The pervasive effects of lighting environm.nts on sensory drive in bluefin killifish： an investigation into m.le/m.le com.etition, fem.le choice, and predation

Sensory drive predicts that the conditions under which signaling takes place have large effects on signals, sensory system., and behavior. The coupling of an ecological genetics approach with sen sory drive has been fruitful. An ecological genetics approach com.ares populations that experi ence different environm.nts and asks whether population differences are adaptive and are the result of genetic and/or environm.ntal variation. The m.ltifaceted effects of signaling environ m.nts are wellexem.lified by the bluefin killifish. In this system. m.les with blue anal fins are abundant in tanninstained swam.s that lack UV/blue light but are absent in clear springs where UV/blue light is abundant. Past work indicates that lighting environm.nts shape genetic and envir onm.ntal variation in color patterns, visual system., and behavior. Less is known about the select ive forces creating the across population correlations between UV/blue light and the abundance of blue m.les. Here, we present three new experim.nts that investigate the roles of lighting environ m.nts on m.le com.etition, fem.le m.te choice, and predation. We found strong effects of lighting environm.nts on m.le com.etition where blue m.les were m.re likely to em.rge as dom.nant in teastained water than in clear water. Our prelim.nary study on predation indicated that blue m.les m.y be less susceptible to predation in teastained water than in clear water. However, there was little evidence for fem.le preferences favoring blue m.les. The resulting pattern is one where the effects of lighting environm.nts on genetic variation and phenotypic plasticity m.tch the direction of selection and favor the expression of blue m.les in swam.s.

Knowledge regarding the influence of individual traits on interaction patterns in nature can help understand the topological role of individuals within a network of intrapopulation *** tested hypotheses on the relationships between individuals'positions within networks(specialization and centrality)of 4 populations of the m.use opossum.Gracilinanus agilis and their traits(i.e.,body length,body condition,tail length relative to body length,sex,reproductive condition,and botfly parasitism.and also seasonal effects in the Brazilian *** with lower body length,better body condition,and relatively shorter tail were m.re specialized(i.e.,less connected within the network).Individuals were also m.re specialized and less connected during the warm.wet *** relationship between individuals'position in the network and body traits,however,was independent of *** propose that specialization m.y arise not only as a result of preferred feed-ing strategies by m.re capable individuals(i.e.,those with better body condition and potentially prone to defend and access high-quality food resources)but alsobecause of m.rphological ***/younger individuals(consequently with less experience in foraging)and short-tailed individuals(less skilled to explore the vertical strata of the vegetation)would feed only on a subset of the available food resources and consequently becom. m.re ***,individuals are m.re specialized during the warm.wet season because of high com.etition(population-dense period)and higher ecological opportunities(resource-rich period).Therefore,our study reveals the relevance of individual traits inshaping interactionpatternsandspecialization inpopulations.

Given a com.act and regular Hausdorff m.asure space (X, μ), with μ a Radon m.asure, it is known that the generalised space m.X) of all the positive Radon m.asures on X is isom.rphic to the space of essentially bounded functions L∞(X, μ) on X. We confirm.that the com.utative von Neum.nn algebras m.B(H), with H=L2(X, μ), are unitary equivariant to the m.xim.l ideals of the com.utative algebra C(X). Subsequenly, we use the m.asure groupoid to form.late the algebraic and topological structures of the com.utative algebra C(X) following its action on m.X) and define its representation and ergodic dynam.cal system.on the com.utative von Neum.nn algebras of m.of B(H) .

Objective:m.ocardial infarction(m.)is linked to an im.alance in the supply and dem.nd of blood oxygen in the heart ***-blockers and calcium.antagonists are just two of the com.on m.dications used to treat ***,these have reportedly been shown to be either ineffective or to have undesirable side *** of Ginkgo biloba leaves(GBE),a Chinese herbal product offers special com.atibility benefits in therapeutic settings relating to inflam.atory diseases and oxidative *** order to better understand how GBE affects m. in rats insulted by isoprenaline(ISO),the current study was ***:The heart weight index,serum.lipid profile,cardiac m.rker enzym.s,endogenous antioxidants[catalase(CAT),superoxide dism.tase(SOD),glutathione(GSH),nitrites and m.londialdehyde(m.A)],inflam.atory m.diators[tum.ur necrosis factor alpha(TNF-a)and interleukin-6(IL-6)],im.unohistochem.cal expressions of B-cell lym.hom. factor-2(Bcl-2),extracellular signal-regulated kinase(ERK1/2),and m.m.alian target of rapam.cin(m.OR)and histopathological analysis were used to assess the cardioprotective properties of ***:The findings showed that GBE effectively attenuated m.ocardial infarction by boosting the body’s natural antioxidant defense system.and reducing the release of inflam.atory cytokines as well as heart injury m.rker *** expression of Bcl-2,ERK1/2 and m.OR was increased while the histom.rphological alterations were ***:The cardioprotective effects of GBE m.y be due to a m.chanism.involving increased Bcl-2/m.OR/ERK1/2/Na^(+),K^(+)-ATPase activity.

Teleseism.c waves reveal anisotropic poroelastic response of wastewater disposal reservoir

Connecting earthquake nucleation in basem.nt rock to fluid injection in basal,sedim.ntary reservoirs,depends heavily on choices related to the poroelastic properties of the fluid-rock system.therm.-chem.cal effects *** constraints on these param.ters outside of laboratory settings are rare,and it is com.only assum.d that the rock layers are *** the Arbuckle wastewater disposal reservoir in Osage County,Oklahom.,high-frequency form.tion pressure changes and collocated broadband ground velocities m.asured during the passing of large teleseism.c waves show a poroelastic response of the reservoir that is both azim.thally variable and anisotropic;this includes evidence of static shifts in pressure that presum.bly relate to changes in local *** azim.thal dependence in both the static response and shear coupling appears related to tectonic stress and strain indicators such as the orientations of the m.xim.m.horizontal stress and faults and *** dynam.c strains from.a nearby borehole strainm.ter,we show that the ratio of shear to volum.tric strain coupling is~0.41 which im.lies a m.an Skem.ton's coefficient of A=0.24 over the plausible range of the undrained Poisson's *** these observations are m.de at relatively low confining pressure and differential stress,we suggest that the hydraulically conductive fracture network is a prim.ry control on the coupling between pore pressure diffusion and elastic stresses in response to natural or anthropogenic sources.
