Cell wall is the first physical barrier to aluminum(Al)*** of cell wall properties to change its binding capacity to Al is one of the major strategies for plant Al resistance;nevertheless,how it is regulated in rice remains largely *** this study,we show that exogenous application of putrescines(Put)could significantly restore the Al resistance of art1,a rice mutant lacking the central regulator Al RESISTANCE TRANSCRIPTION FACTOR 1(ART1),and reduce its Al accumulation particularly in the cell wall of root *** on RNA-sequencing,yeast-onehybrid and electrophoresis mobility shift assays,we identified an R2R3 mYB transcription factor OsmYB30 as the novel target in both ART1-dependent and Put-promoted Al ***,transient dual-luciferase assay showed that ART1 directly inhibited the expression of OsmYB30,and in turn repressed Os4CL5-dependent 4-coumaric acid accumulation,hence reducing the Al-binding capacity of cell wall and enhancing Al ***,Put repressed OsmYB30 expression by eliminating Alinduced H2O2accumulation,while exogenous H2O2promoted OsmYB30 *** concluded that ART1 confers Put-promoted Al resistance via repression of OsmYB30-regulated modification of cell wall properties in rice.

Heterosis and combining ability evaluation for growth traits of blunt snout bream(megalobrama amblycephala)when crossbreeding three strains

The blunt snout bream(megalobrama amblycephala)is a major aquaculture species in the Chinese freshwater polyculture *** this study,complete diallel crossing of three strains(i.e.,Liangzi[LZ],Poyang[PY]and Yuni[YN])was used to evaluate the combining ability and heterosis effect of intraspecific crossbreeding on the growth performance(i.e.,body weight,total length,body length,body height,and Fulton’s coefficient of condition).The offspring produced from the three strains were reared in a communal pond for 20 months,and nine microsatellites were used to assess their *** the749 offspring,708(94.53%)could be assigned directly to a single parental *** differences were observed in body weight(BW)among the different combinations,indicating that the combining ability of BW from each strain was significantly *** general combining ability(GCA)of BW from the sire was much higher than that from the *** GCA for the dam and sire of the LZ and YN were the largest and the smallest,*** special combining ability of YN$9 PY#was the largest,and YN$9 PY#showed significantly positive heterosis effects on all F1growth traits,except for Fulton’s condition coefficient(K)(P\0.05).In addition,significant positive linear correlations were found between the mean BW of corresponding progeny and the H E of the parental generation(y=600.7x-29.472,r=0.8651,P=0.0026),H O(y=1206.9x-518.14,r=0.7436,P=0.0216),and the polymorphism information content(y=1021.3x-331.31,r=0.8245,P=0.0063)as determined by a correlative *** findings obtained from the study will be important for future considerations of *** stock improvement programs.

背景:现有文献报告的女子篮球运动员受伤大多是踝关节扭伤,其损伤机制存在争议。目前尚无关于赤脚或穿鞋状态下肌肉不平衡及其与损伤严重程度之间关系的调查。本研究的目的是调查穿运动鞋对肌肉力量的作用以及与下肢损伤的关系,尤其针对女篮运动员,因为这一群体踝关节损伤高发。方法:11名大学女子篮球运动员在赛季前接受肌肉内翻及外翻力量测试,即在赤脚和穿鞋状态下,使用等速测力计进行测量。在不同条件下测量倒置与翻转的峰值扭矩、达到峰值的时间以及两种条件下从翻转到峰值的强度百分比。在赛季中记录她们的下肢损伤并按严重程度排名。用斯皮尔曼Rho相关系数(ρ)(a水平0.05)测定赤脚与穿鞋状态的峰值扭矩、达到峰值的时间以及强度百分比等级差别与损伤等级之间的关联。结果:受试者在120°/s状态下赤脚与穿鞋时内翻及外翻扭矩峰值的等级差别与其受伤程度等级相关。赛季中持续的运动员受伤程度等级与其赤脚和穿鞋时外翻扭矩峰值成强烈正相关(ρ=0.78,p=0.02)。结论赤脚与穿鞋状态下肌肉平衡差异大很可能导致运动员受伤;缩小赤脚与穿鞋状态下翻转力矩的差异能减小受伤倾向。今后的研究应关注赤脚与穿鞋状态下恢复肌肉力量的效果。

Background:Countries that aimed for eliminating the cases of COVID-19 with test-trace-isolate policy are found to have lower infections,deaths,and better economic performance,compared with those that opted for other mitigation ***,the continuous evolution of new strains has raised the question of whether COVID-19 eradication is still possible given the limited public health response capacity and fatigue of the *** aim to investigate the mechanism of the Zero-COVID policy on outbreak containment,and to explore the possibility of eradication of Omicron transmission using the citywide test-trace-isolate(CTTI)***:We develop a compartmental model incorporating the CTTI Zero-COVID policy to understand how it contributes to the SARS-CoV-2 *** employ our model to mimic the Delta outbreak in Fujian Province,China,from September 10 to October 9,2021,and the Omicron outbreak in Jilin Province,China for the period from march 1 to April 1,*** and sensitivity analyses were conducted using dynamical system and Latin Hypercube Sampling/Partial Rank Correlation Coefcient(PRCC).Results:Calibration results of the model estimate the Fujian Delta outbreak can end in 30(95%confdence interval CI:28–33)days,after 10(95%CI:9–11)rounds of citywide *** emerging Jilin Omicron outbreak may achieve zero COVID cases in 50(95%CI:41–57)days if supported with sufcient public health resources and population compliance,which shows the efectiveness of the CTTI Zero-COVID ***:The CTTI policy shows the capacity for the eradication of the Delta outbreaks and also the Omicron ***,the implementation of radical CTTI is challenging,which requires routine monitoring for early detection,adequate testing capacity,efcient contact tracing,and high isolation compliance,which constrain its benefts in regions with limited ***,these challenges become even more acute in the face of more contagious variant

Diagnosis of morbid obesity may not impact healthcare utilization for orthotopic liver transplantation:A propensity matched study

AIm To study mortality, length of stay, and total charges in morbidly obese adults during index hospitalization for orthotopic liver *** The Nationwide Inpatient Sample was queried to obtain demographics, healthcare utilization, post orthotopic liver transplantation(OLT) complications, and short term outcomes of OLT performed from 2003 to 2011(n = 46509). We divided patients into those with [body mass index(BmI) ≥ 40] and without(BmI morbid obesity. multivariable logistic regression analysis was performedto characterize differences in in-hospital mortality, length of stay(LOS), and charges for OLT between patients with and without morbid obesity after adjusting for significant confounders. Additionally, propensity matching was performed to further validate the *** Of the 46509 patients who underwent OLT during the study period, 818(1.8%) were morbidly obese. morbidly obese recipients were more likely to be female(46.8% vs 33.4%, P = 0.002), Caucasian(75.2% vs 67.8%, P = 0.002), in the low national income quartile(32.3% vs 22.5%, P = 0.04), and have ≥ 3 comorbidities(modified Elixhauser index; 83.9% vs 45.0%, P morbidly obese patient also had an increase in procedure related hemorrhage(P = 0.028) and respiratory complications(P = 0.043). multivariate and propensity matched analysis showed no difference in mortality(OR: 0.70; 95%CI: 0.27-1.84, P = 0.47), LOS(β:-4.44; 95%CI:-9.93, 1.05, P = 0.11) and charges for transplantation(β: $15693; 95%CI:-51622-83008, P = 0.64) between the two groups. morbidly obese patients were more likely to have transplants on weekdays(81.7%) as compared to those without morbid obesity(75.4%, P = 0.029).CONCLUSION morbid obesity may not impact in-hospital mortality and health care utilization in OLT recipients. However, morbidly obese patients may be selected after careful assessment of co-morbidities.

Background: The ExcelsiusGPS?(Globus medical, Inc., Audubon, PA) is a next-generation spine surgery robotic system recently approved for use in the United States. The objective of the current study is to assess pedicle screw accuracy and clinical outcomes among two of the first operative cases utilizing the ExcelsiusGPS?robotic system and describe a novel metric to quantify screw deviation. methods: Two patients who underwent lumbar fusion at a single institution with the ExcelsiusGPS?surgical robot were included. Pre-operative trajectory planning was performed from an intra-operative CT scan using the O-arm (medtronic, Inc., minneapolis, mN). After robotic-assisted screw implantation, a post-operative CT scan was obtained to confirm ideal screw placement and accuracy with the planned trajectory. A novel pedicle screw accuracy algorithm was devised to measure screw tip/tail deviation distance and angular offset on axial and sagittal planes. Screw accuracy was concurrently determined by a blinded neuroradiologist using the traditional Gertzbein-Robbins method. Clinical variables such as symptomatology, operative data, and post-operative follow-up were also collected. Results: Eight pedicle screws were placed in two L4-L5 fusion cases. mean screw tip deviation was 2.1 mm (range 0.8-5.2 mm), mean tail deviation was 3.2 mm (range 0.9-5.4 mm), and mean angular offset was 2.4 degrees (range 0.7-3.8 degrees). All eight screws were accurately placed based on the Gertzbein-Robbins scale (88% Grade A and 12% Grade B). There were no cases of screw revision or new post-operative deficit. Both patients experienced improvement in Frankel grade and Karnofsky Performance Status (KPS) score by 6 weeks post-op. Conclusion: The ExcelsiusGPS? robot allows for precise execution of an intended pre-planned trajectory and accurate screw placement in the first patients to undergo robotic-assisted fusion with this technology.

Cardiovascular disease （CVD） has been the number one cause of death in the U.S. for 114 of the last 115 years. Lifestyle factors that promote CVD also appear to increase prostate cancer risk and those that reduce CVD risk also appear to reduce the risk of prostate cancer. The largest randomized trials utilizing dietary supplements or pharmacologic agents for prostate cancer prevention （Selenium and Vitamin E Cancer Prevention Trial [SELECT]） have also shed light on the problems and future solutions in this area. Dietary supplements that have not been found to be CVD protective, such as selenium and Vitamin E have not been found to be prostate protective. In addition, over exposure to specific anti-oxidants in nutritionally replete populations may be encouraging cancer growth. Futuretrials of dietary supplements to prevent prostate cancer could be problematic because by the time a definitive trial is initiated the participants will no longer be ＂deficient＂ in the nutrient being tested, which arguably occurred in the SELECT trial. It is also interesting that statins, aspirin, and/or metformin （S.A.m.） are 3 generic, low-cost, heart healthy agents derived from natural sources with separate mechanism of actions, which all appear to have the best benefit to risk ratio compared to any other agent available for prostate cancer prevention, especially aggressive disease, or as an ancillary agent （s） to conventional cancer treatment. It is time to focus on the forest over the trees and recommend proven CVD protective measures for men concerned about their risk of prostate cancer.

Capacitively coupled shortwave radiofrequency fields(13.56 mHz)resistively heat low concentrations(~1 ppm)of gold nanoparticles with a thermal power dissipation of~380 kW/g of *** diameter gold nanoparticles(m)heat at nearly twice the rate of larger diameter gold nanoparticles(≥50 nm),which is attributed to the higher resistivity of smaller gold nanostructures.A Joule heating model has been developed to explain this phenomenon and provides critical insights into the rational design and engineering of nanoscale materials for noninvasive thermal therapy of cancer.
