To understand the reallocation of organic nitrogen from leaf to the flower head of rice, the role of glutamine synthetase （GS） was investigated by characterizing GS1 RNAi transgenic rice, which revealed a significant reduction in panicle number and number of seeds per panicle. We observed the expression of GS isotypes at transcriptional and protein levels in flag leaves, leaf sheaths and panicles at three different flower development stages. The mRNA expression of GS1;1 was clearly suppressed in flag leaves, especially at the flowering stage. GS1 protein was barely detectable in flag leaves until the flowering stage, while GS1 protein was compromised in the leaf sheath and panicle, with transient expression of GS2 protein at the flowering stage. The glutamine level in transgenic plants was significantly reduced in both flag leaves and panicles, but ammonium was highly accumulated. The level of other amino acids, including aspartate and asparagine, tended to be higher in RNAi transgenic plants than the wild type plants during the reproductive stage. In addition, accumulation of toxic ammonium in panicles with low glutamine level might have caused low seed-setting in the transgenic rice. These results indicated that nitrogen reallocation was critical for panicle development, and that multiple GS isotypes functioned cooperatively to complete the rice life cycle when leaf nitrogen was remobilized to the developing reproductive organs.

Along with vast non-fossil potential and significant expertise,there is a question of whether Asian nations are attaining efficient consumption and exploitation of renewable *** this perspective,the paper aims to evaluate the efficiency of 14 potential Asia countries in renewable energy consumption during the six-year periods(2014-2019).In analyzing the performance of the renewable energy sector,the data envelopment analysis(DEA)with an undesirable output model approach has been widely utilized to measure the efficiency of peer units compared with the best practice *** consider four inputs and two outputs to a DEA-based efficiency *** force,total energy consumption,share of renewable energy,and total renewable energy capacity are *** outputs consist of CO_(2)emissions as an undesirable output and gross domestic product as a desirable *** results show that United Arab Emirates,Saudi Arabia,Japan,and South Korea consistently outperform in the evaluation,achieving perfect efficiency scores during the research *** is found to have the lowest average efficiency of renewable energy utilization.

Background and objectives Recent studies have shown that abdominal obesity is an important component for the diagnosis of metabolic syndrome (MS) and MS is a high risk factor for cardiovascular disease and diabetes mellitus. The aim of this study was to develop a new formula for screening and diagnosis of MS using the waist circumference (WC) and skin fold thickness at the point A8 (SFA8) on the Erdheim diagram. Methods A total of 358 essential hypertensive patients (189 male and 169 female) with a mean age of 59.0±9.7 years were included; 151 healthy people (79 male, 72 female) with a mean age of 57.3±12.1 years (similar to hypertensive patients) who were non-hypertensive and non-diabetic served as a control group. All subjects had no evidence of hepatic, renal, or endocrine disease as determined by history, physical examination and screening blood tests. Height, weight, WC, SFA8, blood pressure (BP), fasting plasma glucose, HDL-cholesterol and triglyceride levels were measured in all subjects. Abdominal obesity measured by WC using the Asia-Pacific criteria (IDFA) was applied for meeting the MS definition. The normal value of SFA8 was measured in the non- MS group. Relationships between SFA8 and systolic BP, diastolic BP, fasting plasma glucose, HDL-cholesterol and triglyceride levels were calculated in the control group. A new formula was developed according to high SFA8 and high WC. Results The normal value of SFA8 in non-MS group was 23.6±7.2 mm in male and 26.5±4.6 mm in female, respectively. The value of SFA8 in MS group was 36.7± 7.4 mm in male and 38.9 ± 8.1 mm in female, respectively. The value of WC in MS group and non-MS group were 92.5±3.0 cm and 79.4±6. 1 cm in male and 86.3±6.4 cm and 74.7±5.4 cm in female, respectively. There was a correlation between SFA8 and systolic BP, diastolic BP, fasting plasma glucose, HDL-cholesterol and triglyceride in control group (the correlation coefficients were 0.29, 0.23, 0.25, -0.31 and 0.46, respectively, P < 0.01)

Backgroud and Objectives Previous studies have reported that skin fold thickness (SF) strongly correlated with insulin resistance in the metabolic syndrome (MetS). In this study, we developed a MetS definition by SF at A8 point (SFA8) on Erdheim diagram(MetSSFA8) in essential hypertensive patients. Subjects and Methods Medical records of 268 essential hypertensive patients (126males and 122 females) were analyzed, including 210 non-diabetic patients (NDM group) and 58 patients with diabetes (DM group).The mean age was 61.4 ± 9.9 and 59.0 ± 11.0 years, respectively. The control group consisted of 90 non-diabetic, non-hypertensive patients with a mean age of 58.0 ± 11.3 years. The proposed MetSSFA8 definition included SFA8 specific values ( ≥30 mm in female and ≥27 mm in male) and at least two of the following: raised triglyceride levels ( ≥1.7 mmol/L), or specific treatment for this lipid abnormality; raised blood pressure (SBP≥130 mmHg and/or DBP≥85 mmHg), or treatment of previously diagnosed hypertension;reduced HDL-cholesterol (＜ 1.03 mmol/L in men, ＜1.29 mmol/L in women), or specific treatment for this lipid abnormality; raised fasting plasma glucose (≥5.6 mmol/l), or previously diagnosed DM. Metabolic Syndrome by the National Cholesterol Education Program and International Diabetes Federation definitions were determined with abdominal obesity defined by Asia-Pacific criteria for waist circumference (NCEPA and IDFA). Results The percentage of MetS as defined by NCEPA, IDFA and MetSSFA8 in NDM group was lower than that of NCEPA, IDFA and MetSSFA8 in DM group [OR=7.7 (95%CI, 2.9-20.2) and 2.5 (95%CI, 1.4-4.8) and 2.7(95%CI, 1.3-5.6), respectively] and higher than that of the control group [OR=53.3 (95%CI, 16.7-170.6), 5.8 (95%CI, 2.6-13.2) and18.8 (95%CI, 7.3-48.7), respectively]. The percentage of MetS by NCEPA, IDFA and MetSSFA8 in males in NDM group was lower than the percentage of MetS by NCEPA, IDFA and MetSSFA8 in females in NDM group (50.8% and 77.9%, P＜ 0.0

以废弃酒瓶软木塞为原料,采用低成本、简单的水热方法合成碳量子点。通过TEM、FTIR、Raman、UV-Vis、PL光谱对碳量子点的结构和光学性能进行分析表征。结果表明,碳量子点的平均直径为6.2±2.7 nm,PL激发谱和碳量子点表面的官能团有关。用硫酸奎宁作为参考,碳量子点的量子效率为1.54%。将获得的碳量子点应用在骨髓间充质干细胞的细胞生物成像上,发现用碳量子点处理后,骨髓间充质干细胞分别在320~380 nm、450~490 nm和450~490 nm范围显示绿色、黄色和红色荧光,表明了碳量子点在荧光成像领域具有潜在的应用价值。

Objective:To assess levels of HBs Ab amongst infants who received hepatitis B vaccine in the Expanded Program on Immunization in ***:A cross-sectional study was carried out at 16 community health centers from February 2016 to July *** infants were tested for HBs Ab and HBs *** questionnaires were used to collect relevant information about the demographics of the parents/caregivers and their infants after physical ***:A total of 199 eligible infants were selected with a mean age of(17.3±4.5)*** antibody levels with HBs Ab≥10 m IU/m L were detected in 68.3%of *** these,antibody levels from 10 to 99 m IU/m L were 48.5%of those tested and antibody levels≥100 ml U/m L were recorded as 51.5%.No cases were recorded of being infected with hepatitis B *** rate of positive HBs Ab level in those who were not wasting and≥18 months old was less than that among those who were<18 months old(OR 0.49,95%CI:0.26-0.92,P<0.05)while the infants with wasting and<18 months were less likely to be positive HBs Ab than those who were not wasting and of the same age group(OR 0.15,95%CI:0.04-0.55,P<0.05).Conclusions:Seroprotection against hepatitis B virus was low in the infants tested(at 68.3%),which suggests that the hepatitis B vaccine should be administered with one additional dose for infants between 12 and 24 months of age,particularly those with wasting.

Although the essential role of messenger RNA methylation in the nucleus is increasingly understood,the nature of ribosomal RNA(rRNA)methyltransferases and the role of rRNA methylation in chloroplasts remain largely unknown.A recent study revealed that CMAL(for Chloroplast mraW-Like)is a chloroplast-localized rRNA methyltransferase that is responsible for N4-methylcytidine(m^(4)C)in 16S chloroplast rRNA in Arabidopsis *** this study,we further examined the role of CMAL in chloroplast biogenesis and function,development,and hormone *** cmal mutant showed reduced chlorophyll biosynthesis,photosynthetic activity,and growth-defect phenotypes,including severely stunted stems,fewer siliques,and lower seed *** cmal mutant was hypersensitive to chloroplast translation inhibitors,such as lincomycin and erythromycin,indicating that the m^(4)C methylation defect in the 16S rRNA leads to a reduced translational activity in ***,the stunted stem of the cmal mutant was partially rescued by exogenous gibberellic acid or *** cmal mutant grew poorer than wild type,whereas the CMAL-overexpressing transgenic Arabidopsis plants grew better than wild type in the presence of abscisic ***,these results indicate that CMAL is an indispensable rRNA methyltransferase in chloroplasts and is crucial for chloroplast biogenesis and function,photosynthesis,and hormone response during plant growth and development.

Understanding the relationship between fish parental age and offspring performance over their life cycle is crucial for *** study investigates the effect of parental age for both 1-and 2-year-old fish on the growth and survival rates of their larval to grow-out stages for two wild and domesticated strains of bighead catfish(Clarias macrocephalus).Fish were sampled from the Vietnamese Mekong Delta where wild adult fish were collected from a conservation area in Ca Mau Province and domesticated fish were taken from a hatchery in Can *** offspring treatments of 1-and 2-year-old broodstock strains were reared for 3 successive periods:40 days for fingerling rearing in static tanks with water exchange,60 days for juveniles,and 90 days for grow-out in recirculating *** final weight of fish at 190 days varied from 96.7 to 144.7 *** growth of offspring was not affected by parental age(P>0.05),over the 3 rearing ***,the domesticated fish strain showed significantly better growth rates than the wild fish strain(P<0.05).Feed conversion ratios were comparable across fish *** rates did not differ at the fingerling(21.8%-36.4%)and juvenile(69.0%-73.3%)***,significant differences were found at the grow-out stage(69.3%-84.0%),with offspring from 2-year-old parents of both strains having greater survival ***,1-and 2-year-old fish appear to be suitable for bighead catfish breeders.

Observations of the ^12CO（3–2） emission from the circumstellar envelope（CSE） of the variable star π1Gru using the compact array of the ALMA observatory have been recently made accessible to the public. An analysis of the morphology and kinematics of the CSE is presented with a result very similar to that obtained earlier for ^12CO（2–1） emission using the Submillimeter Array. A quantitative comparison is made using their flared disk model. A new model is presented that provides a significantly better description of the data, using radial winds and smooth evolutions of the radio emission and wind velocity from the stellar equator to the poles.

Observations of an unprecedented quality made by ALMA on the Red Rectangle of CO（3-2） and CO（6-5） emissions are analysed jointly with the aim of obtaining as simple as possible a description of the gas morphology and kinematics. Evidence is found for polar conical outflows and for a broad equatorial torus in rotation and expansion. Simple models of both are proposed. Comparing CO（6-5） and CO（3-2） emissions provides evidence for a strong temperature enhancement over the polar outflows. Continuum emission （dust） is seen to be enhanced in the equatorial region. Observed asymmetries are briefly discussed.
