In this study, the experiments on field were conducted to examine the change in the content of soil organic carbon (SOC), its C-13 stable isotope composition (δ 13C) and some main physical, chemical parameters (soil moisture, pH, soil density, content of humic, fulvic, total N, total P, total K) in alluvial soil of Dan Phuong region—Vietnam at a depth of 0 - 30 cm when we changed the regime from 2 maize -1 rice crop to 2 rice - 1 maize crop per 1 year. In addition to analyzing the main parameters in soil, C content and its δ 13C value in parts of rice and maize (root, stem and leaf) were also analyzed to assess the contribution of plant residues on soil organic carbon content after harvest. The experiment was carried out in 2016-2017 on the field with the traditional farming method of local farmers along with the tropical monsoon weather conditions of the North-Vietnam. The results showed that SOC had positive correlation with total N, total P parameters and negative correlation with δ 13C values of soil samples at two layers (0 - 15 cm and 15 - 30 cm). The average of total dry biomass (stem, stump + roots and leaf parts) per 1 rice and 1 maize crop was 10.64 Mg/ha and 9.09 Mg/ha, respectively. The average of δ 13C value of rice (C3 plant) was -29.78‰ and its value of maize (C4 plant) was -12.61‰. The new plant (rice) contributes to the total soil organic carbon content from 11.31% to 44.14% at the 0 - 15 cm layer and from 6.55% to 11.31% at the 15 - 30 cm layer in one-year experiment period.

There is a clear trend in the increase of damages and loss of lives and livelihoods in coastal areas as a result of rapid increase in coastal populations, and overall socio-economic development in coastal regions resulting in an increase in vulnerability of populations exposed to coastal floods and exposed infrastructure. Coastal flooding as a result of i.e. storm surges are difficult to predict and cannot be prevented, however there are means to apply integrated flood risk management approaches aiming to reduce the impact of coastal floods. A measure of the effectiveness of such approaches is the awareness and response of coastal communities to coastal flood risks. The paper introduces best practices and methods to lower coastal flood risk at the level of provinces, districts and the community level. this includes advances in coastal flood forecasting and early warning practices, improvement of institutional preparedness and integrated flood management practices as well as measures at the community level aiming to strengthen their resilience to coastal floods. The paper provides a showcase for the historical development and achievements to pave ways for the eventual implementation of a pilot project on integrated flood risk management in coastal areas in central Viet Nam.

To understand the reallocation of organic nitrogen from leaf to the flower head of rice, the role of glutamine synthetase （GS） was investigated by characterizing GS1 RNAi transgenic rice, which revealed a significant reduction in panicle number and number of seeds per panicle. We observed the expression of GS isotypes at transcriptional and protein levels in flag leaves, leaf sheaths and panicles at three different flower development stages. The mRNA expression of GS1;1 was clearly suppressed in flag leaves, especially at the flowering stage. GS1 protein was barely detectable in flag leaves until the flowering stage, while GS1 protein was compromised in the leaf sheath and panicle, with transient expression of GS2 protein at the flowering stage. The glutamine level in transgenic plants was significantly reduced in both flag leaves and panicles, but ammonium was highly accumulated. The level of other amino acids, including aspartate and asparagine, tended to be higher in RNAi transgenic plants than the wild type plants during the reproductive stage. In addition, accumulation of toxic ammonium in panicles with low glutamine level might have caused low seed-setting in the transgenic rice. These results indicated that nitrogen reallocation was critical for panicle development, and that multiple GS isotypes functioned cooperatively to complete the rice life cycle when leaf nitrogen was remobilized to the developing reproductive organs.

Light perception at dawn plays a key role in coordinating multiple molecular processes and in entraining the plant circadian *** Arabidopsis mutant lacking the main photoreceptors,however,still shows clock entrainment,indicating that the integration of light into the morning transcriptome is not well *** this study,we performed a high-resolution RNA-sequencing time-series experiment,sampling every 2 min beginning at *** parallel experiments,we perturbed temperature,the circadian clock,photoreceptor signaling,and chloroplast-derived light *** used these data to infer a gene network that describes the gene expression dynamics after light stimulus in the morning,and then validated key *** sampling time points at high density,we are able to identify three light-and temperature-sensitive bursts of transcription factor activity,one of which lasts for only about 8 *** and cryptochrome mutants cause a delay in the transcriptional bursts at dawn,and completely remove a burst of expression in key photomorphogenesis genes(HY5 and BBX family).Our complete network is available online(http://***/∼de656/dawnBurst/***).Taken together,our results show that phytochrome and cryptochrome signaling is required for fine-tuning the dawn transcriptional response to light,but separate pathways can robustly activate much of the program in their absence.

Lipidomics coverage improvement is essential for functional lipid and pathway construction.A powerful approach to discovering organism lipidome is to combine various data acquisitions,such as full scan mass spectrometry(full MS),data-dependent acquisition(DDA),and data-independent acquisition(DIA).Caenorhabditis elegans(***)is a useful model for discovering toxic-induced metabolism,highthroughput drug screening,and a variety of human disease *** determine the lipidome of *** and investigate lipid disruption from the molecular level to the system biology level,we used integrative data *** methyl-tert-butyl ether method was used to extract L4 stage *** after exposure to triclosan(TCS),perfluorooctanoic acid,and nanopolystyrene(nPS).Full MS,DDA,and DIA integrations were performed to comprehensively profile the *** lipidome by Q-Exactive Plus *** annotated lipids were then analyzed using lipid ontology and pathway *** annotated up to 940 lipids from 20 lipid classes involved in various functions and *** biological investigations revealed that when *** were exposed to nPS,lipid droplets were disrupted,whereas plasma membrane-functionalized lipids were likely to be changed in the TCS treatment *** nPS treatment caused a significant disruption in lipid ***,glycerophospholipid,and ether class lipids were those primarily hindered by ***,toxicant exposure frequently involved numerous lipid-related pathways,including the phosphoinositide 3-kinase/protein kinase B *** conclusion,an integrative data acquisition strategy was used to characterize the *** lipidome,providing valuable biological insights into hypothesis generation and validation.

Purpose:To compare the complications and the recurrence rate between fibrin glue (TISSEEL) and Vicryl 8-0 sutures in amniotic membrane transplant during pterygium ***:Patients who underwent pterygium surgery with amniotic membrane transplant (AMT) in the Wang Eye Clinic (Doraville,USA).were randomly categorized into two groups:one group received TISSEEL and the other group received Vicryl 8-0 *** procedures for both groups were performed by one ***-four patients (24 eyes) participated in the TISSEEL group (22 eyes with primary surgery and 2 eyes with surgery for recurrence) and 19 patients (19 eyes) took part in the suture group (18 primary eyes and 1 recurrence).The patients with recurrent pterygium in both groups had not received AMT ***-operatively,patients were followed up for one week and then one year to check for any signs of complications and ***:Conjunctival inflammation occurred in 3 eyes (12.5%) in the TISSEEL group,and 6 eyes (31.6%) in the suture group.(P0.05).No dislocated conjunctival grafts,Dellen,inflammation,infection,bleeding,pyogenic granuloma,or scleromalacia was observed in either ***:Pterygium surgery with AMT had less conjunctival inflammation and dry eye in patients receiving fibrin glue than those with Vicryl 8-0 sutures.

Recently,surface-disordered or non-stoichiometric TiO2,such as blue TiO2(B-TiO2),has received much attention owing to its unique properties,such as structural disorder near the surface and the existence of Ti3+ions and oxygen ***,surface-disordered TiO2has been applied for microwave absorption,photocatalysis,in photoelectrochemical sensors and rechargeable lithium-ion *** this work B-TiO2,a polymorph consisting of nanoparticles,nanotubes and nanosheets,was successfully synthesized and employed as a semiconductor layer in dye-sensitized solar cells(DSSCs)fabricated using a low-temperature heat treatment process(120°C).Based on the analyses of the experimental results regarding the structure and those from the characterization of B-TiO2,and its application to DSSCs,it has been found that the B-TiO2material has an effect on electron-hole pair *** conversion efficiency of the B-TiO2DSSC(BTiO2-DSSC)was 6.18%,whereas that of the TiO2-P25 DSSC(P25-DSSC)was 3.61%,and that of the TiO2polymorph DSSC(PTiO2-DSSC)which is the precursor of B-TiO2was 4.51%.
