Adapting and restricting salinity intrusion in Vietnam is being concerned by more researchers as well as the local *** study aimed to use remote sensing and geographic information system(GIS)technology for mapping paddy areas and salinity intrusion in spring crop 2015 at Phu Vang district,thereby helping precondition for assessing and monitoring changes in salinity intrusion to serve for salinization management in study *** on acquisition imagery,land use map and normalized difference vegetation index(NDVI)were extracted to interpolate the salinity of area by combining the laboratory analysis of collected soil samples from the *** result showed that there were 1,067.107 ha of salinity land area accounting for 10.04%of the rice land in Phu Vang district,where the moderate salinity level was 180.67 ha and low salinity level was 866.431 *** salinity rice land was mainly distributed in Vinh Ha commune,Phu An commune and Phu Dien *** salinity in this area ranged from 0.4 mS/cm to 1.41 mS/cm and the moderate salinity was approximately 0.9 mS/***,this research also showed that the salinity(electrical conductivity)and the development of vegetation(NDVI)were closely related with each other up to 61.4%.

background In Viet Nam, tuberculosis (TB) represents a devastating life-event with an exorbitant price tag, partly due to lost income from daily directly observed therapy in public sector care. Thus, persons with TB may seek care in the private sector for its flexibility, convenience, and privacy. Our study aimed to measure income changes, costs and catastrophic cost incurrence among TB-affected households in the public and private *** Between October 2020 and March 2022, we conducted 110 longitudinal patient cost interviews, among 50 patients privately treated for TB and 60 TB patients treated by the National TB Program (NTP) in Ha Noi, Hai Phong and Ho Chi Minh City, Viet Nam. Using a local adaptation of the WHO TB patient cost survey tool, participants were interviewed during the intensive phase, continuation phase and post-treatment. We compared income levels, direct and indirect treatment costs, catastrophic costs using Wilcoxon rank-sum and chi-squared tests and associated risk factors between the two cohorts using multivariate *** The pre-treatment median monthly household income was significantly higher in the private sector versus NTP cohort (USD 868 vs USD 578;P=0.010). However, private sector treatment was also significantly costlier (USD 2075 vs USD 1313;P=0.005), driven by direct medical costs which were 4.6 times higher than costs reported by NTP participants (USD 754 vs USD 164;P<0.001). This resulted in no significant difference in catastrophic costs between the two cohorts (Private: 55% vs NTP: 52%;P=0.675). Factors associated with catastrophic cost included being a single-person household [adjusted odds ratio [(aOR=13.71; 95% confidence interval (CI): 1.36–138.14;P=0.026], unemployment during treatment (aOR=10.86; 95%CI: 2.64–44.60;P<0.001) and experiencing TB-related stigma (aOR=37.90; 95%CI: 1.72–831.73;P=0.021).Conclusions Persons with TB in Viet Nam face similarly high risk of catastrophic costs whether treated in the

In recent years,blockchain technology has been applied in the educational domain because of its salient advantages,i.e.,transparency,decentralization,and *** systems typically use public blockchain networks such as Ethereum and Bitcoin to store learning ***,the cost of writing data on these networks is significant,making educational institutions limit data sent to the target network,typically containing only hash codes of the issued *** this paper,we present a system based on a private blockchain network for lifelong learning data authentication and management named B4E(Blockchain For Education).B4E stores not only certificates but also learners’training data such as transcripts and educational programs in order to create a complete record of the lifelong education of each user and verify certificates that they have *** a result,B4E can address two types of fake certificates,i.e.,certificates printed by unlawful organizations and certificates issued by educational institutions for learners who have not met the training *** addition,B4E is designed to allow all participants to easily deploy software packages to manage,share,and check stored information without depending on a single point of *** such,the system enhances the transparency and reliability of the stored *** experiments show that B4E meets expectations for deployment in reality.

In this work, an Ar plasma jet generated by an AC-microsecond-pulse-driven dielectric barrier discharge reactor, which had two ring-shaped electrodes isolated from the ambient atmosphere by transformer oil, was investigated. By special design of the oil insulation, a chemically active Ar plasma jet along with a safe and stable plasma process as well as low emission of CO and NOxwere successfully achieved. The results indicated that applied voltage and frequency were basic factors influencing the jet temperature, discharge power, and jet length, which increased significantly with the two operating parameters. Meanwhile, gas velocity affected the jet temperature in a reverse direction. In comparison with a He plasma jet, the Ar plasma jet had relatively low jet temperature under the same level of the input parameters, being preferable for bio-applications. The Ar plasma jet has been tested to interact with human skin within 5 min without the perception of burnt skin and electrical shock.

In this study,we reported on the concept and practical use of cation exchange resin(CER)for removing anions in water via pretreating the CER with metal *** cation exchange resinsupported iron and magnesium oxides/hydroxides composite(FeMg/CER)was synthesized and introduced as a new and potential adsorbent for selective removal of nitrate ion in the water *** of FeMg/CER were determined by techniques such as Fouriertransform infrared spectroscopy,scanning electron microscopy,and Xray *** results showed that FeMg/CER material had a high nitrate adsorption capacity of 200 mg NO_(3)^()·g^(1)with a fast equilibrium adsorption time of 30 min at pH *** addition,it had good durability of at least 10 times of regeneration,which could be applied to practical water and wastewater treatment.

Purpose: Our work seeks to overcome data quality issues related to incomplete author affiliation data in bibliographic records in order to support accurate and reliable measurement of international research collaboration(IRC).Design/methodology/approch: We propose, implement, and evaluate a method that leverages the Web-based knowledge graph Wikidata to resolve publication affiliation data to particular countries. The method is tested with general and domain-specific data ***: Our evaluation covers the magnitude of improvement, accuracy, and consistency. Results suggest the method is beneficial, reliable, and consistent, and thus a viable and improved approach to measuring *** limitations: Though our evaluation suggests the method works with both general and domain-specific bibliographic data sets, it may perform differently with data sets not tested here. Further limitations stem from the use of the R programming language and R libraries for country identification as well as imbalanced data coverage and quality in Wikidata that may also change over *** implications: The new method helps to increase the accuracy in IRC studies and provides a basis for further development into a general tool that enriches bibliographic data using the Wikidata knowledge ***: This is the first attempt to enrich bibliographic data using a peer-produced, Webbased knowledge graph like Wikidata.

This work develops a three-dimensional(3D) multiscale model to analyze a complex carbon dioxide(CO_2) faulted reservoir that includes some key geologic features of the San Andreas and nearby faults southwest of the Kimberlina *** model uses the STOMP-CO2 code for flow modeling that is coupled to the AbaQUS~ finite element package for geomechanical analysis.A 3D AbaQUS~ finite element model is developed that contains a large number of 3D solid elements with two nearly parallel faults whose damage zones and cores are discretized using the same continuum *** zones with different mineral compositions are considered:shale,sandstone,fault damaged sandstone,fault damaged shale,and fault ***' elastic properties that govern their poroelastic behavior are modeled by an Eshelby-Mori-Tanaka approach(EMTA).which can account for up to 15 mineral *** permeability of fault damage zones affected by crack density and orientations is also predicted by an EMTA formulation.A STOMP-CO2 grid that exactly maps the AbaQUS~ finite element model is built for coupled hydromechanical *** of the reservoir assuming three different crack pattern situations(including crack volume fraction and orientation) for the fault damage zones are performed to predict the potential leakage of CO_2 due to cracks that enhance the permeability of the fault damage *** results illustrate the important effect of the crack orientation on fault permeability that can lead to substantial leakage along the fault attained by the expansion of the CO_2 *** hydraulic fracture and tendency for the faults to slip are also examined and discussed in terms of stress distributions and geomechanical properties.

We construct optimal k-step, 5- to 10-stage, explicit, strong-stability-preserving Hermite-Birkhoff (SSP HB) methods of order 12 with nonnegative coefficients by combining linear k-step methods of order 9 with 5- to 10-stage Runge-Kutta (RK) methods of order 4. Since these methods maintain the monotonicity property, they are well suited for solving hyperbolic PDEs by the method of lines after a spatial discretization. It is seen that the 8-step 7-stage HB methods have largest effective SSP coefficient among the HB methods of order 12 on hand. On Burgers’ equations, some of the new HB methods have larger maximum effective CFL numbers than Huang’s 7-step hybrid method of order 7, thus allowing larger step size.

Mutations in the human mitochondrial genome have been observed in all types of human cancer,indicating that mutations might contribute to tumorigenesis,metastasis,recurrence,or drug *** possibility is appealing because of the known shift from oxidative metabolism to glycolysis,known as the Warburg effect,that occurs in *** DNA(mtDNA)mutations could either bematernally inherited and predispose to cancer(germ line mutations)or occur sporadically in the mtDNA of specific tissues(rissue-or tumor-specific somatic mutations)and contribute to the tumor initiation and progression ***-throughput sequencing technologies now enable comprehensive detection of mtDNA variation in tissues and bodily fluids,with the potential to be used as an early detectiontool that may impact the treatment of ***,we discuss insights into the roles of mtDNA mutations in carcinogenesis,highlighting the complexities involved in the analysis and interpretation of mitochondrial genomic *** challenges in studying their contribution to pathogenesis,and the value of mtDNA mutations in developing early detection,diagnosis,prognosis,and therapeuticstrategics for cancer.

Assessment of Water Quality in Shrimp Culture Areas of the Mekong Delta

Water quality was investigated in shrimp culture areas in Cau Ngang, Tra Vinh where three culture systems were found in the same area to assess the impact of intensification of shrimp culture on the surrounding environment. Three culture systems were selected including intensive, semi-intensive and rice-shrimp alternated culture for the study. Monthly assessment of physical and chemical parameters of water and biotic parameters were done for a period of one year from March, 2009 to February, 2010 in the canals surrounding the culture systems. The physical chemical parameters of water recorded include temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen, chemical oxygen demand （COD）, total suspended solids （TSS）, total ammonium （TAN）, nitrite （N-NO2）, nitrate （N-NO3） and total nitrogen （TN）, total phosphorus （TP） in both water and sediment. Zooplankton and zoobenthos were determined quantitatively and qualitatively using zooplankton nets and Petersen grabs, respectively. The results indicated that most of water parameters were not significantly different between culture systems and were in suitable ranges for aquatic life within the national standard criteria except DO, TSS and TP at some periods. DO concentration in rice-shrimp system was significantly lower than that in other systems. TSS and TP concentrations both in water and sediment were high exceeding the limit ranges （〉 100 mg/L）. The occurrence of some zooplankton and zoobenthos species indicated that all systems were polluted at 13 level （mesosaprobic） in which the rice-shrimp alternated culture system subjected to more environmental fluctuation not only by shrimp culture but also rice cultivation and salinity variation between dry and rainy seasons.
