We prese nt a morphological and molecular assessment of the microhyla fauna of myanmar based on new collections from central (magway Division) and northem (Kachin State) parts of the country. In total, six species of microhyla are documented, including m. berdmorei, m. heymonsi, m. butleri, m. mukhlesuri and two new species described from the semi-arid savarma-like plains of the middle part of the Irrawaddy (Ayeyarwady) River Valley. We used a 2 481 bp long 12S rRNA- 16S rRNA fragment of mtDNA to hypothesize gen ealogical relati on ships within microhyla. We applied an in teg rati ve taxonomic approach combining molecular, morphological, and acoustic lines of evidenee to evaluate the taxonomic status of mya nmar microhyla. We dem on strated that the newly discovered populations of microhyla sp. from the magway Division represent two yet undescribed species. These two new sympatric species are assigned to the m. achatina species group, with both adapted to the seas on ally dry environments of the Irrawaddy Valley. microhyla fodiens sp. nov. is a stout-bodied species with a remarkably enlarged shovel-like outer metatarsal tubercle used for burrowing and is highly diverge nt from other know n congeners (P-distancea8.8%). microhyla irrawaddy sp. nov. is a small-bodied slender frog reconstructed as a sister species to m. kodial from southern India (P-distance=5.3%);however, it clearly differs from the latter both in external morphology and advertisement call parameters. microhyla mukhlesuri is reported from myanmar for the first time. We further discuss the morphological diag no sties and biogeography of microhyla species recorded in myanmar.

Current magnetic memories are based on writing and reading out the domains with opposite orientation of the magnetization ***,information can be encoded in regions with a different value of the saturation *** latter approach can be realized in principle with chemical order-disorder transitions in intermetallic ***,we study such transformations in a thin-film(35 nm)Fe60Al40 alloy and demonstrate the formation of periodic magnetic nanostructures(PmNS)on its surface by direct laser interference patterning(DLIP).These PmNS are nonvolatile and detectable by magnetic force microscopy(mFm)at room temperature after DLIP with a single nanosecond *** provide different arguments that the PmNS we observe originate from increasing magnetization in maxima of the interference pattern because of chemical disordering in the atomic lattice of the alloy at temperatures T higher than the critical temperature Tc for the order(B2)-disorder(A2)***,our simulations of the temporal evolution of a partially ordered state at T>Tc reveal that the disordering rate is significant even below the melting ***,we find that the PmNS are erasable with standard thermal annealing at T

A new form of miscanthus (Chinese silver grass, miscanthus sinensis—Andersson) as a promising source of cellulosic biomass

The Far East population of miscanthus sinensis (Andersson) was introduced into the West Siberia conditions. There was distinguished a form with a modified structure of the rootage which forms long shoots with leader buds and rapidly colonizes soil, thus forming a continuous and flat (without tussocks) plantation of miscanthus. It is shown that using usual agrotechnologies, it is possible to obtain 10-15 tons of dry biomass of high quality cellulose (about 40%) per ha/year.

In the far field of the intensity distribution of the beam delivered by a two-stage transient–collisional excitation X-ray laser(XRL), a non-expected interference pattern that is stable from shot to shot has been discovered. It is demonstrated that the interference is caused by the emergence of an imaginary source in the amplifying plasma, which is phase matched to the radiation of the generator. The observed phenomenon is called an X-ray coherent mirage. To explain the obtained results, a new theoretical approach is developed. The basic essential conditions for formation of the X-ray mirage are formulated, and possible applications are discussed. This paper details the experiments, including the formulation of the necessary and sufficient conditions for formation of the X-ray mirage, and possible applications are discussed.

Since 2009 initiatives that were selected for the roadmap of the European Strategy Forum on Research Infrastructures started working to build research infrastructures for a wide range of research *** important result of the strategic discussions was that distributed infrastructure scenarios were now seen as“complex research facilities”in addition to,for example traditional centralised infrastructures such as *** this paper we look at five typical examples of such distributed infrastructures where many researchers working in different centres are contributing data,tools/services and knowledge and where the major task of the research infrastructure initiative is to create a virtually integrated suite of resources allowing researchers to carry out state-of-the-art *** analysis shows that most of these research infrastructures worked on the Findability,Accessibility,Interoperability and Reusability dimensions before the term“FAIR”was actually *** definition of the FAIR principles and their wide acceptance can be seen as a confirmation of what these initiatives were doing and it gives new impulse to close still existing *** initiatives also seem to be ready to take up the next steps which will emerge from the definition of FAIR maturity *** from these infrastructures should bring in their 10-years’experience in this definition process.

The Determination of Surface Thermodynamic Properties of Nanoparticles by Thermal Analysis

The effect of dispersivity on thermodynamic and kinetic parameters of chemical reactions in nanodispersed systems is theoretically investigated. On the basis of the established theoretical dependences the new method of determination of surface thermodynamic properties of nanoparticles (surface enthalpy, surface entropy and surface energy) by thermal analysis (DTA or DSC) was developed. Three examples of calculation of surface properties of nanoparticles were presented to prove the feasibility of this method.

GSC 4560–02157: a new long-period eclipsing cataclysmic variable star

We study the newly discovered variable star GSC 4560-02157. CCD photometry was performed in 2013-2014 at the Tien Shan Astronomical Observatory,and a spectrum was obtained with the 6-m telescope of the Special Astrophysical Observatory in June, 2014. GSC 4560-02157 is demonstrated to be an eclipsing variable star（P = 0.265359d）. All its flat-bottom primary minima are approximately at the same brightness level, but the star＇s out-of-eclipse brightness and brightness at secondary minima vary considerably（by up to 0.6m） from cycle to cycle. moreover,there are short-term（time scale of 0.03-0.04 days） small-amplitude brightness variations out of eclipse. This behavior suggests a cataclysmic nature for the star, which is confirmed with a spectrum taken on 2014 June 5. The spectrum shows numerous emissions of the hydrogen Balmer series, He Ⅰ and He Ⅱ.

Osteopontin: A non-invasive parameter of portal hypertension and prognostic marker of cirrhosis

AIm: To investigate the relationship between osteopontin plasma concentrations and the severity of portal hypertension and to assess osteopontin prognostic ***: A cohort of 154 patients with confirmed liver cirrhosis (112 ethylic, 108 men, age 34-72 years) were enrolled in the study. Hepatic venous pressure gradient (HVPG) measurement and laboratory and ultrasound examinations were carried out for all patients. HVPG was measured using a standard catheterization method with the balloon wedge technique. Osteopontin was measured using the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) method in plasma. Patients were followed up with a specific focus on mortality. The control group consisted of 137 healthy age- and sex- matched ***: The mean value of HVPG was 16.18 ± 5.6 mmHg. Compared to controls, the plasma levels of osteopontin in cirrhotic patients were significantly higher (P ma levels of osteopontin were positively related to HVPG (P = 0.0022, r = 0.25) and differed among the individual Child-Pugh groups of patients. The cut-off value of 80 ng/mL osteopontin distinguished patients with significant portal hypertension (HVPG above 10 mmHg) at 75% sensitivity and 63% specificity. The mean follow-up of patients was 3.7 ± 2.6 years. The probability of cumulative survival was 39% for patients with HVPG > 10 mmHg and 65% for those with HVPG ≤ 10 mmHg (P = 0.0086, odds ratio (OR), 2.92, 95% confidence interval (CI): 1.09-7.76). Osteopontin showed a similar prognostic value to HVPG. Patients with osteopontin values above 80 ng/mL had significantly lower cumulative survival compared to those with osteopontin ≤ 80 ng/mL (37% vs 56%, P = 0.00035; OR = 2.23, 95%CI: 1.06-4.68).CONCLUSION: Osteopontin is a non-invasive parameter of portal hypertension that distinguishes patients with clinically significant portal hypertension. It is a strong prognostic factor for survival.
