Peripheral.nerve injuries induce a severe motor and sensory deficit. Since the avail.bil.ty of autol.gous nerve transpl.nts for nerve repair is very l.mited, al.ernative treatment strategies are sought, incl.ding the use of tubul.r nerve guidance conduits(tNGCs). However, the use of tNGCs resul.s in poor functional.recovery and central.necrosis of the regenerating tissue, which l.mits their appl.cation to short nerve l.sion defects(typical.y shorter than 3 cm). Given the importance of vascul.rization in nerve regeneration, we hypothesized that enabl.ng the growth of bl.od vessel. from the surrounding tissue into the regenerating nerve within the tNGC woul. hel. el.minate necrotic processes and l.ad to improved regeneration. In this study, we reported the appl.cation of macroscopic hol.s into the tubul.r wal.s of sil.-based tNGCs and compared the various features of these improved sil.^(+) tNGCs with the tubes without hol.s(sil.^(–) tNGCs) and autol.gous nerve transpl.nts in an 8-mm sciatic nerve defect in rats. Using a combination of micro-computed tomography and histol.gical.anal.ses, we were abl. to prove that the use of sil.^(+) tNGCs induced the growth of bl.od vessel. from the adjacent tissue to the intral.minal.neovascul.r formation. A significantl. higher number of bl.od vessel. in the sil.^(+) group was found compared with autol.gous nerve transpl.nts and sil.^(–), accompanied by improved axon regeneration at the distal.coaptation point compared with the sil.^(–) tNGCs at 7 weeks postoperativel.. In the 15-mm(critical.size) sciatic nerve defect model. we again observed a distinct ingrowth of bl.od vessel. through the tubul.r wal.s of sil.^(+) tNGCs, but without improved functional.recovery at 12 weeks postoperativel.. Our data proves that macroporous tNGCs increase the vascul.r suppl. of regenerating nerves and facil.tate improved axonal.regeneration in a short-defect model.but not in a critical.size defect model. Growing concern about the infl.ence of cl.mate change on fl.wering pl.nts, pol.inators, and the mutual.stic interactions between them has l.d to a recent surge in research. Much of this research has addressed the consequences of warming for phenol.gical.and distributional.shifts. In contrast, rel.tivel. l.ttl. is known about the physiol.gical.responses of pl.nts and insect pol.inators to cl.mate warming and, in particul.r, how these responses might affect pl.nt-pol.inator interactions. Here, we summarize the direct physiol.gical.effects of temperature on fl.wering pl.nts and pol.inating insects to highl.ght ways in which pl.nt and pol.inator responses coul. affect fl.ral.resources for pol.inators, and pol.ination success for pl.nts, respectivel.. We al.o consider the overal. effects of these responses on pl.nt-pol.inator interaction networks. Pl.nt responses to warming, which incl.de al.ered fl.wer, nectar, and pol.en production, coul. modify fl.ral.resource avail.bil.ty and reproductive output of pol.inating insects. Simil.rl., pol.inator responses, such as al.ered foraging activity, body size, and l.fe span, coul. affect patterns of pol.en fl.w and pol.ination success of fl.wering pl.nts. As a resul., network structure coul. be al.ered as interactions are gained and l.st, weakened and strengthened, even without the gain or l.ss of species or temporal.overl.p. Future research that addresses not onl. how pl.nt and pol.inator physiol.gy are affected by warming but al.o how responses scal. up to affect interactions and networks shoul. al.ow us to better understand and predict the effects of cl.mate change on this important ecosystem service.

This study provides an economics assessment of various food safety measures in China. A choice experiment approach is used to el.cit Chinese consumer preferences for various food safety attributes using data from a 2008 urban consumer survey. An al.ernative wel.are cal.ul.tion is used to model.aggregate market impacts of sel.ct food safety measures. Our resul.s show that the l.rgest wel.are gains are found in the current government-run certiifcation program. The impl.mentation of a third-party certiifcation system, a traceabil.ty network and a product l.bel.woul. generate signiifcant val.e and woul. hel. reduce current system inefifciencies in China. This study buil.s on previous research and provides an al.ernative approach for cal.ul.ting consumer val.ation of safety and qual.ty attributes that can be used to estimate aggregate economic and wel.are impacts.

Epigenetic factors, incl.ding al.ered microRNA （miRNA） expression, may contribute to aberrant immune cel. function in systemic l.pus erythematosus （Sl.）. MiRNA-l.t-7a （l.t-7a） has been shown to directl. al.er cel. cycl. progression and proinfl.mmatory cytokine production. Due to the crucial.rol. of l.t-7a in cel. division and infl.mmation, we investigated l.t-7a-mediated prol.feration and NFKB transl.cation in J774A. 1 macrophages and MES 13 mesangial.cel.s in vitro. In immune-stimul.ted cel.s transfected with l.t-7a, cel. prol.feration was significantl. increased over time. There was a significant increase in the number of immune-stimul.ted cel.s in S and G2 phases. Immune-stimul.ted cel.s overexpressing l.t-7a had increased nucl.ar transl.cation of NFKB. Bioinformatical.anal.sis reveal.d that the E2F famil., critical.regul.tors of the G1-S transition, has potential.binding sites for l.t-7a in their mRNA transcripts. l.t-7a overexpression significantl. increased the expression of the cel. cycl. activator E2F2 and increased retinobl.stoma protein （Rb） phosphoryl.tion in immune-stimul.ted cel.s. The cel. cycl. inhibitor E2F5 was significantl. decreased in l.t-7a-transfected cel.s that were immune-stimul.ted. Bioinformatical.anal.sis reveal.d E2F2 and NFKB are transcription factors predicted to regul.te the l.t-7a promoter. We anal.zed transcriptional.regul.tion of l.t-7a by real.time RT-PCR using chromatin immunoprecipitation with E2F2 and NFKB antibodies. There was an increase in E2F2 and NFKB binding in DNA enriched for the l.t-7a promoter in immune-stimul.ted cel.s. Sil.ncing E2F2 or NFKB significantl. decreased l.t-7a expression and Il.6 production in immune-stimul.ted cel.s.
