Perovskite solar cells(PSCs)have made great advances in terms of power conversion efficiency(PCE),yet their subpar stability continues to hinder their *** interface between the perovskite layer and the charge-carrier transporting layers plays a crucial role in undermining the stability of *** this work,we propose a strategy to stabilize high-performance PSCs with PCE over 23%by introducing a cesium-doped graphene oxide(GO-Cs)as an interlayer between the perovskite and hole-transporting *** GO-Cs treated PSCs exhibit excellent operational stability with a projected t80(the time where the device PCE reduces to 80%of its initial value)of 2143 h of operation at the maximum powering point under one sun illumination.

We present a unique case of biopsy-proven syphilitic hepa-titis which presented as severe acute liver injury with sig-nificant elevation in aminotransferases and bilirubin,and improved with antibiotic ***,the patient re-turned weeks after initial presentation with new-onset acute liver injury and had developed hypergammaglobulinemia,positive autoantibody titers,and repeat liver biopsy dem-onstrating interface hepatitis,supporting a diagnosis of autoimmune *** had an otherwise unrevealing etiologic workup,and responded to glucocorticoid *** believe that syphilitic hepatitis and its treatment sub-sequently triggered an immunogenic response,leading to autoimmune *** hepatitis is a chronic liver disease thought to manifest as a result of predisposing genetic factors in combination with environmental insults,especially hepatotropic *** is a sexually transmitted disease caused by treponema pallidum that has been associated with autoimmunity and the develop-ment of *** propose that in the setting of syphilitic hepatitis,a molecular mimicry event resulting from structural similarities between *** and liver antigens,as well as impaired regulatory t-cell function,led to the breakdown of immune tolerance and the onset of au-toimmune *** support this hypothesis,further mo-lecular analyses and case series are necessary to determine if syphilitic hepatitis and its treatment are risk factors for the onset of autoimmune *** hepatitis should be considered early as the cause of acute liver injury in susceptible patients with risk factors for the disease,as prompt recognition and appropriate treatment may prevent progression of liver injury and result in improved outcomes.

BACKGROUND tracheostomy is commonly used in intensive care unit(ICU)patients who are expected to be on long-term mechanical ventilation or suffer from emergency upper airway ***,some studies have conflicting findings regarding the optimal technique and its timing and *** to provide evidence of practice,characteristics,and outcome concerning tracheostomy in an ICU of a tertiary care *** this was a retrospective cohort study including adult critical care patients in a single ICU for two consecutive ***’demographic characteristics,severity of illness(APACHE II score),level of consciousness[Glasgow Coma Scale(GCS)],comorbidities,timing and type of tracheostomy procedure performed and outcome were *** defined late as tracheostomy placement after 8 days or no *** Data of 660 patients were analyzed(median age of 60 years),median APACHE II score of 19 and median GCS score of 12 at *** was performed in 115 patients,of whom 63 had early and 52 late *** tracheostomy was mainly executed in case of altered level of consciousness and severe critical illness polyneuromyopathy,however there were no significant statistical results(47.6%vs 36.5%,P=0.23)and(23.8%vs 19.2%,P=0.55)*** the method selected,early surgical tracheostomy(St)was conducted in patients with maxillofacial injuries(50.0%vs 0.0%,P=0.033),whereas late surgical tracheostomy was selected for patients with goiter(44.4%vs 0.0%P=0.033).Patients with early tracheostomy spent significantly fewer days on mechanical ventilation(15.3±8.5 vs 22.8±9.6,Ptaneous dilatation tracheostomy(PDt)vs St was preferable in older critical care patients in the case of Central Nervous System underlying cause of admission(62.5%vs 26.3%,P=0.004).St was the method of choice in compromised airway(31.6%,vs 7.3%P=0.008).A large proportion of patients(88/115)with t

Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)is the most common primary malignancy of the liver and is unfortunately associated with an overall poor prognosis and high *** and intermediate stages of HCC allow for treatment with surgical resection,ablation and even liver transplantation,however disease progression warrants conventional systemic *** years treatment options were limited to molecular-targeting medications,of which sorafenib remains the standard of *** recent development and success of immune checkpoint inhibitors has proven to be a breakthrough in the treatment of HCC,but there is an urgent need for the development of further novel therapeutic treatments that prolong overall survival and minimize *** investigation is focused on adoptive cell therapy including chimeric antigen receptor-t cells(CAR-t cells),t cell receptor(tCR)engineered t cells,dendritic cells,natural killer cells,and tumor infiltrating lymphocyte cells,which have shown remarkable success in the treatment of hematological and solid tumor *** this review we briefly introduce readers to the currently approved systemic treatment options and present clinical and experimental evidence of HCC immunotherapeutic treatments that will hopefully one day allow for revolutionary change in the treatment modalities used for unresectable *** also provide an up-to-date compilation of ongoing clinical trials investigating CAR-t cells,tCR engineered t cells,cancer vaccines and oncolytic viruses,while discussing strategies that can help overcome commonly faced challenges when utilizing cellular based treatments.

We propose a numerical methodology for the simultaneous numerical simulation of four states of matter:gas,liquid,elastoplastic solids,and *** distinct,interacting physical processes are described by a combination of compressible,inert,and reactive forms of the Euler equations,multi-phase equations,elastoplastic equations,and resistive MHD *** of systems of equations are usually solved by coupling finite element for solid modelling and CFD models for fluid modelling or including material effects through boundary conditions rather than full material *** simultaneous solution methodology lies on the recasting of all the equations in the same,hyperbolic form allowing their solution on the same grid with the same finite volume numerical *** use a combination of sharp-and diffuse-interface methods to track or capture material interfaces,depending on the *** communication between the distinct systems of equations(i.e.,materials separated by sharp interfaces)is facilitated by means of mixed-material Riemann solvers at the boundaries of the systems,which represent physical material *** this end,we derive approximate mixed-material Riemann solvers for each pair of the above models based on characteristic *** demonstrate the applicability of the new methodology,we consider a case study,where we investigate the possibility of ignition of a combustible gas that lies over a liquid in a metal container that is struck by a plasma arc akin to a lightning *** study the effect of the metal container material and its conductivity on the ignition of the combustible gas,as well as the effects of an additional dielectric coating,the sensitivity of the gas,and differences between scenarios with sealed and pre-damaged metal surfaces.

In a recent publication, Gianatti and colleagues investigated the effect of testosterone treatment in obese, aging men with type 2 diabetes （t2D） with mild to moderate symptoms, a modest reduction in testosterone levels, mild to moderate aging male symptoms, and erectile dysfunction？ the authors could not show any significant improvement in constitutional or sexual symptoms in this group of men. this randomized double-blind, parallel, and placebo-controlled trial among other critically emphasizes the increased testosterone prescriptions worldwide and together with other corroborating or contradictory studies awakes the need for guidelines in the androgen replacement treatment.

BACKGROUND: the management of metastatic disease in pancreatic endocrine tumors (PEts) demands a multidisciplinary approach and the cooperation of several medical specialties. the role of surgery is critical, even when a radical excision cannot always be achieved. DAtA SOURCES: A PubMed search of relevant articles published up to February 2011 was performed to identify current information about PEt liver metastases regarding diagnosis and management, with an emphasis on surgery. RESULtS: the early diagnosis of metastases and their accurate localization, most commonly in the liver, is very important. Surgical options include radical excision, and palliative excision to relieve symptoms in case of failure of medical treatment. the goal of the radical excision is to remove the primary tumor bulk and all liver metastases at the same time, but unfortunately it is not feasible in most cases. Palliative excisions include aggressive tumor debulking surgeries in well-differentiated carcinomas, trying to remove at least 90% of the tumor mass, combined with other additional destructive techniques such as hepatic artery embolization or chemoembolization to treat metastases or chemoembolization to relieve symptoms in cases of rapidly growing tumors. the combination of chemoembolization and systemic chemotherapy results in better response and survival rates. Other local destructive techniques include ethanol injection, cryotherapy and radiofrequency ablation. CONCLUSION: It seems that the current management of PEts can achieve important improvements, even in advanced cases.

Intermodal four-wave mixing(FWM)processes have recently attracted significant interest for all-optical signal processing applications thanks to the possibility to control the propagation properties of waves exciting distinct spatial modes of the same *** allows,in principle,to place signals in different spectral regions and satisfy the phase matching condition over considerably larger bandwidths compared to intramodal ***,the demonstrations reported so far have shown a limited bandwidth and suffered from the lack of on-chip components designed for broadband manipulation of different *** demonstrate here a silicon-rich silicon nitride wavelength converter based on Bragg scattering intermodal FWM,which integrates mode conversion,multiplexing and de-multiplexing functionalities *** system enables wavelength conversion between pump waves and a signal located in different telecommunication bands(separated by 60 nm)with a 3 dB bandwidth exceeding 70 nm,which represents,to our knowledge,the widest bandwidth ever achieved in an intermodal FWM-based system.
