Background:International non-governmental organizations(INGOs)have been implementing community-based tuberculosis(TB)care(CBTBC)in Myanmar since *** the National TB Programme(NTP)ultimately plans to take over CBTBC,there have been no evaluations of the models of care or of the costs of providing CBTBC in Myanmar by ***:This was a descriptive study using routinely-collected programmatic and financial data from four INGOs during 2013 and 2014,adjusted for *** analysis was performed from the provider *** for sputum examination were not included as it was provided free of charge by *** calculated the average cost per year of each programme and cost per patient completing ***:Four INGOs assisted the NTP by providing CBTBC in areas where access to TB services was *** INGO faced different issues in their contexts and responded with a diversity of *** total costs ranged from US$140754 to US$550221 during the study *** cost per patient completing treatment ranged from US$215 to US$1076 for new cases and US$354 to US$1215 for retreatment cases,depending on the targeted area and the package of services *** INGO appeared less costly,more sustainable and patient oriented than ***:This study revealed a wide variety of models of care and associated costs for implementing CBTBC in diverse and challenging populations and contexts in ***,we recommend a more comprehensive evaluation,including development of a cost model,to estimate the costs of scaling up CBTBC country-wide,and cost-effectiveness studies,to best inform the NTP as it prepares to takeover CBTBC activities from *** awaiting evidence from these studies,model of CBTBC that have higher sustainability potential and allocate more resources to patient-centered care should be given priority support.

In this article,vibration characteristics of sandwich plates with an auxetic honeycomb core and laminated three-phase skin layers subjected to blast load are ***-order ES-MITC3 element based on higher-order shear deformation theory(HSDT)to achieve the governing *** sandwich plates with the ultra-light feature of the auxetic honeycomb core layer(negative Poisson’s ratio)and reinforced by two laminated three-phase skin *** obtained results in our work are compared with other previously published to confirm accuracy and *** addition,the effects of parameters such as geometrical and material parameters on the vibration characteristics of sandwich plates with an auxetic honeycomb core and laminated three-phase skin layers are fully investigated.

Urban flooding has impacted siginficantly on people＇s living： economic development, environmental pollution, etc.. It has been the serious problem of many cities in file world, especially in urban areas in developing countries because urbanization is too fast but lack of adaptive management planning and infrastructure. In Vietnam, the big cities, such as HCM （Ho Chi Minh） City, Hanoi, etc. have also been influenced severely by floods. By early 2017, HCM City has 171 flooded sites assigned by the district level; 40 submergence points assigned by Steering Center of Flooding Control Program, and 9 tidal flooded points. The paper will establish a suitable method for assessing flood vulnerability in HCM City from natural, social and environmental aspects. The results of a case study in District 6 show that there are four wards with high vulnerability and 10 wards with average vulnerability.

Assessment of Salinization in the Main River Systems of Long An Province, Vietnam

Three provinces including Long An, Tien Giang and Dong Thap, located at Dong Thap Muoi area in the Mekong Delta, belong to the southern key economic region of Vietnam. These provinces run from west to east with a vast network of rivers. Among them, VCD （Vam Co Dong）, VCT （Vam Co Tay） and Soai Rap rivers are the three biggest rivers crossing the province. In recent years, the flows of rivers have changed a lot and saline intrusion has been very complicated. Salt water has intruded deeply into the field. In the 2000s, salt water only reached Tuyen Nhon （Thanh hoa district）, but now it has reached Vinh Hung district, about 50 km far from Tuyen Nhon. In 2016, the maximum of salinity in Xuan Khanh （Duc hoa district） in VCD river was 6.8‰ and Tuyen Nhon （Thanh hoa district） in VCT river was 5.2‰. In the coming years, the situation of salt intrusion is going to happen more unpredictable under effects of global climate change and sea level rise.

How to Motivate Students to Learn Listening Effectively？

This paper reports a study that used a matched-pair pre-test, post-test control group design to compare the impacts of IL （intensive listening） program and EL （extensive listening） program on the learners＇ listening proficiency based on the 30-day experiment. It is hoped that the study can help Vietnamese learners who study EFL （English as a foreign language） develop a positive attitude towards EL on one hand, and may motivate them to listen for pleasure on the other hand. This study may shed light on how to introduce EL into English foreign language classroom practice and how to maximize the students＇ exposure to suitable listening materials, which has been effectively adapted and reproduced, for the real classroom practice

Morphological Change in the Northern Red River Delta,Vietnam

Coastal erosion has become a worldwide concern, typically in the densely populated Asian mega-river deltas. Severe coastal erosion in the southern Red River Delta(RRD) has been intensively studied. Coastal morphological change in the northern RRD was examined in detail through DEM(Digital Elevation Model) analysis based on time series of bathymetrical maps(1965–2004) and Landsat images(1975–2015) in this study. The results show that the northern RRD is featured by rapid coastal accretion in the past few decades, although suspended sediment flux has dropped by roughly 60% after the completeness of hoa Binh Dam(HBD) in 1988 and relative sea level rose at 1.9 mm yr^(-1). However, accretion at the outer part of subtidal shoals and platforms was observed to slow down quickly or even turned into erosion in the last two decades. The resuspended sediments from the erosion zone can be transported landward to replenish the inner coastal zone, keeping the latter accretion in the near future to compensate for the sediment discharge decrease from the river. However, this lag effect should be terminated soon if other adverse effects go worse, e.g., damming rivers, sea-level rising, strengthening storms, land reclamation and other poor-designed coastal engineering. Coastal planners and managers should pay full attention to these changes.

The contribution of a non-governmental organisation’s Community Based Tuberculosis Care Programme to case finding in Myanmar:trend over time

Background:It is estimated that the standard,passive case finding(PCF)strategy for detecting cases of tuberculosis(TB)in Myanmar has not been successful:26%of cases are ***,alternative strategies,such as active case finding(ACF)by community volunteers,have been initiated since *** study aimed to assess the contribution of a Community Based TB Care Programme(CBTC)by local non-government organizations(NGOs)to TB case finding in Myanmar over 4 ***:This was a descriptive study using routine,monitoring *** data from the NGOs were sent to a central registry within the National TB Programme and data for this study were extracted from that *** from all 84 project townships in five regions and three states in Myanmar were *** project was launched in ***:Over time,the number of presumptive TB cases that were referred decreased,except in the Yangon Region,although in some areas,the numbers *** the same time,there was a trend for the proportion of cases treated,compared to those referred,that decreased over time(P=0.051).Overall,among 84 townships,the contribution of CBTC to total case detection deceased from 6%to 4%over time(P<0.001).Conclusions:Contrary to expectations and evidence from previous studies in other countries,a concerning reduction in TB case finding by local NGO volunteer networks in several areas in Myanmar was recorded over 4 *** suggests that measures to support the volunteer network and improve its performance are *** may include discussion with local NGOs human resources personnel,incentives for the volunteers,closer supervision of volunteers and improved monitoring and evaluation tools.
