces the treatment of the thin layers surface. Plasma treatment thin layer of birnessite was used for the degradation of Cochineal Red. The experimental results showed that 95% of the CR solution was completely decolorized by thin layer of birnessite treated by plasma compared to 80% of the same solution after interaction of thin layer of birnessite untreated. The decay kinetics always follows a pseudo-first order reaction. The application of the humid air plasma for the surface treatment of thin layers of birnessite improves the efficiency of treatment for Cochineal Red degradation.

This article aims to assess health habits,safety behaviors,and anxiety factors in the community during the novel coronavirus disease(COVID-19)pandemic in Saudi Arabia based on primary data collected through a questionnaire with 320 *** other words,this paper aims to provide empirical insights into the correlation and the correspondence between sociodemographic factors(gender,nationality,age,citizenship factors,income,and education),and psycho-behavioral effects on individuals in response to the emergence of this new *** focus on the interaction between these variables and their effects,we suggest different methods of analysis,comprising regression trees and support vector machine regression(SVMR)*** to the regression tree results,the age variable plays a predominant role in health habits,safety behaviors,and *** health habit index,which focuses on the extent of behavioral change toward the commitment to use the health and protection methods,is highly affected by gender and age *** average monthly income is also a relevant factor but has contrasting effects during the COVID-19 pandemic *** results of the SVMR model reveal a strong positive effect of income,with R^(2) values of 99.59%,99.93%and 99.88%corresponding to health habits,safety behaviors,and anxiety.

A large subset of corneal pathologies involves the formation of new vessels(neovascularization), leading to compromised visual acuity. This article aims to review the clinical causes and presentations of corneal neovascularization(CNV) by examining the mechanisms behind common CNV-related corneal pathologies, with a particular focus on herpes simplex stromal keratitis,contact lenses-induced keratitis and CNV secondary to keratoplasty. Moreover, we reviewed CNV in the context of different types of corneal transplantation and keratoprosthesis, and summarized the most relevant treatment available so far.

Groundwater Assessment for the NW of Auja Tamaseeh Basin in Tulkarem Area, West Bank

The study aims to assess groundwater in Auja—Tamaseeh basin in Tulkarem area—West Bank. A steady state calibration flow model as well as solute transport model were built using the visual Modflow software. A stress period of 10 years (2005 - 2015) was assigned to study its tendency to contamination. The model results show that there is a pollution risk due to the human activities in the area. The groundwater situation will be harmful if there is no action done by the water-decision makers to preserve the aquifers from deterioration and contamination.

Post-operative visual outcomes based on morphological staging of idiopathic epiretinal membranes on OCT
